Non-Alcoholic Beer...

After I quit drinking some 15 years ago. Occasionally if I went out to a bar I'd drink a na beer whatever they had. None of it was any good. I do miss Saint Arnold's summer pills , Firemans #4 and Shiner Smokehaus

Leaving IT? Am I burned out?

I've been I the I.T. field for over 20 years. You just have to get to the point where you just don't care then it's all gravy. I'm a systems admin now (6 years) and I absolutely hate it. I enjoyed being a field technician, but I'm getting to old to be lifting up 150lb ups's and being up on sicisor lifts 20 feet up on a pole.

I don't remember schools requiring us to read books. I do remember the personal pan pizza you would get if you read so many books in a certain time frame. That had to be elementary school.

The love bugs in South Texas in the spring are no joke . After hurricane Harvey I saw a lot less bugs around . In Missouri you get assigned your own personal gnat but the mosquitoes here are weak sauce compared to the south. It's the ticks, chiggers and aggressive red butterflies (wasps) I could do without.

I concealed carried a number of years (I had a license to do so) I worked in a bad part of town in a warehouse district on a dead end road. We had a number of crazy people one in particular that ran into the security office stark nude and scared the hell out of the staff. Lots of cars were stolen and customers beaten and mugged . The general manager kept a 380 in his pocket. I moved and no longer carry but I probably should since I live in the middle of nowhere.. animals and meth heads. I carry pepper spray when I walk to the gym due to a pitbull that likes to test the end of his electronic collar.

APC UPS eats up batteries

Posted by RaisingElephantSysrq@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 80 comments

Primer50@reddit

The lightning strike was on my personal equipment via APC back in 2017 on a Apc1500. When I worked for a corporate company we had a symetra never had any issues with it other than one module went bad. Currently working in the financial sector as a systems admin.

APC UPS eats up batteries

Posted by RaisingElephantSysrq@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 80 comments

Primer50@reddit

TBH I'm not a fan after dealing with APC after a lightning strike that took out some equipment that was plugged into a ups (since they self test their damaged products they have no reason to pay out). It took me over a year to receive my payment for damaged equipment. I emailed them every week for almost a year asking about the status . I ended up calling their corporate office and complaining. Within a day after my call I received an email my payment was on its way.

I have to agree with this fully

Did y’all think Fonzie was cool when you were growing up?

Posted by Groovy-Pancakes@reddit | GenX | View on Reddit | 3527 comments

Primer50@reddit

The first season had rock around the clock and other original music I think that's why no one streams it copyrights. I ended up buying it on DVD. The second season had the "happy days song" that's why the show got picked up from the success of American graffiti. There was kind of a pilot episode on Love, American Style - Love and the Happy Days. Season 3 and on was a different show. After rewatching as an adult the first two seasons were pretty flat honestly but still decent. I was big into the 50s as a kid while everyone was listening to new wave etc I was listening to fats domino , Gene Vincent etc . I would ride my bike home and watch happy days after school . Browse the TV guide for American Graffiti, Hot Rod and so on.

My father and I just watched season one and season 2 a few weeks ago. They switched to multi cameras in season 3 with a live audience I believe. The first two seasons were the best imo. Fonzie was that one guy everyone knew that dropped out of school and was in minor trouble with the law now and then (bad boy). It is your basic coming of age television show just set in the 50's

I've been there. They had so much dust in the air the halon system alarm went off luckily they had the tank turned off. I just cleaned everything. Used compressed air to bow out what I couldn't vacuum out of the equipment. Never had a problem the ten years I worked at that particular site. Your mileage may vary . I did have major problems when they refinished the floors and got concrete dust i a bunch of copiers .
