If you're going on a long car journey, do you check oil, tyre pressures etc?

Posted by box-o-locks@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 293 comments

Dazpiece@reddit

Absolutely far quicker and MUCH less of a ball ache to check and sort those out beforehand versus breaking down somewhere dangerous waiting for recovery when you'd rather be enjoying your holiday

Ah true. Have edited that now. It's mostly muscle memory now so was struggling to remember what exactly the keys are (I'm on my phone right now)

And Ctrl+Shift + Left/Right arrow will highlight a word/words (handy for quick copying/deleting). Can also Ctrl+Shift+Backspace to delete by entire words at a time rather than by character. I have a very text-entry heavy job and the keyboard only route makes things so much quicker and effortless.

Many disabilities are invisible, so no, it's not necessarily "clear" to another disabled person that you too aren't a person with disabilities. Hence why they might not ask you to move even though the might need it more than you.

Yes and? The point still stands; they are the majority owner and operate the company. The other two owners are minor and do not operate the company.

How long did getting your floors fitted start to finish take?

Posted by rawpaprika@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 13 comments

Dazpiece@reddit

I found that the carpet fitters I've used in the past have been okay with planing the doors as long as you offer to pay as it is extra work and time for them. They initially said no outright until I offered to of course pay. Apparently lots of customers expect it to be "included" and don't take into account the extra time and effort that would add up on each job.

Moving back to the UK after 25 years; where should I move?

Posted by Amazing-Treacle-7067@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 79 comments

Dazpiece@reddit

While it's geographically close to Manchester, it's still shit if you need to go there regularly. Either a 2 hour drive through the Peaks on country roads. No other route on more major roads without going massively out of your way to get to m62. My parents in the midlands could drive to Manchester quicker and more simply than I could when I lived in Sheffield. Train is alright-ish at about an hour though. Not sure how packed that gets
