We sure did! We also listened to the radio, went to the record store at the mall, or hung out with friends at their house to discover new artists and songs we weren't familiar with, although that was mostly in the late 70s/early 80s when in high school. Our mother wouldn't let us listen to anything but classical music at home, so we mostly listened to music outside of the house or when she wasn't home. You're 100% right, though. There's no place like MTV today to stay current on music releases.

Thank you for posting on this topic. It's something I could have written as a 61 year old woman, because this is where I was for the past year or two. Until recently, I often asked myself, "Is this it? Is there more to life than this?" I had nothing to look forward to, was terribly lonely and felt so out of sorts most days. I love my job as a grants professional in a busy nonprofit that serves domestic violence survivors, but it's rather isolating work. Despite attempts to meet people and find meaningful connections with others in my off time, it's increasingly difficult to do so in today's world where people spend more time connecting online than in person. Then one day a coworker introduced me to a 57 year old, kind-hearted man with similar values who was also lonely and yearning for me. While it's too early to know what the future holds for us, I am excited about life and grateful for this opportunity to get to know him and experience life with someone else by my side.

I am 61 and haven't slept well in years. Getting to sleep is easy peasy, but I wake up multiple times a night. I often call it at 2:30 or 3:00 and just get up. So annoying, and no doctor seems able to resolve the problem.

I was born on the cusp of the Boomer and Gen X generations, but identify more strongly with Gen X. Whenever I hear, "ok, Boomer," I don't take it personally. It says more about the one making the accusation..

Yeah, I received that punishment a couple of times. I actually enjoyed it, because it gave me the chance to practice penmanship. I won the Best Penmanship award in 5th and 6th grades LOL.
