Who had one of these?

Modeled after the Whitney Wolverine pistol, who terrorized the neighborhood with one of these? I surely did.
Accomplished_Cash630@reddit
One of my favorite toys along with the balsa wood airplanes
Slight-Journalist417@reddit
Guillows kits? I loved putting them together.
Eastern-Interest8344@reddit
Yeah, had one. It was spring loaded, I believe. I think I spray painted mine black and eventually took it apart to see how it worked. Archaeologists will be digging those plastic BBs up in a hundred years and analyzing them for their cultural significance.
Burly13@reddit
Setsuna00XN@reddit
Got mine from K-Mart.š
Got it taken away 5 minutes after getting home for shooting my brother in the ass. Never saw it again.š¤£
BOHICAbeast@reddit
I had the same model and color. The ammo was easily lost in the back yard.
wildboarpate@reddit
Had the exact one & then the disc version.
Such weird safety standards back then.
Possible_Sound_5704@reddit
What are safety standards?Ā
Unfair-Joke-2567@reddit
We had fun standards. I know not of these safety standardsā¦
Away_Particular_5660@reddit
Wowww!
I_Lick_Your_Butt@reddit
I had a bright yellow one.
badaimbadjokes@reddit
You mean the Ole booger filler 9000? That's a yes.
Cronus6@reddit
Never actually owned one.
We used to go into our local Kmart and open them and have running gun fights throughout the store though.
Sometimes we'd get kicked out, sometimes not.
BTweekin@reddit
Me & it was my favorite
KM68@reddit
Didn't have that one. I had the one that shot the plastic disks.
Pennies also worked.
Ok-Lawfulness-6820@reddit
I had the blue one!
rbrumble@reddit
I never saw one of these, but was a fan of the disk guns. I had the Star Trek phasor disk gun and that was big fun. Would find a forgotten disk somewhere in the house for years after the gun was long gone.
CandidateReasonable4@reddit
Same! I have great childhood memories of tormenting my brother using the Star Trek phasor pistol!
rbrumble@reddit
Found it
CandidateReasonable4@reddit
OMG! Thank you for sharing this commercial with me. William Shatner was so handsome back in the day...the perfect James T. Kirk!!
Wonderful_Market_830@reddit
More than 1
rm78noir@reddit
It was fun. I preferred the disc shooter. It was more fun.
Leicageek@reddit
My dad and I modified them to shoot Pennies at pumpkinsā¦. Letās just say that escalated.
Unistrut@reddit
I had one, and the disc gun, as did a bunch of the guys in my dorm. We'd hunt each other at night during college. The pellets were more accurate, but the disc gun was better for spray-n-pray.
As an adult, now I want a Whitney Wolverine, but they are expensive.
Hilsam_Adent@reddit
The Wolverine is best loved from afar. My Pops has one, produced in '59, that he bought for a "fun little plinker".
It shoots well enough, but the tube shroud gets fucked up fast, is hard to clean and the mags are a pain in the ass to load.
Unistrut@reddit
Maybe an airsoft version then. That's how I cured my desire for a gas-seal Nagant.
-Exile_007-@reddit
Mine was orange.
ajkimmins@reddit
Holy shit! Memory overload!
soopirV@reddit
Got drunk before last Christmas and spent way too much on 4 disc guns so I can have battles with my kids. Best present of the year- miss these little rubber bbs!
Hefewiezen1@reddit
Yup. Had these and the rifles! Yup
TBone281@reddit
Had this, also, the Star Trek disc gun. The best!
rjm1775@reddit
I shot one these at my buddy, and somehow planted a rubber BB way up his nostril. He freaked, but eventually got it out. Good times.
edventure_2025@reddit
Yeah I had several of these. I wish I still did.
seeingeyegod@reddit
several, and the gun that shot little frisbees. That one was better really, those discs went way further than the plastic BBs, and were easier to find
Silky_Slim@reddit
The discs didn't hurt as much and I never remember caring about finding the little bbs. We had loads of them.
LGH68@reddit
Tracer gun!
Silky_Slim@reddit
My cousins and I would have Zebra wars.
Fantastic-Stock664@reddit
Terrorized my brother and family. He and I used to battle around the house. Also with the small disc guns too
AnnOnnamis@reddit
Exactly. Mine shot the orange discs.
PositiveStress8888@reddit
I had the star trek ones, it fired little spinning disks that hurt like a MFker when they hit around your eye area
hairygorilla451@reddit
Flashing back to the sting!
Weary_Boat@reddit
Loved it, wish I still had it
Tangboy50000@reddit
This brought back memories. Iām pretty sure I lost all the bbās the first day.
ertyertamos@reddit
Oh yeah. Loved that.
The_Arch_Heretic@reddit
We used to put our names in a hat before classes in high school and go after the "target" for the day. Some of us had the shotgun in our lockers. We never got caught or in trouble for it either. Probably end up in prison or shot dead nowadays. š«¤
On a different note, I fugured out that popcorn kernels would shoot real nasty out of one. My siblings did NOT appreciate that trick! š¤£
FallenValkyrja@reddit
I had that one and the Space: 1999 disc shooter. Lots of fun. I preferred the discs to the pellets.
R0CK1TMAN1@reddit
The discs had superior ballistics.
tybeej@reddit
YES!!!
Malamute_Dad_65@reddit
I had that and the pump shotgun
ImCaffeinated_Chris@reddit
We had that too!
Mom was not happy about finding yellow BBs all over the house for months.
paintedwoodpile@reddit
Yup. 3 of us boys would buy a new one of these for our arsenal every chance we could get.
Deftably@reddit
No sir, I did not. And if you are curious I also did not get the red rider bb gun, or the Nintendo.
alvehyanna@reddit
I had the disc shooting one....
BooksNCatsNWineNSnax@reddit
My cousins did. I donāt think you could walk a block in the 70s without seeing at least one of those pellets in the gutter.
Federal-Membership-1@reddit
š
Learned-Dr-T@reddit
I had one. It was not nearly as good as the disc gun.
EmergencyFace2326@reddit
The disc gun was a game changer
Vigilante17@reddit
I would make pictures of bad guys, set them up hanging and then mist them with water. Then I would put on the Miami Vice soundtrack tape and anyway I started blasting!!!
EmergencyFace2326@reddit
My three cousins and myself used to shoot each other with the one pictures above. Which most of the time they went 2 feet. Then I showed up with a disk gun. It was a game changer until the A-Team gun came out that shot darts that looked like red grenades. They hurt lol
Aromatic_Revolution4@reddit
Hell yeah! My brother and I had some serious wars with those things.
Wouldn't be surprised if the people living there today still came across those little yellow shots rolling out from under a baseboard or something every now and again.
Zandor72@reddit
My brother and I each had one... good times.
Dunkelregen@reddit
Same here. They didn't hurt... that much.
itgoesineasy@reddit
We only had the disc guns
M8knDrnks@reddit
You could see the path of the disk, when firing them too.
seeingeyegod@reddit
were you on acid?
jbell1974@reddit
The discs were so much better
freudianSkinner@reddit
Disks went farther - like tiny Frisbees
Muggi@reddit
I did! And as an adult Iāve always wanted the real firearm it was modeled from - the Whitney Wolverine. So cool
seeingeyegod@reddit
woah, yeah I think theres a forgottenweapons episode about that one.
DeaddyRuxpin@reddit
I actually still have mine, and a small collection of the yellow rubber pellets.
Clean_Match_459@reddit
That one and rifle that matched
Fazaman@reddit
Oh wow. That "Zebra II" logo instantly brought back memories. I remember we had at least two of these things in exactly that color.
hazelquarrier_couch@reddit
I had one in blue. I collected the BBs after I shot them so I could use them again.
The_Machine80@reddit
The first airport gun, had the pistol and shotgun. Lucky these where actaully soft back in the day. New airsoft guns will make you bleed!
monogram-is-king@reddit
Mine was blue. Back during the mid 1980s, we members of my high school marching band had a āhit list game where I used my toy gun to get the people on my list. We used to do this in the halls between classes. You sure canāt do that anymore these days.
stonymessenger@reddit
I had the disc version and we figured out how to make it effectively fire pennies. It survived all the way to high school when it finally broke.
oldartistmike@reddit
I had one, it was awesome too
Mr_Tort_Feasor@reddit
Why is my mom on the cover.
TexasHuck@reddit
Heck yeah!
dooby0782@reddit
I had this but the orange one.
Kokodhem@reddit
I had multiples of those. That and the disk guns.
battlesong1972@reddit
I had a few of these
Revolutionary_Gap150@reddit
I had enough of these to start a small insurrection
MikeyRidesABikey@reddit
I had this and the disc shooter!
Individual-Trick3310@reddit
The day I snuck into the first Police Academy movie, I bought one of these at KB Toys and shot at people from the upper deck of the mall.
Man, I was a little shit.
kdrits@reddit
One? I had like seven of them, and my mom vacuumed up thousands of those little rubber pellets
ArcanumAntares@reddit
In college, there were about 30 people who lived in my dorm, myself included, who carried these around in the dorm on weekends looking for any of our similarly-armed colleagues to ambush with tiny, yellow pellets.Ā It didn't matter if we had other stuff to do on those nights or during the day or whatever, or if we had just got back at 3am from some drunken blowout, these and the guns that discharged the little plastic discs were all over the place.Ā It was not uncommon, especially on rainy weekends, to hear or see or be a part of roving firefights through the hallways and lounges with these things.Ā Ā
...reminds me a little bit of the movie T.A.G.: The Assassination Game.Ā That's probably where we got the idea for using these goofy, medium-velocity pellet dispensers, only in a less organized manner.Ā Wandering around the dorm, one could easily find a few of these pellets in corners and in stairwells.
Reboot-Glitchspark@reddit
I remember playing Killer: The Game of Assassination back in high school with the theatre kids. The other metalheads thought it was nerdy, but I didn't care about that, it was fun.
Looks like the original game book came out a year before that movie.
poss-um@reddit
You can probably still find a few of these on the floor of my grandfatherās house. He died in 1981, but we (my cousins and I) lost a lot of those mfers.
RandyBeaman@reddit
I thought the disk guns were better. They were both terribly inaccurate.
Some-Cartographer942@reddit
might break paper target if you held it just right.
Slywit74@reddit
Not gonna lie, i was a little shit with one of these as a kid. My friends and i would go to the mall and plink people from the upper level.
charlotteREguru@reddit
Me too! Lol
mattwb72@reddit
This was a gateway drug to an actual BB gun. Even cooler were the disc shooter guns.
I-use-to-be-cool@reddit
I loved those disc shooter guns!!
mattwb72@reddit
Watching that spinning disc fly through the air was so satisfying. I feel like i would still enjoy the hell out of it as a "grown adult".
I-use-to-be-cool@reddit
We have nufr dart guns around the house and every now and then someone is getting blasted by one and I could only imagine the carnage if we had these!!
Majestic-Result7072@reddit
Went through dozens of these and the disc shooter. Those disks would light up under a blacklight..
chimpyjnuts@reddit
Those plastic balls got lost faster than the spinning discs!
t0mj0nes36@reddit
We had the disk ones
chimpyjnuts@reddit
My older brother got both, I got 2 guns and like 3 rounds that were left lol.
HarveyMushman72@reddit
I was digging a new flower bed a few years ago and found one of those.
Mobile_Aioli_6252@reddit
I had this one and the one that shot those plastic discs
HighJeanette@reddit
Omg do they still sell them?
Embarrassed-Bench392@reddit (OP)
I don't think so. I found this one at an estate sale.
pistafox@reddit
These would shoot pennies. Hard! I know there was a disc shooter version but the BB shooter could be loaded with a penny and break aaaall sorts of stuff.
PetroleumVNasby@reddit
The disc one was better.
CraneGuy204@reddit
I had totally forgotten about this until now.. oh the memories
PetroleumVNasby@reddit
The disc ones were better.
Chemical_Evidence244@reddit
Ditto
HCraven1@reddit
Some friends and I had them as teens. We pulled up next to some rando at a stoplight, and at least three of us let loose with a barage of shots into his car window. He thought he was being attacked by bees. This would not end well for us nowadays.
Markaes4@reddit
Yes, just like that, but black with a white handle. Interestingly I got it on vacation and was able to carry it into the plane on the way home.
I remember getting one of the (kinda) realistic wood and metal old fashioned rifles they used to sell at disney world and walking around the park all day pointing it at stuff and pretending to shoot. Imagine doing that today. Or running around with our entertech squirt guns at night.
Objective_Fun4866@reddit
Totally spraypainted that bad boy
FabricArsonist@reddit
I had this for a grand total of 5 minutes. Apparently shooting my older brother of 9 years constantly was not allowed.
I had the disk one for slightly longer. My sister, 8 years older, did not appreciate being beaned in the forehead and my mom decided weapons were not allowed in my hands.
I wanted a bb gun when I was 10, and was an only child. My mom pointed to these two as a reason absolutely not was the answer.
Exciting_Turn_9559@reddit
These and the disc guns were the best weapons we had in the pre-super-soaker, pre-nerf dart era.
gbr1976@reddit
Just one? I had a couple; this one, and the disc version.
xop293@reddit
My sister hated me. Jesus, tears on Xmas morning
rfriend73@reddit
Hell yeah ! We thought we were badasses running around with those.
HarveyMushman72@reddit
Had a pump style shotgun version
Fanman2400@reddit
Loved mine
Jwheat71@reddit
Just one?
Bugibba@reddit
Problem was the refills. My parents never followed up. Same with the disk gunā¦.
wetwater@reddit
I'd keep my eye out and would occasionally find some pellets or a disc on the ground. More often it was a disc that I found.
colbykh@reddit
OMG - the best toy. My brother had a joker of a friend who always played like a youngster goofball and he bought these for us to have room to room combat (my mom was pissed)
rooftopburners@reddit
Yes indeed. Loved it.
bc90210@reddit
Absolutely loved this and the disc gun!!
hglndr9@reddit
We sure did.
wetwater@reddit
A bunch of us had them in my neighborhood when I was a kid, but it was very rare anyone actually had any ammo for it. I only had some because I carefully picked mine out of the dirt.
Same thing with the disc guns. They were around but virtually no one had the discs to shoot out of it.
FanHot4964@reddit
Shot my brother right up his nose with one. āļø š
imcrowning@reddit
I used to chew a yellow rubber bullets.
WayPowerful484@reddit
And spit them at my brother
whistlepig4life@reddit
Had two to double fist it.
My fave was the disc one.
marklar7@reddit
I had that version. Same color.
ClayMitchellCapital@reddit
Heck yeah. Mom was pissed when she vacuumed
POresteen@reddit
I might still have a bb stuck in my ear.
madisonbear@reddit
Me!
God knows why I was allowed to have this. lol.
EmbarrassedAge7612@reddit
Mine was blue and I also had the shotgun with the realistic paint job. Before it was bright orange.
Jolly_Grocery329@reddit
Yeah - but it didnāt compare to my Daisy one pump BB gun.
PacRat48@reddit
Terrorized the vacuum cleaner
alphatigerdesign@reddit
Lotās of these went right up the vacuum cleaner by my mom. This thing was awesome.
wheresbill@reddit
I didnāt have one but my neighbor One-Eyed Ralphie had one
Express_Area_8359@reddit
leicanthrope@reddit
Judging by the design of the package, I think Iām on the wrong end of Gen X to have had one.
Useful_Humor_1152@reddit
I googled They came out in the 1960s and remained popular through the 70s and early 80s. That covers all of Gen X. I like you don't remember these either and I was born in the 60s.
I remember Cap Guns
PlatypusDependent271@reddit
Yeah and I also had one that shot colored plastic disks about the size of a penny.
Redebo@reddit
This was my jam. I always had pockets full of those discs.
Gone_feral27@reddit
Raises his hand wi
Gone_feral27@reddit
With a bit of guilt for shooting his cousin in the eye.
Gone_feral27@reddit
It was temporary damage. And to be fair, he was much bigger and tried to pin me down to dangle loogies in my face. No phlegm in face! Hard rule.
Gone_feral27@reddit
You get shot with yellow pellets
highlander0013b@reddit
I loved this one
NuclearCamera@reddit
I had one of these. My step father also figured out the pellets were perfectly sized to work with the paper tube of dry cleaner hangers so you could use it like a blow gun. Using this method, they would fly much faster and hurt quite a more than the plastic gun would. I switched weapons pretty quickly, ditching the plastic gun in favor of the paper tube.
Dr_StrangeloveGA@reddit
I had this one and the disc one.
Good_Nyborg@reddit
Those disc ones were great. Felt like I was loading up a magazine when putting the discs into it.
foresyte@reddit
I liked the disc one more, but lost every disc and pellet.
CaptBogBot2@reddit
I did. Lost all the little pellets...
jakegio1@reddit
Remember the really good ones that had the yellow bullets? Those things were cool.
CaptainZeroDark30@reddit
I had so much fun with this. The one that shoots the little discs was also very fun. Cleaning up the little yellow balls and discs drove my mother crazy though.
brianwhite12@reddit
Iām certain there is a deep pile shag rug in a landfill that you can still dig out those yellow balls.
zabacam@reddit
LOVED these - had one in blue as well. We also had the similar model that shot the little, multi-colored discs. SO much fun.
SnooPickles55@reddit
Yeah, I had the blue disk gun.
Worried_Buffalo_8535@reddit
Is that Judge Judy?
warrenao@reddit
Zero accuracy, 110% fun. These and the disc shooters were mainstays.
machinaurum@reddit
You still have it brand new in the package?
Embarrassed-Bench392@reddit (OP)
I do.
AintNobodygotime13@reddit
I had the shotgun too
GrandeT42@reddit
I had one that looked very much like this except that it used little plastic discs.
AintNobodygotime13@reddit
those were fun too. and they shot way further
samebatchannel@reddit
I had the shotgun too. It was annoying to pick up the pellets
TheMomentOfInertia@reddit
One?! My brother and the neighborhood crew went through dozens haha Those things were great!
Yada-Yada-Yadda@reddit
I remember playing with these with my brother and friends. We would be shirtless so we can evaluate the "damage" afterward. Let's just say Mom wasn't happy.
Great memories! There was a special way to make them shoot straight if i remember.
Inevitable-Notice351@reddit
Great toy
AtOm-iCk66@reddit
I had one and was riding in the back of a car stopped at a light. I shot it and hit some ladyās arm that was resting on the car door since the window was down. It startled the crap out of her but of course did no harm.
itwillmakesenselater@reddit
I likedcthe guns that shotcthose little, nickel sized plastic discs. Those had a little more zip than granddad's airsoft.
Whatever21703@reddit
I did. The shotgun was better.
Rough-Patience-2435@reddit
Pretty sure we used these or similar disc gun to play "Assassin" at school.Ā Yes, game was approved by administration.Ā Bring play guns to school.Ā Ā Yes, times have changed.Ā
My most stressful target was the bully of my best friend.Ā In the end he was a good sport about the hit.Ā I was eliminated shortly after.Ā Ā
DogsAreOurFriends@reddit
Yup
funkhour@reddit
I had one. Loved it.
watchwatertilitboils@reddit
I used to love chewing on the ammo
FoxSquirrel69@reddit
100% THIS! During times of war, I'd bite the rounds off and spit them in the gun for maximum efficiency.
vorpalpillow@reddit
so did my cat
those little balls were everywhere
Fart_Morning@reddit
I wanted one but my mother was 100% against guns of any kind..... I retired from the armed forces a few years ago.Ā
lionbacker54@reddit
i WANTED one of these so badly!
alternatively, i wanted the cap gun where you could fast load a ring of six shots all at once.
all i had though was the colt cap gun where you had to load your shots like a typewriter
Didthatyesterday2@reddit
everyone!
BlownCamaro@reddit
I had the Zebra 3.
thegreatgatsB70@reddit
Game on. This made BB Gun wars fun.
greatlakesseakayaker@reddit
I had the pump shotgun

"Bigger, Better, Longer." I guess I missed that part as a kid!
TosaFF@reddit

My twin brother and I used to terrorize each other with these. Then we got real BB guns and it was game on.
