What’s the best way to find a new job?

Affectionate-Owl9594@reddit

It depends what your role is, Google your industry and level and you should be able to find recruiting companies directly. If you’re C-suite (or a couple of levels below) you’d be looking for executive search rather than recruiting.

How much are people generally paying for engagement rings in UK?

Posted by Wonderful-Advisor-18@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 124 comments

Affectionate-Owl9594@reddit

DeBeers invented the “it should cost a month’s salary” thing as a marketing ploy in the 1930s. The type of ring your partner will like will impact cost. My engagement ring was >£2k and I didn’t like it, the style I wanted is usually about £300.

Get qualifications in everything I currently pay other people to do - electricians, bricklayers, plumbing, plastering, hairdressers, etc. I’d also go back to uni and do a Master’s in English Literature for fun. That would probably take almost all of it.

Do the Public and Private Sector in the UK promote WFH or RTO?

Posted by quebexer@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 15 comments

Affectionate-Owl9594@reddit

It varies industry to industry and company to company. I’m private sector professional services and am free to come and go as I please, whereas my friend in the same sector at a company of similar size is mandated 3dpw in-office.

A day trip from London to Windermere, primarily for the Beatrix Potter house. Is it doable?

Posted by Ill-Requirement-7029@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 31 comments

Affectionate-Owl9594@reddit

I’ve done this and it was way too long a journey. If your trains either way get delayed (or overbooked…or cancelled!) it’s basically pointless, imo, and can be really stressful. Windermere is beautiful and really deserves at least two days! I really think it’s worth saving until you can do it a bit more comfortably.
