I drove the car 4 hours home and when I got there beer cans rolled out from under the driver and passenger seats. Opened up all 3 ashrays and there were mj roaches in all 3, there's only 3 front seats! So it was a pretty good and reliable hearse.

Are non official dealership places ok to look at for a good car?

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

I'm guessing tour dad only means A lots and no B lots, right? There are good B lots, but there are way more really bad ones. It's just as likely to get a bad car from an A lot too, you just have to know what you're looking for.

Which mechanic to trust for 30k mile general maintenance?

Posted by Chodge98@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 11 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

Coolqnt needs to be done every 5 years, not milage. Plugs likly don't need to be done, injector cleaning also probably doesn't need to be done. Probably needs an Italian tune up, check the brake fluid for mosture, that's aboot it.

How does it feel to drive a fun analog car? Can you make a newer car feel analog?

Posted by Jealous_Advance9765@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 39 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

It really depends on how analog you want to go, my daily is 25 years old my sports car is 35 and my very analog car is 40. The newset is the fastest and best handling, but it still has some driving aid. The 35 year old just had engine management computer, and it constantly tries to kill you. The 40 year old is very slow, soft and easy to drive.

There's a great saying, if you want to be a good mechanic, own an old Subaru. If you want to start easy, Honda. I find Honda really easy to work on, lots of cheap and available parts, lots of notes and videos.

Got my tire patched at discount tire still getting a low psi within less than a day of getting it fixed. Should I take it back there?

What is this part called?

Posted by Irishlily77@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 16 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

That's just the wheel size. You need to take into consideration other measurements, bolt pattern, hub diameter and offset. There are thousands of combinations and you probably aren't going to guess correctly. Guessing is going to put you and your car at very serious risk.

Fun and reliable, neither. The audi will be more fun, but the jeep will be cheaper for the constant repairs. The only thing reliable here is the money you will be settling on fire.

Is this mechanic trying to rip me off or is this a reasonable price?

Posted by numi986@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 74 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

The price isn't the problem if they are damaged, it's over 10 years old now, so it may have done damage. I'm surprised fuel filter isn't on the list, it would be gunky too if the other parts were damaged.

What non-EV would be better or at least interesting as a BEV?

Should I fix these 2 problems before selling my car?

Posted by HistoricalEdge8130@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 1 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

I guess it depends on where you live and how much the resale value is. I would replace the battery, it's easier to sell when lights aren't spooking people away, and it's not very expensive.

Is there any reason for me to not get a Prius?

Posted by joshua0005@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 145 comments

Talentless_Cooking@reddit

If your total budget is 12k, spend 10k or less, it's a budget for repairs. The one thing that's a gotcha on prius is the cat, they are targeted for theft and they are crazy expensive to replace.

If you're looking for a car that's going to need to be serviced regularly, these are good choices that will keep you wrenching. I also recommend Subaru around the same years, lots of work to keep you busy. Volvo is the safest, but the most expensive for parts.
