Has anyone found a way to stop birds from pooping on car mirrors and doors?

Title: Anyone else have birds obsessed with pooping on your car?
At first I thought I was dealing with the most accurate poop snipers in the animal kingdom. Every day, same spots down the side of my doors.
Then I caught them in the act — landing on the mirrors and window ledges, pecking at their reflection, and apparently turning my car into their personal bathroom and boxing gym.
Has anyone else dealt with these psychopathic poopers?
I’ve read about mirror covers, plastic bags, fake owls/snakes, reflective tape, sprays, decals, and the ultrasonic “sonic boom” type deterrents. From the reviews, it sounds like birds eventually adapt and return to their undeniable mission of pooping on the car.
Cleaning helps for about five minutes, then they come right back. I tried moving where I park and covering the mirrors, but then they moved to the windows and even the door handles.
Has humanity lost the battle to the feathered psychos, or is there an engineered solution that actually works long-term besides a full car cover?
I bought a nice car because I like the way it looks. Plus, it makes my brother jealous. I’d rather not keep it wrapped up like it’s in witness protection.
Any real-world fixes that worked without scratching paint, damaging trim, or hurting the birds? (yes I have a pellet gun - but I love the birds and hate their shat)

Grocery bag around it with rubber band to hold

I poop on their nests. Either stops it right away or the way is on!

Was referred to this product....www.dropstopperusa.com. Actually goes at the problem two ways. Makes it so they cant box with themselves and they cant rest in between rounds on the mirror or window seal. Ordered some and will report back.

Great lead, very interesting. I had no idea that pooping was a defense mech. Just like the monkeys. 😂 😂

Everyday emotional damage...might have to spend some human ingenuity on this one.

I don't know if there's a shape or material that birds don't or won't land on, but if there is you can place it on top of your mirrors when you're parking.
At my job, they tied down traffic cones on top of light poles in some areas to keep birds from nesting there, I presume the same idea works in different circumstances

A few years ago, a female cardinal spent all of her energy and most of the day attacking my truck mirrors. My kids dubbed her "the retardinal." If I remembered to fold my mirrors I got a little less poop, but she still attacked my bumpers and door handles. Her husband would sit in a nearby tree looking distraught and sort of pleading with her to give it a rest. She either died or aged out of this behavior, so I had a year with no mirror poop.
This year a house wren started doing it. To add insult to poop, she built her nest on the ground (like a simpleton) and I installed a temporary fence around it to protect her babies from our dogs. Did she appreciate it? No! She flitted from her nest to my truck all day long.
So, too late to make a long story short, but folding your mirrors is the closest thing to a solution.

I have the same pooping birds at my house too. They love the mirrors on my Silverado 2500HD, especially the passenger side.
I've been unable to figure out a way to stop it. I'll be watching the responses to this discussion

I just slid plastic grocery bags over mirror and loose knot to hold on.

Cover your mirrors when you park your car, birds like to look at their reflection and they sit next to your window staring into the side mirror shitting down the door skin
Br0boc0p@reddit
I did this with rags over my mirrors and it stopped immediately.

Lol walked up to this last week then moved by tree got whole roof this week
Talentless_Cooking@reddit
Follow them home and poop in thier nest.

Don’t park under trees, lights, or power lines. That’s it. That’s pretty much all you can do.

It is a male bird defending his territory against his own image that he sees in the mirror or window. Tying plastic grocery bags over the mirrors using the handles to make knots to keep them in place worked for me. The bag blocks the reflection and so the bird stops seeing itself and trying to fight with the image. If there are marks on the mirrors and close to the mirrors on the glass then the bags should work. If they are attacking the windows themselves, then you can also roll towels or some cloth or something thin up into the window track and let it hang over or behind the glass to block the reflection so they will not have a mirror image of themselves to fight with.

It will just stop in a couple weeks when they're not so horny.

Two reasons I built a garage for my vehicles, bird shit, and the sun.

Experience has taught me that holographic stickered owls that can be found on Amazon are the solution. It's also completely effective against squirrels. I hung these from my porch, though, but I would imagine it would be just as effective for a car.

Some birds have long memories and can identify individual humans
Least_Confidence_225@reddit
Put a bird feeder next to your car, full birds don’t fight mirrors, lol
TheRealDVader@reddit
Close the mirrors. Or cover them.
Poopy-Drew@reddit
Double sided tape, the gorilla glue version is clear and really holds on. There’s only a very small chance of you coming out to a dead bird or leg stuck to the mirror but mostly upon first landing they will hate it and just choose to not hang out on your mirror
Marknsusan@reddit
IMO, begin with not parking under a tree
DotBitGaming@reddit
Park??? Dude. I was hit with a cat-seeking bird poop driving [the speed limit of course] down the highway!
No_Educator_6376@reddit
Sit outside next to the car and eat scrambled eggs to show them what you are capable of doing and they should stop after that out of fear..
DotBitGaming@reddit
I tried that and it scared the shit out of them! 😢

I have elected to cook chickens on my grill in the driveway.

Excellent plan sir!!

Love the subtly message...poop on my car and I whip your offspring.

Garage may help.

Purchase a Browning A5 12 gauge and sit in the parking lot approximately 15 yards from your car. Start blasting anytime a bird gets within sight.
xaxiomatikx@reddit
I have a local bird that is doing that to my old Expedition, but it’s 29 years old and I’m not too concerned with its looks. Just found the bird doing it yesterday again.
TraditionalBunch3827@reddit (OP)
beat down...lol. the bird wins!
bmwlocoAirCooled@reddit
park in a carport or garage.
TraditionalBunch3827@reddit (OP)
We live in the country...leave our doors unlocked and clothes are optional for mowing the lawn. Might be time to build the garage.
WittyFix6553@reddit
What excellent advice that is definitely possible and accessible to everyone
ElSupremo418@reddit
Stop parking under that tree.
K_Linkmaster@reddit
Yes, eliminate the car itself, that is the only solution.
It's nature dude, best bet is to run some preventative measures for the paints and plastics. I use ceramics after a double wax. If you want to keep it clean, start there or ask an expert on polishes. Then, keep some microfiber cloths and a spray detailer bottle in the trunk. Clean it up when you get in each time. Good luck!

Bird populations are plummeting so just be patient

12 gauge.
wh7751@reddit
It the reflection. Eliminate that and the birds will have no interest.
