100% agree with the Google sentiment. We have the Nest doorbell camera and Nest smoke detectors. Now the smoke detectors are nearing end of life and Google discontinued them and there is nothing remotely comparable on the market. We’ll need a new doorbell camera soon as well. Any new hardware and we will be forced to upgrade our Google home account and spend at over double just to get the same features we have now.

How many of you still have both parents alive?

I lost my dad around Christmas 2019. He was 68 as well. COPD. He was a lifelong smoker but quit after he had a heart attack about 5 or 6 years before that. After seeing everything he went through his last 2 months, my mom still won’t quit smoking.

Going out to eat was a fairly big deal growing up, and a family favorite was Ponderosa. Did you have a favorite "the family is going out to dinner" place?

I’m not a fan of Ford in general and the Flex was nothing to look at. However, we ended up getting a Flex for a rental once and it was the best rental ever. I had 8 month old twins at the time and we were visiting family. That car held ALL.THE.SHIT and was comfortable. I swear, every time my husband and I travel with the kids we still talk about how pleasantly surprised we were with that vehicle.

What else did we expose ourselves to?

‘82 here, on the border of SW Philly. Can confirm fights all the time, elementary through high school. In HS, super common to see pieces of weave in the hallways. When I was in 5th grade, there was this K or 1st grader who tried to pick a fight with one of my friends. Little kid went on a tirade and then calls my (guy) friend an “ugly fat fuck.” It was mean but also true and kinda funny.

I did the same. Girls were 100% worse than the boys. A female will run the long game and will plot, scheme and manipulate. The boys throw some punches and after that, it’s done.

I have two young daughters. Our last trip to the grocery store, I grabbed a bottle of the original Herbal Essences and told them this is what I used when I was younger. I let them smell it and they got all hype and asked if we could buy it to use for them 😂

Who else vibed on Crystal Pepsi? 👌

Crystal Pepsi reminds me of my uncle. He loved it. The problem was that he was diabetic, so he really couldn’t have it. Let me tell you about him. My uncle Ron was my favorite. He was about 6’5”, a Vietnam Veteran, loved motorcycles, had tattoos and you would always find him wearing jeans, biker boots, and usually a P.O.W. tshirt and hat. Most people found his appearance intimidating, but he was the kindest man I’ve ever known. He truly had a heart of gold and never went anywhere without finding a new friend. Seriously- a “quick” trip to somewhere would easily take double the time because there was always someone you’d find him chatting with. He ended up with cancer. It was fairly aggressive and treatments weren’t working. Towards the end, he was in the hospital. At one point he mentioned that all he wanted was a good burger and a Crystal Pepsi. The next time we visited, my dad made that happen. My uncle was elated. During his meal, the doctor came in and started yelling at everyone, primarily for giving my uncle a soda when he was diabetic. My dad snapped back at the doctor and said something along the lines of, “Are you kidding me? The man is dying of cancer and you’re worried about his diabetes?!? GTFO and let him enjoy his meal.” The doctor shut up and left the room. My uncle died not too much longer after that day. So any time I see Crystal Pepsi, it actually brings back fond memories of my uncle and the person he was.

Did you find your music here?

What’s a similar movie to The Sandlot that was for girls? The only one I can come up with is Now & Then.

I’m a girl and I grew up with the Sandlot as one of my favorites. I don’t think anything can really compare to the spirit it captured. My husband and I quote it and had a big movie night when we introduced it to my twins (girls, now 7) and they loved it. They will regularly request to watch it as well.

Fellow xennial ladies - isn’t awesome how fast chin hairs grow? You know, in case it breaks off when you’re trying to tweeze it out. At least you get another opportunity to try again the next day💀

Thinning hair so I’m on both spirolactone and minoxidil. When the minoxidil was added, holy shit. My peach fuzz grows insanely fast. Can’t win. On the plus side, my one dark chin hair hasn’t made a grand entrance lately.

I’ve had this problem for years and according to my ENT, mine is allergy related. I have prescription errors that I can use when it gets bad but he also told me that a little mineral oil works. Might be worth it to check out the mineral oil as it’s cheap.

Due to the sheer number of “unprecedented” events we’ve lived through you’ve surely had a birthday overshadowed by one. So which one was it?

I have a cousin that is a few days older than me and actually have quite a few friends with birthdays all around mine. So my birthday is just overshadowed by everyone else’s. My parents even completely forgot about my 21st 🤷‍♀️

It’s not always terrible. With everything, there are people who have a horrible experience and a very difficult recovery as well as those where things aren’t that bad. I had everything taken but my ovaries a few years ago. My husband took care of EVERYTHING and kept the kids away and from jumping on me. (They were 3.5 so it was a task!) Honestly, my recovery wasn’t that bad. I had to be reminded to take it easy and to stop doing stuff. We won’t know how your experience will be, just make sure to prep yourself for the worst and hope for the best. As mentioned above, take the doctors post procedure orders and make sure you follow them. Don’t be afraid to reach out if something seems “off”. Do NOT have sex too soon. My husband would never pressure me to do anything like that, but I know some men are POSs and would expect that. My OB unlocked a new fear level with info that I passed onto my husband- sutures inside are dissolvable but are BARBED. If you have sex too soon before it’s able to heal, there’s a good chance he will FEEL the barbs. 😂 AKA- keep your wiener away! 🤣 In all seriousness, best of luck with your procedure. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Those On-Cor Salisbury steaks were 🤌 We also used to get the turkey ones and veal parm ones. For snack cakes, we also had the oatmeal cream pies but my favorite was Funny Bones. I still buy the oatmeal pies for my kids sometimes. Also, so many yummy things from Tastykake and Entenmann’s.
