Who are taxi drivers talking to, and what are they talking about?

I work with someone who does this, her phone is constantly on and she's talking to her friend who works in another area. It just feels awkward when you talk to her as she's not on mute and the other person will sometimes try and join in the conversation.

Former Colleague is asking me questions 1 month after I left the company - how to handle?

So I was in this position. Guy I worked with left, gave me a handover as I was taking over his duties. First month I dropped him a few questions as he said it would be okay to get in touch. After that month I just dealt with it, documented what I could and went on from there. Personally, if like him I left on good terms I'd do the same. I do know of another guy who took early retirement, they decided they could outsource what he did rather than replace him. Outsource didn't work out, so they hired him as a contractor. He'd get the odd days work every few weeks. So he gets a monthly retainer and a days pay whenever they need his support.

Anyone using a screensaver for corporate comms?

Lock screen was recently changed from standard windows one to a corporate image, I was shocked at how nice it looked. Heard lots of positive feedback. Some big wig complained saying it was too distracting and it was removed.

I was driving across the country a few weeks, took a family member who hasn't been driving for about 10 years. She asked about half way into the trip what happened to the cats eyes.

My area got rid of most public bins and employability security firm to give people fines. Usually the ones they fine are women with you children and the elderly. I hate litter, just give us some bins.

With 4/5G signal being so poor across the UK, should we not be entitled to compensation from network providers?

I live by a 5G mast and a new one got built about a mile away and my connection has got worse. Could it be the telecommunication companies are limiting connections to force the government into letting them get more built?

Thanks, I can ask Copilot myself

Best result I had with copilot was uploading a 200+ page manual we had for some kit. Was able to ask it some questions and it found the parts I needed instantly. Saved me having to search for keywords and skim reading each one until I found what I needed.

When did we as a profession loose our backbone.

Great one I heard this week was another department requesting 12 laptops so they can do a group interview / testing on Monday, rather than interviewing everyone individually. I advised service desk to decline the request unless they want to pay for 12 brand new laptops. Look forward to them kicking off.

If the government instigates the proposed social media ban, everyone would have to prove their age to be allowed to access Reddit. Would you submit your ID to access Reddit or will you give up social media rather than submit to ID checks?

I've used VPN for years, nothing changes unless they try and ban VPN. Thankfully this would be an absolute nightmare to enforce.

How to leave job when I have a 6 month notice period?

Posted by Winter-Lead-9126@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 168 comments

SMYLTY@reddit

I have 6 months notice, no one has had to wait 6 months as it's negotiated. One colleague was allowed to leave within a week, but he was a difficult person to work with and it was easier to be short staffed than deal with him doing nothing for a month.
