I'd wager that every single one of those 1.5 million people occasionally have information pertinent to their job that they need to be made aware of, and that having an NHS email, tied to all the rest of their employment account, is the best way to do so, from both work/life balance and cyber sec perspectives.

What is the point of the Lidl Plus card?

Posted by RegularHovercraft@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 100 comments

RepublicofPixels@reddit

There's 2 categories - coupons for you, which are user specific, and include things like the advent calendar, any scratchcard rewards, your spending milestones, which have to be added manually; and lidl plus offers, which are store wide, are shown on the price tag of the item on the shelf, and apply automatically - they're things like 30p off X, 3 baguettes for the price of 2, etc.

It’s looking likely that I’m gonna become homeless soon. Any advice on what to do?

The army has already invested a not insignificant amount of labour value in the selection process of and any onboarding that has been done for OP, so it's very much in their financial interests to use their organisational leverage to avoid getting zero return on both the labour invested, and the opportunity cost of the viable candidate being lost.

Cups is a highly flawed measure for solids, because your cup may be loosely packed or densely packed - loose pack if you pour product into the measure, and dense if you use the measure to scoop out the product, thus applying compression. Using dense cups when the recipe is for loose cups means, as others have said, you're using too little water for the amount of extra flour you added

Why does the no cycling sign sometimes have a line through it?

Posted by Other_Nothing2436@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 315 comments

RepublicofPixels@reddit

"real prohibitions" applied by a private company to their own private property, with the designs themselves also being made by a private company. Those signs have zero relation to the road signs designed by the government authorities.

They've been on a recruitment push for the last year and a bit, but it's a long process to certify an examiner, a large portion drop out of the process, and capacity for more examiner training needs to be built which also takes time, but once it starts coming onlind, the rate at which examiners being qualified will increase, and the backlog will start shortening exponentially.

Two clicks to prompt you to use the app, one click to go from their home screen to the sub menu, one click to decline making it a meal, one click to decline making any customisations (or increasing the quantity), one click to decline the hard upsell, one click to decline donating to RMHC. What are your thoughts on a member of a certain demographic using a phrase that is a slur towards that same demographic?

Posted by Opposite-Scheme-8804@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 462 comments

RepublicofPixels@reddit

There's a difference between "use professional and appropriate language", where using the accepted labels of queer, trans, gay, bi, lesbian, etc. are allowed because that's the term used even if a small minority still use them as slurs, but you wouldn't be allowed to use slurs like, in the post, f**, or t****y, because those aren't suited to a professional environment. It would still be possible to have professional conversations about LGBTQ+ using relevant terms for each group - it's not like people refer to het men as "studs" in an office environment and there's still plenty of discourse about that group.

For a given scenario, yes, emergencies are inconsistent, but on a wider scale level, you'll have more emergencies at certain times as a higher proportion of the population take part in activities that's more likely to cause a visit to A&E. It could also be other local factors such as the time when a minor injuries unit closes, which will push more traffic to a&e

The coffee the woman was served was hot enough to melt her skin. Coffee is hot, yes, but what she was given was unreasonably hot, and the PR team that McD's hired clearly earned their keep by convincing you that the woman was in the wrong for originally just wanting her medical costs covered.

Concerned parent, is this too many substitute teachers?

Posted by reviewwworld@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 296 comments

RepublicofPixels@reddit

Yep, and OP hasn't clarified what they mean by "40 substitute teachers" - is it that 40 individual periods have had a different teacher, how many of those teachers are another teacher from the department, how many others are the internal covers, and how many different teacher's classes this is. It could just be that one of the teachers is having a longer-term issue causing them to be off for multiple days, and that's driving up the stats.

Airport baggage collection etiquette. Is it just me, or is it generally annoying when people stand very close to the carousel making it difficult for others to see their bags?

Off - absolutely (provided you're not shoving other departees to be at the front of the queue), it's people who stand on the platform right by the doors, causing the people getting off to have to walk around them, between them and the people waiting normally, and making it slower to get off in general.

Are 'London' and 'Greater London' the same thing?

Posted by ThisIsSparta3@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 343 comments

If someone said "I'm from London", I'd assume Greater London including all boroughs. If someone said they were going to London, I'd assume they were going to somewhere within the A roads from Woolwich to Kensington, with a few exceptions on both sides of the road. If a tourist was talking about London, I'd assume they'd be going within the ring of A roads from Buckingham Palace to Tower Bridge, again some exceptions.
