Do Americans really split between saying soda, pop, and Coke, or is that exaggerated?

Posted by LowerMusic@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 1883 comments

GreatRecipeCollctr29@reddit

Yes, it's different depending on which state you reside. At the West Coast, it is called soda, softdrinks or cola. In the South, it's called cola or Coke because the Coca Cola hq is at Atlanta, Georgia. Utah is called pop. People are addicted to that drink, and they don't drink alcohol or caffeine. But they have a chain drink and sip shop called Sip that sells mocktails of sodas, and dirty sodas.

Americans dip their fries in a variety of sauces from different restaurants. The most common condiment is ketchup. Other sauces are mayo, aioli, another flavored aioli like pesto aioli, Chipotle mayo, etcetera. Tartar sauce, hot mustard, sweet and sour or warm cheese sauce. Americans love to dip fries or chips with a dipping sauce. There's a dipping culture for all finger foods from savory to sweet. The one thing we don't have here is Curry sauce from the Germans.

Even Chinese in France has like a sweet anise flavored taste to it. Ingredients from Adia are not really common in Europe yet. You can get almost anything in America because you have a melting pot of diverse international cultures here. Plus the Americanized versions taste little sweet and slightly spicy depending on the dish served.

Mexican in Europe is so mid because most people either don't like to spicy, or some can take the jalapenos without the seeds. Also using lack of authentic ingredients like dried chiles, etcetera.

How rare is it to have never gone to your state’s largest city?

GreatRecipeCollctr29@reddit

It's possible. I went to Sacramento when we stayed at the Hilton for a night before going to my cousin's house at Roseville. In the morning, I asked how much was the buffet there. They said they open around 9am. So I strolled at downtown Sacramento to find some breakfast options, then went to the SacKings stadium. I saw and thought the Sacramento had a vibrant foodie and nightlife there. I live in the Bay Area, so that's why I need a breather. The only difference is probably the vibe and diversity at the Bay Area. I mean I can drive 20 to 35 minutes for other fun activities too. That's life in NorCal. Then plan a trip to other National Parks, and other cities too for local vacation.

What does Halloween actually feel like growing up in the US?

GreatRecipeCollctr29@reddit

Halloween is about having fun and some play in character of what they wore. Some just make savory foods, artisanal candies, cookies, desserts, or sometimes buy treats, trading cards, or toys for children and teens going to neighborhoods saying trick or treat. Some homeowners decorate their houses with Horror or alien themed motifs with matching LED lights. But most teens go elsewhere to find things to do or hang out with friends. Jack o lanterns are also popular decorating motifs to do. We see a lot of creative people posting their designs out on IG, then put them on their front yard, front windows, or you see them at restaurants too. Pumpkin patches are popular too. On October to December, there are a lot of variety of pumpkins sold in supermarkets, farms, and groceries.

Yes, that's correct. All of the states have their own counties. A county is a group of cities or towns within a state. A county is used for demographics, population counts, distribution of social services and funding for government services from a State and Federal levels, taxes, and on elections for state and federal levels. It's how American state works in a Federal level. It's a system wherein each state works independently on their own way because there are laws that work differently.

Malls that are not dying are outlet malls, or any community malls that have full of people. Most of them are dying because of e-commerce, shopping habits have changed to online shopping, or buying clothes and necessities at bargain shops like Marshall's, Ross, and styles are moving forward to street wear by sports brands and aesthetic feel of casual street wear and durable clothes. Even consumerism among Americans has decreased too.

His perspective is leaning towards conservative, but his life was in the middle of the spectrum. So he's part of the moderates. At his time,he was a liberal against the British. Today and current times, he's conservative. But you also wonder what are his beliefs of the moral compass, principles and how certain events would change his stance? You need to think, reason and make rational decisions based on the Constitution, and it's laws too.

Why are Potato Chip prices so high?

GreatRecipeCollctr29@reddit

Prices went up during Covid, but companies raised prices. The quality of most food ingredients went down, and slash a little bit of portion sizes. With the current administration, there's no federal.or staye agency to bring those prices down. The supply chains and everything are either disrupted, cannot continue without support of the Federal government, inflation, taxes, etcetera. There are a whole lot of factors contributing to these mess.

Also, in high school. I observed some male students have unique cursive penmanship skills. I imitate how they do it,and what writing pens they use too.

1'm a 50F In elementary school, at my first period we were taught to learn how to read and write cursive. All of the classes had this on 2nd grade. It was a practical exercise for all of us on the 1st semester. Learning to understand and write cursive is a good exercise to recognize other people's unique handwriting and their thoughts, ideas and recognize how beautiful they have written. My state required all students from elementary to high school to write in cursive, so in the future and throughout their lives. They can read all documents, recipes, sign with their own signature and won't feel regret when it's too late to learn this penmanship and handwriting skill.

It's a complex process where 2/3 of the Congress will approve why a state will secede from the United States. It's a lengthy process too. From this era, multiple blue states wanted to join and their own group of states to make a country and the Constitution. First, it goes to the voters if they want to secede ( be separated) from the United States. Then it takes a lengthy process of the House and Senate to get their approval or not.
