Honda in Indonesia (my home country), traditionally a perennial number two (or three, accounting for Daihatsu - most Daihatsu models in Indonesia have Toyota twin versions) currently depends on the Brio, a subcompact. Too wide for Japan (1700mm width limit for tax breaks and road accessibility). Ironically, declining numbers of sub-1700mm narrows cars in Japan that aren't kei cars are something I've hearing from the Japanese side. (Lack of post-launch marketing doesn't help.)

Something that I came up during this idea is a new Nissan Silvia... with a Dodge twin (the name I had in mind is Dodge Daytona IROC/SRT-4) that would be challenging the GR86/BRZ. Other than that, a Stellantis-Nissan merger will also have some good effects for Stellantis access to the Asian market - both in Japan (remember, the NMKV kei car joint venture exists there) and Southeast Asia.
