How do married couples actually handle money? Joint account or separate? I’m confused 😭

Posted by Afraid-Rain-1124@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 70 comments

willp2003@reddit

Everyone is different. We have our salaries paid into our own accounts. From there we both put money into a joint account which the mortgage, bills, food and any other joint spending comes out. I put in a bit extra as I earn slightly more. We both then have left over money in our personal accounts to spend/save however we want. I mostly save, my wife mostly spends!

Is my mattress worn out? If yes, I want a pocket spring one, how much difference does it make to get more pocket springs? I have chronic pain so comfort and pressure point relief really matters. Also, brands?

Posted by Broken_Woman20@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 163 comments

willp2003@reddit

As others have said, you have to go and try them in a shop. I didn’t like the idea of these mattress topper/pillows (that you find on some now) that can’t be removed to be replaced. We got our mattress from Bensons (igel one) and a base from our local small independent store.

Didn’t have one. My mates are massive drinkers, and I barely drink now so it didn’t feel right. They tried to convince me to do something, but I know all too well, even if we’d have done an activity it would have ended up in a pub.

To those who have made the transition from manual to automatic cars, is it really better?

Posted by Mr_Coastliner@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1312 comments

willp2003@reddit

I’ve hated the ICE automatics I’ve driven, and would prefer a manual over automatic. However, I now have an EV and that is so easy to drive. One pedal driving is so much better. Cheap charging costs add to the fact I’ll never go back to ICE.

We have the velvetiser (original) and we often have to make multiple cups, and I’ve always said a bigger version would be better. We sometimes use powdered chocolate but it sticks to the bottom. I might look into that Smeg. Thanks

Having several near misses suggests you’re not paying attention to your surroundings and anticipating what others will do. You can’t rely on everyone driving sensibly however, so I’m not saying it’s your fault. Take them off when you feel confident.
