How often do you clean your windows (inside)?

My partner thinks most people do them every week, I think that is probably a bit of a stretch. How often do you clean the inside of your windows?
Some_Ad6507@reddit
Never
boosquad@reddit
Fortnightly. Prior to my disability, when I could clean myself, it was weekly.
pikantnasuka@reddit
About once every two months in most rooms but weekly in the bathroom as it is next to the shower and gets splattered with soap etc
BG3restart@reddit
They will get cleaned when I put the house up for sale.
k20vtec01@reddit
Never puts the house up for sale
simmyawardwinner@reddit
but puts the horse up for sale

sabretoothian@reddit
Cleans horse (inside)

After the amount I've spent on house repairs, I'm not selling. I'm getting my money's worth 🤣
Rachael008@reddit
lol Like it
Bugs301@reddit
Thank fuck for you, I saw the post and was like what? I'm supposed to do that too?! If I can't see out of them, then I'd clean them.
Rough-Sprinkles2343@reddit
I’m so glad this is the top comment. Who the fuck has time to clean the inside? Inside?!!!
Andries89@reddit
Ew.
MyDarlingArmadillo@reddit
Likewise. I've been here 13 years now.
NGeoTeacher@reddit
Kitchen and bathroom - every week. They get steamy and stuff gets spattered on them. I also have a mould problem in my house so it's essential they stay clean.
Other windows...dunno. When I remember to clean them.
NervousBug7077@reddit
Sooo.My wife is a bit of a OCD clean freak. Hover 3 times a week, dust almost daily, bathroom twice sometimes three times a week. But windows, we do these once a year. At the start of summer. Weekly seems kinda crazy. I should state I do alot of the cleaning and it's not her responsibility
glitterstateofmind@reddit
Does she happen to have a cleaning instagram account? I feel that there’s a lot of performative cleaning people do these days all in the name of ‘content’.
NervousBug7077@reddit
Not mine but she would do a good job if she did. Polish heritage has many perks haha
StuartHunt@reddit
I can honestly say that I have lived here for 13 years and only clean them when I can't see outside, so far they haven't been cleaned.
Not-That_Girl@reddit
So nice of him to volunteer to do that job! I wonder how long that will last.
As for me, couple times a year, maybe
Ruby-LondonTown@reddit
Rarely…..probably twice a year when I do my deep cleans.
MangelTosser@reddit
Never. My windows are all blown so I don't see why I should clean them.
I plan on replacing them when my materials budget gets round to it
sp1z99@reddit
bacon_cake@reddit
I can hear the crunching.
CurvePuzzleheaded361@reddit
Every week at least. I like a clean home and to me, the things that allow light into my home should be clean.
RequirementThink4675@reddit
Yeah simply too lazy dust and grime and cobwebs ans mould and damp build up then
RequirementThink4675@reddit
I know even my Mary Beetons housekeeping says inside of windows should be done monthly
RequirementThink4675@reddit
Nothing wrong with that good for you windows inside should be cleaned monthly at least and im guilty of not doing enough of that myself
veryoddnames1989@reddit
Twice a year when the landlord comes for a visit to check I’m not putting up too many pictures or whatever they worry about. Also when the decorations get rotated out for Halloween and Christmas they will get a cursory microfibre.
chonkifluff@reddit
I clean my windows inside and out four times a year, usually at the beginning of each season. I don’t realise how grubby they are until I do it. It’s so easy to not notice!
RequirementThink4675@reddit
Best time to do it at each season unless they get very dirty
VioletsSoul@reddit
Every week? Hell no. I clean them when they look like they need it.
Good_Lettuce_2690@reddit
Don't actively clean them. If there's a mark I'll give it a wipe. Same with the outside. Don't think I've "properly" cleaned them in 25 years of living here.
Xanyla@reddit
The only window that gets cleaned very regularly in our house is the window in the kitchen, in front of.... The sink! Constant splashes and splooshes, gets done once a week minimum, the rest however... I'm not sure, probably the last time we decorated the room :-$
We always get the outside done because they do get visibly grubby. Especially when the rain comes carrying all the sand!
Suspicious_Banana255@reddit
It was probably January, as I'd used celotape to stick decorations to the windows.
tionne548@reddit
You partner must have superhuman motivation. I barely manage to notice the dust, let alone clean it weekly.
the-TARDIS-ran-away@reddit (OP)
Oh no, we do it every few months but he was making out we were scumbags for it because "everyone else does it weekly"
Airurando-jin@reddit
Ideally , every morning but it doesn’t happen.
The entire reason , condensation and mould
SavageRabbitX@reddit
I pay a dude who happens to be my weed dealer as well
CaveJohnson82@reddit
ROFL. I do them when it starts getting sunny and you can see smudges etc. And I use one of those quick-mop things with a throwaway wipe on it.
Partner can clean the windows weekly if they wish. So long as they're not using it as an excuse to not do something else.
Pentax25@reddit
Once a year, maybe twice. It does make a difference but weekly is mental
Polz34@reddit
I'm a ground floor flat (basically the ground floor of an old terraced house) so I do the inside and outside once a month generally, probably less in the winter as it's darker and I can't see the marks!
keepthebear@reddit
Every week? No, oh no I feel really dirty, I do them twice a year! Like at the beginning of spring when the sun gets bright and you can see how filthy they are, and then at the begining of autumn for the same reason. Should I be doing them more often? (Not weekly though, no time for that!)
DiDiPLF@reddit
Same as you, when ever the sun shining shows up how manky they are, plus dog nose prints and toothpaste splatters get a wipe but rarely a polish most weeks. Also before and after Halloween or christmas window stickers are put up.
CriticalCentimeter@reddit
once a year, twice on leap years
LimesFruit@reddit
literally never. I've lived in this place for a year, the windows look fine.
Miss-Hell@reddit
Tell him he is more than welcome to clean them every week.
You'll have the cleanest inside windows on the whole street!
CGreen189@reddit
Twice a year.
Trixxiey@reddit
2 x a year.
TulipTattsyrup99@reddit
Whenever there’s a blue moon
Rexel450@reddit
When thy look dirty.
Ryledra@reddit
Nah, this is when you have an excuse not to drive into work because of “fog” XD
Vequihellin@reddit
^This. Usually once or twice a year at most. Usually around Xmas when the window Lights highlight the pawprints and fur grease stains where the cats like to lay on the windowsills, and summer when they're open all the time.
cheesecake_413@reddit
My cats seem to wait for me to clean the windows so they can rub their paws in litter dust and make fresh pawprints all over the windows
m00shie1990@reddit
Story of my life haha 🤣🤣
BobKickflip@reddit
"looks like you accidentally took all that stuff off the windows again, we'll help you put it back! ... I mean... meow..."
Draigdwi@reddit
That’s finger art!
Ambitious_Zombie7698@reddit
When you catch a glance of sunshine that hits it once just before you are having people over to then never hit the windows there for the rest of the year
TheDevilsButtNuggets@reddit
I only notice the inside dirt the day after the window cleaner has been.
cosmicspaceowl@reddit
I'd like to agree with this but the real answer is at least a couple of weeks after I first notice them looking dirty, and after several more observations and thinking I really should clean those windows.
Rexel450@reddit
:)
BeccaaCat@reddit
Exactly this. When I look out and go "AHH!"
Prosecco1234@reddit
A couple of times a year when the sun shining tells me I need to get it done
Icy_Knowledge5004@reddit
Been in my house for 3 year and done them maybe 4 times. Not all of them.. but some of them 🤫
sabretoothian@reddit
Wait, people clean their windows? I just thought it was permanently overcast.
ams3000@reddit
Every fortnight.
kernowgringo@reddit
When I notice how bloody disgusting they are from 3 kids smudging their faces and fingers up against them
Randomfinn@reddit
I never cleaned windows in any of my houses (well in my memory, maybe I did and just done remember?). But when I put my current house up for sale the very old school EA gave me a bunch of deep cleaning jobs to do including cleaning all the windows inside and out. All 46 of them. I hired a window cleaner who spent 8 hours and showed me how the windows were able to tilt in (so the exterior panes were easy to clean with the exception of a few transom windows). I was so amazed at the transformation that I had him back a few months later and I have been keeping it up myself with the right tools (I saw him use).
I have been converted.
windy_beachy@reddit
As long as your partner is willing to do that weekly clean, no problem. That being said, I do my windows & walls every 3 months.
Buh_Snarf@reddit
Every four weeks as that's when the window cleaner comes and no point having lovely clean windows outside with smudges on the inside.
Ploughman_Lunch_stat@reddit
About twice a year for most (spring and Autumn) as they are secondary glazed and the outers are Georgian style steel framed making it an exceptionally complex procedure.
mas-sive@reddit
Next summer, which I have said for the past 4 years
avalanchefan95@reddit
Ummm I'm gonna say the front window gets cleaned about every other month. The rest of the windows? Never, really
External_Ease_8292@reddit
Usually around the holidays
Professional_Sir1821@reddit
When I think they need it. Typically every few months. We pay to have the outside done every couple of weeks.
shortercrust@reddit
Lived here for 9 years and done them twice
GlamourousFireworks@reddit
When my dogs have licked them too much they’re no longer see through
TedBurns-3@reddit
Wait, what? The insides need cleaning?!!
Mental_Body_5496@reddit
If he wants to fo it every week thats great. If he doesnt then its however often you can be arsed - in spring usually for me - once !
Delicious_Link6703@reddit
Every 6 months.
Beginning of summer when the sun starts to show up the dirt, fingerprints and flyblow.
Just before Christmas because everyone in our street decorate windows with lights, again showing up the dirt etc.
GreyScope@reddit
All the time as my dirty bastard of a cat keeps wiping her bloody nose along every window in the house
trainpk85@reddit
We have a very tidy house. Like to the point where people comment on it. Cream carpets, the lot. We have lived here for 18 months and never cleaned the inside of the windows.
lysergic13@reddit
When I moved in and when I move out
envious_coward@reddit
Every week? Bahahaha. People are wild.
CurvePuzzleheaded361@reddit
I do mine every week. Isnt that wild to me to want clean windows
iWasDISSOCIATING@reddit
What kind of abuse are your windows suffering?
lilangel437@reddit
Me too!
Jonoabbo@reddit
Sure I agree it's normal to want clean windows, I just don't see how the interior side of your windows are becoming unclean on a weekly basis
toocoolperson@reddit
If your windows are big/low enough kids handprints and dogs/cats breathing, sneezing, and doing whatever else leaves marks they can look rough quick!
KeyGlum6538@reddit
This is definetely a sign of a disorder imo.
disasterly213@reddit
Not normal
Lopsided-Camel1114@reddit
Bi weekly unless the cats been window licking-?
Scrounger888@reddit
If he's been window picking, does that mean you do it more often, or less?
Lopsided-Camel1114@reddit
Always more.
BandRepresentative75@reddit
Every week is crazy talk. I think mine get done once, maybe twice a year! Inside and out.
EUskeptik@reddit
Oh, at least twice a year. 🤔
-@@-
OkayYeahSureLetsGo@reddit
Weekly, but appear to be in the minority! They're washed outside every other month, would like more often but hard to find a decent window cleaner here and they can't reach my upper back windows so I'm having to be creative! The outside window cleaners are very common, many do it fortnightly. I do live in a small UK city so they gather dust from traffic out front and eventually fireplaces/etc.
presterjohn7171@reddit
Once in a blue moon. Every now and then the kitchen window by the sink does as splash back marks build up etc. I do clean the frames though when dust builds up over long periods of time.
DevilsAdvocate1662@reddit
Wait, you're supposed to clean the inside? Well shit, our window guy has only ever done the outside, I'm gonna have to have a word with him about the half arsed job he's been doing all these years
Mudeford_minis@reddit
What is this cleaning of which you speak?
DustInTheMachine@reddit
As a cleaner I probably do my clients homes (those who allow time to clean the windows) every 3-4 weeks, unless obviously dirty and then they get done weekly (toddler handprints, dog snot etc 😂)
My own windows get done when I can be bothered, which is probably autumn time and then spring clean time. Again, unless obviously dirty and they get cleaned as needed.
Wild_Region_7853@reddit
I moved in 4.5 years ago so I’m gonna go with every 5 years
iElvendork@reddit
Maybe once a year?
Although that reminds me, I need to clean my front bedroom window as my mum's dogs slobbered on them this past weekend! (Along with everything else that needs cleaning in that room as we are decorating it 😄)
User-1967@reddit
Monthly
ThisTooShallPass67@reddit
I’ve got two baby grandsons and they love nothing more than licking my windows and glass doors. At least one window gets cleaned every single weekend.
Beach__comber@reddit
Monthly when the cleaner does it
Professional_Pea2937@reddit
Thats what the condensation is for
Particular_Meeting57@reddit
Once every 5 years if they are lucky.
NightNo6821@reddit
The bottom half the cats can reach with their noses gets done weekly. The entire window was probably done in February and I might do it again next February.
ShineAtom@reddit
If my living room window (the one that opens) gets cleaned once a year that is a small miracle. The rest? I don't think I've cleaned them inside for years. Let's not talk about outside. I don't have a window cleaner of any description. But I can see out very clearly. The rain helps.
Scrounger888@reddit
Whenever they get noticeably dirty. Maybe once a year? Upstairs outside windows, never.
SomeHSomeE@reddit
I've lived in my place for 4 years and never cleaned them
GritstoneGrandma@reddit
Same but five...
discombobulatededed@reddit
Lmao I panicked reading once a week in OPs post. I’ve been in my house since December last year and I’ve never cleaned mine. Glad I’m not alone.
Charming-Objective14@reddit
Cleaned mine as soon as I'm moved into a new place and a bird flew into them
MasticatedBrain@reddit
This is the way.
Real-Strawberry-1395@reddit
About 3 times a year.
puzzlecrossing@reddit
Mainly, when the window cleaners been and done the outside, then all the marks show up. It’s my prompt to do the inside. Doesn’t always happen though.
Before I had kids I did them every week
Such-Quality3156@reddit
The bedroom French doors and same for front room everyday, the rest once every few weeks 🤷🏻♀️ don’t live on a road, doors because the dog likes to paw it to let me know, plus the sun shines right on it and the mirror on my wardrobe atleast once a week aswell
__sunmoonstars__@reddit
I noticed my windows had gotten dirty but I also noticed they are old and draughty. So I’m just going to buy new windows.
Gullible_Wind_3777@reddit
Front room windows, not even joking, daily. BUT. It’s cause the children open the windows to let the cat outside and where they’re not quite tall enough to push it open with the handle, they touch the glass and the little two 9/10 have icky fingers 😂 always hand prints and smears. It does my head in!! lol
Other windows, probably once a month. The glass that is. Trim etc is cleaned/dusted each time I clean/dust. Every three days.
Bloody-smashing@reddit
When I feel like it's pointless to pay the window cleaner to clean the outside because the inside is so grubby
dunkingdigestive@reddit
3 or 4 times a year and I have a cleaning person.
hjsjsvfgiskla@reddit
When the sun shines and I am repulsed by my squalor.
It’s usually when I’m supposed to be doing a quick spruce up before visitors, aka, not a priority.
ProcedureGloomy6323@reddit
Wait... Do you guys clean your windows?
Purp1eMagpie@reddit
Very fucking rarely. Once a week is bat shit
ThroughThePeeHole@reddit
Once or twice a year, at most.
Woochanwoo@reddit
Nobody does them once a week! Why does your partner think that? Even my clean freakiest friends don't do them that often. Mine get done about twice a year.
putabird0n1t@reddit
When I was little, my dad would sit me and my sister up on the kitchen counter with a bowl of soapy water and a paintbrush and let us 'paint' the kitchen window with suds. We would sit for ages unknowingly cleaning the windows. I imagine since we're both adults now who don't live at home, the windows aren't nearly as clean as they used to be
WilkosJumper2@reddit
Every 3 months. Cleaning every window in a standard house or bigger each week is some job.
broken-runner-26@reddit
Every year, whether they need it or not.
koruppi@reddit
My flat away from home - never My home with 2 cats - also never, but id like to do it once a month

I did it last in 2009.
navs2002@reddit
I love that you know this.
AdventurousFrame332@reddit
We made a day of it
anti-sugar_dependant@reddit
Once or twice a year. In the spring/summer I use one of those magnetic gadgets to do both sides, and then maybe the insides only once in the winter.
jul1992@reddit
Constantly, but only because my kids touch them with their sticky little fingers all the time and the smudges drive me crazy
LivGiff@reddit
When I finally get around to it having been thoroughly annoyed by the smears I noticed months ago but couldn't be arsed to do anything about..
Frostygrl_@reddit
Every week 😆 ours are small and easily accessible though
sleepyxenomorph@reddit
Once a month, cats nose, fur, and paw marks trying to catch the outside flies and beasties.
Embarrassed_Park2212@reddit
Lived in my house for 20 years and didn't clean the old windows once. Council put new windows in in January not cleaned them yet either.
Nerdiburdi@reddit
Depends. Bathroom and kitchen one gets done every week because of soap scum or water from the sink. But others? When they’re dirty… which maybe once a year?
RedPlasticDog@reddit
Never. But the cleaning lady does them once a month I think
Giddyup_1998@reddit
Moved in 5 years ago, cleaned them last week. Am yet to clean the outsides.
nena_oveja@reddit
Like once in a while? Mainly when I notice the baby licking them and regret not doing it before 🤦♀️ deffo not once a week
GooseyDuckDuck@reddit
Usually every second week.
Connect-Package8178@reddit
Inside maybe every 2 or 3 months
Rough-Sprinkles2343@reddit
Moved in 3 years ago, cleaned it once. The next time will be when it’s dirty or moving house
Charming-Objective14@reddit
I have self cleaning windows because nobody cleans them
Elliephunk@reddit
I do them once a week, however this is because I love the smell of Windolene and my dog dribbles all over my windows, during her militant attempts to guard the house. If these weren’t issues I would just clean them when they looked grubby tbh.
lilangel437@reddit
Once a week! But I live in a 1 bed flat so don’t have a huge number of windows
deanorox@reddit
I have the upstairs external done once a quarter by someone. Downstairs external and all internal I do once a month maybe.
grimesey@reddit

Glowing102@reddit
Twice a year.
Paulstan67@reddit
Earlier today I spotted that they were getting a little grubby, so I've made a.mental note to get round to them sometime before the new year.
robjamez72@reddit
Window cleaner here. I do some more frequently depending what the customer wants, but 12 weeks is usually enough for inside and to notice the difference. It’s usually kids, dogs and flies that make a mess on the inside.
Remarkable_Owl_4391@reddit
Once every 2 or 3 months.
EuphoricGrapefruit32@reddit
This is making me feel so much better about only doing mine about twice a year.
No-Weather-3220@reddit
Not very often maybe upstairs 3 x a year and downstairs every couple of months
AquarianViolist@reddit
every 8 weeks - or approx - basically that’s when the window cleaner comes to do the outside and I use it as a prompt to do inside same day. In previous house it was probably once every 2 years on a whim! 😂
PastorParcel@reddit
Every year, maybe two.
Possibly three?
Ok, never.
Xenozip3371Alpha@reddit
Being generous... once a year maybe?
ExaminationBig6301@reddit
I clean from outside twice a year. Never from inside. why would you clean from inside? do you have pets or kids that constantly is licking them? then yeah I would clean every second day
Existing_Ad_5811@reddit
For times a year.
PKblaze@reddit
If they need it but very rarely otherwise.

You guys are cleaning the inside of your windows? 🤣
Sea_Pomegranate8229@reddit

At most 3-4 times annually . And that’s with low windows and a toddler with permanently sticky hands .
Powerful-Reason-6319@reddit
8 weeks when the window cleaner cleans the outside. Except the kitchen one because I can’t reach.
EdanE33@reddit
Maybe once a year, if I remember.
Southern-Orchid-1786@reddit
I think I've had mine replaced as many times as I've cleaned the inside of them in 15 years. Outside a few times a year.
sedgley80@reddit
Once a year whether they need it or not
WiccanPixxie@reddit
When they look a bit grubby, minimum of three times a year, which is when I change my ornaments on the windowsill.
NeitherBag4722@reddit

Mockingbird-59@reddit
Outside every 3 months, inside once a year. I walk my dog past a flat where the guy that is a chain smoker lives. His windows have a film of yellow brownish layer on them and when he has the lights on ( he never closes the curtains) I can’t even see inside. Actually he doesn’t have to close the curtains, there is enough nicotine on his windows. He’s been living there over 10 years so you can just imagine.
ConversationOver1391@reddit
Most weeks, cleaner does it
Dutch_Slim@reddit
Twice a year when I wash the curtains.
EuphoricGrapefruit32@reddit
A couple of yimes a year. They're 3m high, and I have to get on top of the ladder and it's shittifying. And bettrr things to do on days off.
messedup73@reddit
Every three months I do a deep clean of each room it takes me a week to do the house.I declutter do skirting boards, walls plus windows inside and out.I downsized to a two bedroom when my kids moved out and even though I suffer with arthritis everywhere I try to finally have a clean house clutter free.
MojoMomma76@reddit
About every two months or so or when they are looking actively manky. The inside of the French doors gets done once a week or so though as the dog’s method of letting me know she needs to pee is to hit it with a paw so it gets dirty more quickly
Remarkable-Win4635@reddit
Once a year when I also wash the net curtains.
iwantmorewhippets@reddit
I have 4 dogs and 2 kids, so when the nose and hand art makes them so dirty it's difficult to see out of them, so about once a month or so.
Accurate_Prune5743@reddit
Outside monthly by cleaner, inside 3-4 times a year. Obviously the window sills get dusted ever 1-2 weeks, and I'll then also give the panes a wipe.
Boring-Picture-1311@reddit
Close to never. Not since the new windows went in in 2019, I think.
TSC-99@reddit
A couple of times a year
fairenufff@reddit
In an all electric flat with no kids nor pets nor smokers nor gas appliances they only really need cleaning about twice a year. I tend do do them as a Spring clean just before easter and early December (before the Christmas and New Year festivities).
kt1982mt@reddit
When they look dirty, or once every season (so roughly four times a year). The outside of the windows are done at the same time as our windows can turn almost inside out for ease of cleaning.
Atoz_Bumble@reddit
Two or three times a year. Although the window behind the kitchen sink more often as that tends to get splashed when washing up.
gatoStephen@reddit
Never
oooohshinythingy@reddit
My mam used to clean them all monthly. I’ve always done them randomly until I started using a spray bottle with white vinegar in and kitchen roll or old white T-shirt, and did them whenever they looked smeared. Then I got cats. They’re always putting paw prints or wet mode smears all over them. Pointless keep doing them so I’ve gone back to doing them randomly again
FlutterGrrrl@reddit
Been here 13 years. Cleaned them all within an inch of their life when we moved in cos they were so gross. Then I would say every window has been cleaned sporadically when they look shit (cat nose/paw smears) or we've decorated, bought new curtains, fitted privacy/uv films... definitely less than once a year in most cases. Window cleaner does the outside once a month.
Hate_Feight@reddit
Once a year, twice a year, depends how dirty they get, what the pollution is like for you etc.
Exotic_Zebra8438@reddit
Every week by our cleaner. Including the window sill and skirting boards. I simply don’t have time for it with 2 kids under 3. I used to do them x2 a month before we had children.
R0gu3tr4d3r@reddit
Once a month, same day as the window cleaner does the outside

BlaEm@reddit
Well I've been living here for 5 years, so less often than that.
jakedorset@reddit
I vape - so they get funky occasionally, when I notice I clean them. Maybe every two to three months in the kitchen, living room, and the doors. Once or twice a year in the other rooms; when I notice they look dirty, or if a guest stays.
thorny_business@reddit
Wait what?
jmk88888@reddit
When they look like they need doing
Infamous-Ordinary-39@reddit
When my 5yo has smeared particularly greasy fingers across them. Maybe twice a year otherwise.
zbornakingthestone@reddit
Every week. But I have a slobbery dog and a cat that likes to leave marks everywhere.
daheff_irl@reddit
Every spring time when the sun starts shining and you can see the dust on them again
Own_Organization_155@reddit
Once a week if I have time, but minimum once a month and will do the inside again if outside have been done but the inside hasn’t been done for a hot minute
BorderlineWire@reddit
At random intervals when I look at them and think oh..that needs a bit of a wash. Front window most frequently, it’s where the cat likes to sit and put his little paws, nose and drool.
cactusdan94@reddit
Roughly every 2 hours. Im knackered today as it was my turn to do the night cleans whilst the Mrs slept.
emotional-empath@reddit
We cleaned them when we moved in and recently for the 3rd time. It's been 12 months.
Every week? Nah, I've got other things I prioritise, like sitting down.
PickaxeJunky@reddit
Yeah, we've been in our place 5 and a half years and we're yet to clean the inside of windows.
CurvePuzzleheaded361@reddit
That is wild
PickaxeJunky@reddit
I can still see out of them fine!
crankycow80@reddit
My sitting down priority means that I've cleaned mine 3 times.........in 12 years 😂. At this point, I'm honestly not sure why I bother paying someone to do the outside every 6 weeks
Ok_Cow_3431@reddit
Despite prioritising sitting down it seems you clean them far more than other people in here
jlelvidge@reddit
I wash them when the window cleaner has been so around every 8 weeks. I use water from the condenser dryer drawer as it does not streak and a squigee
Tabby_Tibs@reddit
Once a month on average.
lalalauren_3589@reddit
I clean my windows inside whenever I clean the room that they’re in, so probably once a week
doegrey@reddit
We’ve got pets that out their noses up to the glass to spy on the neighbours so my glass gets pretty grotty.
They get washed when it becomes noticeable. Maybe get washed every 3-6 months. But not all, just the ones that need it when it’s visible.
And they don’t nosy on all windows. Those other windows get washed if motivation strikes when doing the others.
(Outside have a window cleaner).

I live in an old house with bad ventilation so from time to time I get mould spots on the windows. They get cleaned if I spot mould and that’s it. Maybe every six months or so
halen2024@reddit
4 times a year if they’re lucky
Andries89@reddit
Every season on the outside and inside
Ok_Help516@reddit
I don't remember the last time I cleaned my windows maybe during covid when I was board and had nothing to do
myblackandwhitecat@reddit
Once a year.
Creepy-Bandicoot-866@reddit
I mean, if your partner wants to clean the windows once a week they can crack on, right?
I’ve been in my current house 2 years. I think I cleaned the windows shortly after I moved in.
shinydoctor@reddit
I've lived in my current house for 10 years, I think I last cleaned the inside of my windows around 13 years ago.
simmyawardwinner@reddit
once every season!
PaulaDeen21@reddit
Every week?
Maybe every decade.
CurvePuzzleheaded361@reddit
I do mine weekly, couldnt imagine having ten years of dirt on the glass that allows light into my home
PaulaDeen21@reddit
Mine are perfectly clean, no film or any dirt. I do the outside a couple of times a year.
MissKatbow@reddit
My husband does it semi regularly and they look worse every time. At least before the dirt is evenly spread, afterwards they are a streaky drippy mess.
socksdadsandsleaze@reddit
Less than once every two years.
gemmajenkins2890@reddit
I have a window cleaner for outside every 4 weeks-ish. I don’t think he comes over the winter months tho.
Inside get cleaned every few weeks or couple months. But it’s literally just a wipe down with a damp cloth then I dry them to prevent smearing.
Nothing goes in our windows to make them dirty in the first place. Literally every time I’ve cleaned them it’s just been a bit of dust or something. Oh and maybe the odd spider(and web) or insect of some sort.
Workinginberlin@reddit
I can still see outside. Why bother?
Active-Task-6970@reddit
Maybe once a year?
VanderBrit@reddit
When I can’t see out anymore
thiagogaith@reddit
I have kids and massive glass windows that get hit by the sun... They look disgusting quickly.
I clean the glass 3 or 4 times a year.
I clean the rails with a vacuum every week.
I clean the pvc frames and rails with products and cloth by hand every 4 years or so.
admiral_vals@reddit
Moved in this flat 3 years ago and since then haven't cleaned windows. Need to do it soon.

Prestigious_Fun2433@reddit
I live in a flat near a scrapyard and the windows get dirty quickly so I usually clean them every month at least. I also have a Kärcher so it doesn't take long.
When I lived with my parents, we had a conservatory and I liked the windows to be clean so whenever there was a mark or fingerprint, it would get done, possibly every 3 months.
Heliocopris@reddit
I've never washed my windows inside or out in the 11 years I've lived in the house...
Exact_Setting9562@reddit
Whenever you think it's foggy out but it isn't really.
Basic-Pangolin553@reddit
I dont touch the windows so the only dirt on them is from whatever is in the air, so like once a year or every other year.
park-zoe@reddit
When I feel like it...there's cleaning and then there's STRESS cleaning which is when I do the windows
UsernameRemorse@reddit
Never cleaned my windows
Squeak_Stormborn@reddit
The window cleaner comes every 8 weeksish, so I do the inside then too.
emj90@reddit
My other half likes to do it quite frequently. Me on the other hand ain't got time to even consider if they are dirty or not.
DescriptionFuture851@reddit
As a window fitter, I can 100% confirm that most people don't clean them.
Spiritual_Weather656@reddit
I don't think anyone does except me and I only do it once a year.
H2O78@reddit
When I can't see it of them
Reactance15@reddit
I've just cleaned the inside of the windows and the hinge parts and re-oiled them this week when installing new seals. The glass gets cleaned whenever it looks dirty.
sean_off@reddit
When we clean I spray and clean the windows at the same time. we generally don’t leave it longer than two weeks between cleaning a room. I do vacuum every few days, as we have wooden flooring.
RachelPenelope@reddit
We’re cleaning the inside of our windows?
HappyChemist9481@reddit
The what now ? 😂 maybe one of the downstairs windows once a year at Christmas if I can be arsed.
Petrosinella94@reddit
Once a month unless dirty. I like clean windows.
rising_then_falling@reddit
About once per year, along with the outsides.
BDavis197r@reddit
Outside every 8 weeks by the window cleaner, inside I do once every 6 months (mainly because I love using my Karcher window vac 😁)
justanoldwoman@reddit
Once a week, and the ones that the dogs decorate with "nose art" daily.
callmeepee@reddit
Every week, you fuckin monster.
ddmf@reddit
I've consistently meant to and then forgotten to clean most of the windows since I moved back in around Feb 2024.
perpetualmentalist@reddit
In my 12th floor flat every week. My partners house every few weeks to a month lol.
Pollution is the reason. If you live further out the city it's probably better.
Mikon_Youji@reddit
Maybe our day if I can't see out if them anymore because they're so dirty. That or when we move.
WoodenEggplant4624@reddit
About once a year, or less than, when they look like they need it. That says d I didn't nt look hard. Once a week is the insane, is he trying to find work for you?
Pure-Kaleidoscope207@reddit
Every week or two.
We live in a rural area and the outside gets covered in dust from the fields so do the inside at the same time.
k987654321@reddit

mycatiscalledFrodo@reddit

LegInternational8469@reddit
Every week at least because I have cats
MattHatter1337@reddit

theresabearonmychair@reddit
Once every couple of months probably
HAZZ3R1@reddit
Windows? Almost never.
Bifold doors need doing regularly as they make the dirt so obvious.
Gullible_fool_99@reddit
We've been in our house for four years - we've never cleaned the windows.
BroodLord1962@reddit
I think most people do them once a month at most, but more likely a couple of times a year.
AnneKnightley@reddit
Never unless they’re visibly dirty.
nightfire_83@reddit
Every couple of weeks. Ex window cleaner here, and can't stand dirty windows. It's surprising how manky they get inside
ejh1818@reddit
So if your partner thinks most people clean them every week, is he busy cleaning the inside of his windows every weekend? I do not think most people do that. It probably happens once a year in my house.
the-TARDIS-ran-away@reddit (OP)
No so we do it every 2-3 months but he was acting like we were shocking scumbags for it because "most people do it weekly" and I assured him they dont and said id prove it by asking reddit
Sustainable_Twat@reddit
I only clean them when I can’t see out of them anymore.
MillyMcMophead@reddit
Yep, this is the way forward.
MillyMcMophead@reddit
I had new windows installed nearly two years ago. I last cleaned them just afterwards but they could do with a clean again. I might get round to it one day.
Sea-Still5427@reddit
Once a year maybe.
PatserGrey@reddit
Usually when after I get a glance at then with the sun at a certain angle
willp2003@reddit
I’ll wipe the squashed flies off that I’ve splattered but that’s about it. The kitchen/patio doors get cleaned once or twice a year because the kids put their dirty hands all over them. Rest of the house, never.
ramapyjamadingdong@reddit
I have lived in my house 13 months and washed the insides of the windows for the first time 3 weeks ago.
LaraH39@reddit
Inside... Probably 4 times a year.
Outside, once a month by the window cleaner
thisisgettingdaft@reddit
When the sun shines on them and I think Oh, I should clean those. About 4/5 times a year. Upstairs, not so much but the double glazing has blown so I don't see the point. I do the sills more regularly, though.
_solemn_cat_@reddit
When I can see the cats paw prints on them on a regular basis.
For context, they climb out the living room window so paw prints are EVERYWHERE.
FenelSosige@reddit
Every week!
Ok_Monitor_7897@reddit
The window cleaner comes every six weeks or so and I do it as soon as I can after he's visited.
Delicious-Cut-7911@reddit
I will give them a wipe every few months.
Superb-Ad-8823@reddit
I am not allowed to clean our windows because it doesn't matter how I try they end up streaky. So my wife cleans them but never weekly as life is too short for boring jobs like that.
Poo_Poo_La_Foo@reddit
The window cleaner comes once every 3 months. I do the indoor ones usually after my sister's kids have been?!
I used to live in Eastern Europe though and they are very compulsive about their window cleaning. Never got to the bottom of why.
SeveralFishannotaGuy@reddit
Every few months when the cat’s noseprints get a bit too much.
Nine_Eye_Ron@reddit
Microfibres cloth
Mischeese@reddit
Twice a year if they are lucky??
cognitiveglitch@reddit
Once or twice a year.
A window vac makes it much easier than it used to be!
alancake@reddit
Every week?! More like a couple of times a year 😂
sensiblequine@reddit
Not done my in 2 yrs I have stayed here … I need to remove cat nose smudges
CreativeAdeptness477@reddit
So far I've been in my place just short of a decade. Haven't cleaned them yet.
Don't need to since I never open the curtains. 👍
Successful-Grade2443@reddit
Never ever
anonymouse39993@reddit
Once a month
Starlinkukbeta@reddit
The fluffer of change bloweth. What ?
megthebat49@reddit
I've lived in my place a year, never cleaned the windows. There is a window cleaner who comes round and does the outside once every month I think but I've never cleaned the insides
anabsentfriend@reddit
I last did mine towards the end of 2018.
MooMoo2319@reddit
We have to do our main window in the living room every other day - the cat sits on the window, and all you can see is smudge marks! It looks awful.
The other windows though...
Milvusmilvus@reddit
When they look dirty, every few months. More for the window the cats sit at and smoosh their faces on.
Arbdew@reddit
But that means you've destroyed their nose art! I had to do the same recently and now I've betrayed them I can only imagine what horrors they have in store for me.
Anonimoose15@reddit
Maybe once a year?
Bitter_Tradition_938@reddit
Weekly, but only since I got pets who leave marks and hair (cats who paw at the windows trying to catch the birds they see outside).
bluejackmovedagain@reddit
Mine get cleaned whenever I look at them and go "urgh the window's really dirty". For most of the windows in the house that's a few times a year, but for the cat's favourite bird watching window it's at least once a week.
Bitter_Tradition_938@reddit
I’m glad someone understands me!
Hampshire-UK@reddit
Every time the grandkids leave
GetCapeFly@reddit
I’d say I’m in the top 10% of clean freaks. I change my bedding weekly and pillows every two days etc. I clean the inside of my windows every 3 months (unless there’s marks then I’ll do it sooner).
princessxcore@reddit
Never 😂 a quick wipe down of the frame is all they get
LemmysCodPiece@reddit
Probably once a year.
Throwaway91847817@reddit
Not often. Only when they look dirty, which is very uncommon to be honest.
Lucky_Caterpillar_57@reddit
My kids have seasonal window stickers on the patio doors. When it’s time to change the stickers, I clean the patio doors and will do the rest of the house windows after. Once a week is madness.
SarNic88@reddit
Outside gets done once a month by the window cleaner, inside is when I notice it’s dirty, I try to do it once every couple of months though for a proper clean.
The only other time the inside gets done is when I notice dirty marks, like the cats wiping their noses on the window!
random_username_96@reddit
Couple times a year maybe? Spending time and energy doing that once a week is a colossal waste imo
anotherangryperson@reddit
Never, unless something is somehow spilled on them. I have tried once or twice in the past but they look a mess when I have finished.
Ok_Cow_3431@reddit
Ive done them twice and we've been here 8 years
However the double glazing was blown when we moved in so even if you clean them they still look gross. Getting new ones fitted this week so ask me again in a month or so.
Isgortio@reddit
Maybe a few times a year. The one in my bedroom gets cleaned more because it's how my cats go in/out so they'll leave all sorts on the window.
Outrageous_Shirt_737@reddit
When I’m putting stuff in the windows I.e, Xmas.
KatVanWall@reddit
I do them once or twice a year depending on how dirty they look. Most of the dirt is on the outside, though, not the inside!
alltorque1982@reddit
Clean the what ??
MintyMarlfox@reddit
The one the dog sticks his nose on to see into the garden when the doorbell goes gets done weekly.
The rest will get done when we sell.
Eyupmeduck1989@reddit
If your partner wants to clean them every week then they can do that. I do mine a few times a year whenever I notice they’re particularly dirty and can be bothered
IamFilthyCasual@reddit
I’ve lived in this flat for nearly 2 years and never cleaned them other than wiping the sill
Betty2445@reddit
Twice a year, when we change the curtains 🫢 We have Winter curtains and Summer ones, so we clean the windows when we take them down to wash. Absolutely hate cleaning windows and changing the curtains, but it has to be done!
mrthreebears@reddit
when the cat nose prints form a continuous line
arashi256@reddit
Only if they're visibly dirty - so maybe twice a year.
BreqsCousin@reddit
If my partner wanted to do that I'd not stop them but it would not go into their column on the "how much time have you spent doing things that need to be done" balance sheet.
I'm not doing it and I'm not picking up more of the actually necessary chores because they want to do it.
SoggyWotsits@reddit
Not that often before I bought a Karcher window vac, but it makes cleaning them I easy that I do them fairly often now!
LibraryOfFoxes@reddit
I've lived in this house about 17 years. I've cleaned the inside probably about five times. I might flick a duster about on them a few times now and again, but a proper clean with spray and a cloth? Rarely.
Neat_Border2709@reddit
Twice a year, patio door twice a week, kids can’t keep their hands off the glass 😒
PanicIsMyName@reddit
Once a quarter, unless the cats have booped the glass and I have guests coming round. But the guests have to be super important for me to get the window vac out.
Celery_Worried@reddit
It has yet to happen.
imnotabotimafreeman@reddit
once every couple of years I'll do both inside and out
No-Neighborhood2213@reddit
Outside done every 6-8 weeks by the window cleaner, inside 3-4 times a year
Missing-Caffeine@reddit
Same. My toddler keeps smearing thing on the window now, so I just wipe those parts when needed as well.
jptoc@reddit
I probably do every week but my dog really enjoys looking out of multiple windows in the house and getting his nose prints all over them.
intheclouds@reddit
Once a month, when the window cleaner has cleaned the outsides
Belle_TainSummer@reddit
Every April once the sun is high enough in the sky not to shine straight through the window into my eyes for the three hours it is out each day. Then I'll clean the window. During the winter, that is my sunshade.
BillyJoeDubuluw@reddit
We clean some parts of the house every day but the windows are cleaned once a week.
Mdl8922@reddit
Every month or so.
peobarionboy@reddit
I have been in my flat for over two years and have never cleaned my bathroom, bedroom or sitting room windows, they don't need it, although I need to get the paint off the sitting room windows.
I clean my kitchen windows only a few weeks ago because I bought myself a couple sticky on bird feeders, so wanted a clean slate for them.
snakeoildriller@reddit
Frequently and randomly - a combination of dog breath, and dog nose art mean that if we want to properly look out of the window it needs to be cleaned off...
Richard__Papen@reddit
Only if they get really dirty. In other words, every few years.
Outside (downstairs) - maybe once a year.
Outside (upstairs) - never.
Dethark@reddit
4 or 5 times a year.
Safjrr@reddit
Your partner probably enjoys it lmao but I only do it every 2-3 weeks
ShockingHair63@reddit
I tend to go by eye when I can see the dirt when it comes to windows. I’d be surprised if most pole do it once a week. They’re vertical so dust doesn’t settle on them and they don’t get touched often, so they don’t get that dirty!
