My mom would have killed me. But, I discovered doing it in college and still occasionally have a spoonful of peanut butter.

I am that person who wears them with shorts at work. I don't care if it looks silly, they help a lot. I do have some with fun patterns though.

My mother is a planner, I am not. I picked a couple of things that were important to me and then let her run with it. It was an epic 3 day party. My hair was bigger than it had ever been before and my husband was totally rocking his mullet. We are still together, and people are still talking about the party.

American cheese on a Ritz cracker sprinkled with a tiny bit of paprika and microwaved until the cheese was a bit bubbly. Honesty I hadn't thought about it in years, but I may have to make some this weekend. It had to be land-o-lakes yellow American from the deli, not the weird cheese in the plastic.

Middle school music teacher. Would occasionally throw his baton at people. And if he was really mad about something, one of those heavy black metal music stands.

My dad was handy. (Still is, but a lot slower now). We were always allowed, and encouraged, to help in his workshop. If he was doing projects in the yard, I was often his "go-for". As a girl in the 80's I learned a lot more about how to use tools and make and fix things than any of my friends did. Has really come in handy my whole adult life.

Dad had a TIA when he was at church and my mom was at home. Luckily he was around people who recognized something was wrong. He doesn't remember that day, he remembers waking up in the hospital. That week the whole family installed life360 on our phones.

Another thread made me think of this, but it would get lost there, so here I go.

How many of you are ‘tech support’ for your aging parents? I’m very lucky I still have them around but their inability to navigate today’s world can be maddening.

Posted by Shaneblaster@reddit | GenX | View on Reddit | 489 comments

tg1024@reddit

My parents, who are in their 80's, were early adopters of tech. But, we have had to help out on occasion. Most recently, mom clicked on a link that she shouldn't have, but realized it immediately and stopped working on the computer. Dad looked at it, realized he wasn't sure what to do and called my husband. Took my husband a little while to figure it out and fix it. My brother just got them a ring doorbell, but my husband gets to install it!

I would drink very little at school because I didn't want to have to use the bathrooms. They always had girls smoking who would be pissed when someone they weren't expecting walked in and startled them into flushing their cigarettes. I did drink more in the evenings and weekends.

What "gone too soon" musician did you get to see in person before they were gone? Any that you regret missing?

When did y'all start getting gray hair?

Around 12 or 13. It's genetic on both sides of the family. I embraced it and never dyed it. At 53 I am now rocking lavender. Super easy, I just do it with the purple shampoo.

Well, at 55, it finally happened.

I started going grey at 13. People have been giving me senior discounts for years! I never ask, but I don't say anything if they just do it. First time it happened I was confused, but now I just go with it.
