Do you pronounce it "ex-ennial" or "zennial"? Or something else?

I see. It's funny as my eldest was b. 09/2001, and my next kiddo as well as the rest of the cousins in that gen are 2005 or later Eldest has so much more childhood experiences in common with those in my generation of cousins who were b. ~93-96 than her own sibs and her gen of cousins. Like she was Dora and Oobi and Otter family and Little Einsteins and higglytown heroes; the rest are all yo gabba gabba and Cars (dvd) and wonder pets. Like pop culture wise, things that were created post 9/11 were quite different, tho the lifespan of the things launched before 9/11 did exceed the moment.

:face palm: X-files and Degeneration X are /eks/ because it's a stand alone letter. Same for DMX Extreme, phonetically /eks-treme/ gives X-games and Xteme the /eks/, ditto for Excite Chicago (and Boston) are Socks (Sox) Xennial is a word, or it would be X-nial. It's modeled after Bennifer -- Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez

Xena Warrior Princess set the precedent as /zen-knee-al/ -- if you don't agree, you didn't actually live thru the appropriate culture of the 90s If the X-ers get pedantic about the "X", well, they can bang on like a Boomer in the genX sub \#sorryNotSorry

How many Xennials truly have done no retirement planning, have no target retirement date, or have considerably less than you need to retire in your 60s?"

Had savings. '08-'10 mortgage crisis/economy crash happened, wiped me out. It's okay, I'm in my (late) 20s, can rebuild. Rebuild. Use some savings to do IVF, then the pandemic happens. And it kept going. Start to rebuild, again. Now have a job in tech. -- poof -- Wiped out. Now working a job for half the pay, but it has a pension. After paying into the pension, not enough to save in a 401k or whatever other plan I qualify for on my own. I might clear 2k a month in pension if my salary stays flat between now and 2046, when I turn 65. By then the IVF baby would be 25, and hopefully established in life? Yep. Legit never fully retiring, just slowing down.

CDL and trucking are having their own squeezes. Know several who left being Owner-Operators (contractors) bc margins were not high enough, and getting worse with energy & oil surging They each pivoted to things that need a CDL but are employees--sanitation, mass transit buses, etc

In 1999 (I was freshly 18) my 7th grade sis was obsessed with Stabbing Westward. Dialed in with the intent of winning the tickets for her, she was going through a real tough time. I won! I don't remember the concert; I remember watching her watch the concert.

14ish years ago I was loaned a car that had no working radio/tape deck. A few months into this, "Car Radio" (21 Pilots) hit the airwaves. I felt SO seen. Sorta scared the F outta me, ngl Another few months of this, and it broke me of the *need* for music in the car.
