I haven't flown short haul in a long time. Furthest I've been was either Villamoura in Portugal or Albania. Both were multi day trips each way with trains, busses and ferries involved. Easy trips are to France, Germany, Netherlands, even Italy only needs one change in Paris You can get to most places in Europe with only one or two changes.

I would stay somewhere near an Elizabeth line station so that you can go direct from Heathrow. Ultimately it doesn't really matter as London is really well connected

Is it quite common for UK hotels to have no concierge/on demand housekeeping services or room service in Hotels or is this new?

Posted by Mediocre_Address_700@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 24 comments

one_pump_chimp@reddit

It would be very uncommon to have someone carry your bags, only the fanciest of places will do this. Same with a concierge, maybe a fancy 5 star in London. In general we wipe our own arses. Housekeeping will come and tidy the room once a day Room service is common in full service hotels, also common is getting something in the bar/restaurant

What’s the experience like watching SLB games in the UK?

I went to watch London at the Copper Box when they played Euro Cup games. The crowds were big and raucous Leicester and London get the biggest crowds but only in the low thousands. The games are fun but the quality isn't amazing, the league MVP was Aaryn Rai who was a 4 year player at Dartmouth and his best standard was the Canadian League with Niagara. For big crowds and good quality play try the Spanish and German leagues, they play in reasonable sizes arenas and get big crowds Pretty much all of the teams in Euro League are high quality with many future and ex-NBAers on the court

How do I get into scouting/talent identification roles for football in the UK?

I used to do some scouting and I got the gig because I was friends with the chairman of the club. Another friend of mine does scouting for a League 1 club and again it was via contacts. He scouts local youth leagues for the club and is basically a volunteer getting paid travel expenses.

National Anthems didn't exist until the 1800s. Unsurprisingly the first was in America. As people became ever more nationalistic more and more countries adopted them.

Train travel from London to Copenhagen with a toddler l, is it worth it?

Posted by appleplus_2845@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 31 comments

one_pump_chimp@reddit

I've done it. Standard route is London-Bruasels-Cologne-Hamburg-Copenhagen. It's going to take most of two days to do it. Personally I would go to Cologne on Day 1, stay overnight and then on to Denmark on Day 2. You could also head for Hamburg on Day 1 and make a shorter trip Day 2. Only tight connection is in Brussels which is 20 minutes. It's easy and I make it every time but I don't have to wrangle a toddler.

An anytime single walk up fare is £179 between London and Liverpool. Very few people not being reimbursed by work would pay this Cheapest undiscounted ticket is an advance single for £25.
