Do you fellow brits think that the new BT advert is bloody brilliant?

IF I still watched TV, which I don't. AND didn't used to swap the channel or leave the room during ad breaks, which I did. THEN I'd appreciate that for 90 seconds (90 WHOLE SECONDS!? For a B.T. Ad?) there was no horrible songs or gaudy colours trying to grasp my attention like a toddler reaching for a live wire. I am uninterested in the content. I appreciate that it is not distracting and gets in the way of worse adverts.

There is a difference between can't see the houses from their house and not affected, though. Schools, Drs, etc. Plus traffic. Near me there are several large estates that have been built in my lifetime, they use the same school I went to, there is 1 new doctors surgery. I have no issues getting an appointment when I need one, and I don't have kids, so moot point for me. BUT, the estates all have 1, maybe 2 entrances. This means that the traffic must use the existing local roads AND they, all use cut throughs and clog up the main streets without their own streets becoming rat runs as there is no through route. Fine, fair enough most of the time. Until there's roadworks, an accident or similar. All of that extra traffic now just completely jams up a square mile of roads with absolutely 0 wiggle room for locals to get out of the way with a back route.

Sort of Was concerned. Called 101? 111? Told them who I was (direct neighbour), asked if they had family deets, asked about a welfare check. Got a call back saying he was safe but in hospital and thats all they could tell me. He passed a few months later, new owners are still renovating. It's much louder than the single 90 year old guy. But is that not then a massive waste of everyone's time? I am reasonably outspoken on the issue, personally. I would always have nullification in the back of my mind. At what point do I mention that? I'm not going to ignore piles of evidence, but I cannot also in good conscience convict for something that is either victimless, or entirely *morally* justifiable, if not legally.

>wind and solar are intermittent Yes. But it's typically doing *one* of them. Still and grey days are rare, and would still generate with both forms. And those days you rely on the storage you've also built. What we should be doing is having such an incredible abundance of energy on days like today, with bright sun and lots of wind, that we can just waste the spare power on literally nothing. Just.... dump it into the sea or something. Like have a big pond of untreated sea water that we just periodically, when energy is too abundant and our steaks too juicy, make into the worlds largest cup of tea. Maybe install something viewed as obscenely wasteful in any system that is NOT post-energy-scarcity. Have banks of IR heaters on the outside of shops to tempt in customers. Or AC everywhere. Or supply our industry with cheaper fuel than China. Or Hydrogen production via desalination. I'm a big nuclear guy. And I fully support dumping boatloads of cash into modern fission plants as well as R&D on fusion. But right now, we could actually probably solve\* our issues\*\* without it. \*Come close to. \*\*One of them.

Plastering, decorating. They will always be needed. Their day rates are similar to ours. They dont need 2 grand in testing gear, they need 20 quid in a nice brush or trowel. They will never have training courses update based on the whims of the IET. My advice, side movement within IT. Data science or security and similar appears to be the current winners.

Late trained electrical apprentice, started at 28, qualified at 32. Don't do it. The grass isn't greener. Our trade is suffering under paperwork and "6 week wonders." You will NOT gain the experience required to perform safe, quality work. Put the effort in to get an actual apprenticeship. They're rare, but they do exist. But I would point out that we are not the best paid trade, as well as having huge payouts in ongoing meter calibration costs, regs updates, higher insurance, CPS schemes. It can be a good gig, but know what you're getting into. And online courses are not the way in.

Jazzy personal bits on them without being 'too much' to wear casually. The £100 budget is tight for selvedge/raw/unsanforised so do be aware of budget creep if that route is one you want to explore. Also, far more expensive, but free repairs for life: Hiut, made in wales. Younger brother has a pair and they're excellent.

It's not *difficult* as an absolute term. It's simply *harder.* It used to be easier, and now it's worse. It solves an issue that could have been solved in any number of ways, but the decision was made to make the users life worse. My question: Did you have issues with losing the cap before hand? Didn't think so. It's an environmental issue, apparently, of recycling the cap. Surely people just pop the cap back on so that the last contents dribbles don't end up on your hand, and maintain the lower pressure in the bottle once it's squeezed to reduce volume inside a bin? Or were you actually a lose it or feed it to a swan kinda guy? It was previously a non-issue. And now, for some of us, it's an issue.
