Are we not allowed to vent about Boomers on here?

I mean it’s well documented that they have ruined the economy. This is nothing more than the same old take of “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” that boomers love to say.

I am an intensely private person and I am strongly considering running for local office on an anti-AI platform.

Saw him in 1990 for the Sound and Vision tour. To this day, the best concert I have ever been to. His set list was amazing. Had a lot of the older hits.

1982, seeing this weird band play the local county fair. That band? Violent Femmes. My 12 year old brain couldn't comprehend. Seeing Nirvana multiple times at small shows with 100 or less people from 89 to 91. Seeing real time ticker tape news updates and war coverage of the first gulf war. This totally changed the way news was reported from there on out.

I played the grooves out of this album when I was in 6th or 7th grade. Anyone else out there had this epic masterpiece of pop culture?

In my town where I grew up our arcade was right next to the record store. Of course I bought it. I also owned the pac man shirt that the arcade sold.

This has to be AI or written by someone who wasn't there. Probably rage bait. Challenge accepted. This list enraged me.

Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s

My great grandmother. Born late 1800’s. Whenever she came to visit I would basically hide as she looked like death warmed over at 94 years old. Think the old man in Poltergeist. It freaked me out so bad. I was only around 5 years old so I didn’t know any better.

14 for a Great Dane is insane. Their life expectancy is usually 8 to 10 years. I am with you on this. I had to put down my 16 year old chi in October. I’m still devastated. I did a trial adoption a couple months ago and it just made me miss her even more.. if that was possible.

It can take a year or longer to find a job depending on what you do.. taking 6 months off could be catastrophic in this economy. I know, I took a year off in 2024 at 54. It took me almost two years to find a job worthwhile.

The culprit for me was salt. Once I started watching sodium levels my bp dropped significantly. It’s crazy how much sodium is in pretty much anything that is a convenience. Canned soup? Fuck no. Even the “low sodium” options are still crazy high. Bottom line is if you want to be healthy you are going to need cook using whole foods. Using anything in a packet or bottled sauces are out as well.

It kinda amazes me that this isn’t talked about as much when questions like this are asked. Even as a straight male that was just becoming sexually active in the late 80’s and early 90’s, this always frightened my friends and I. I mean we still had sex and some of us weren’t as careful as we could have been but getting an AID’s test was a total nightmare. You had to wait weeks for the results. I lost two friends to that disease and almost lost a father in law. Granted it was really pushed as “just a gay disease” in the late 80s.. But the fact that my friends and I had multiple partners during our late teens and early 20s, we really did dodge a bullet.

The concept of an album is pretty much dead. What you have now are TikTok and Instagram bands that write 30 second hooks and create a quirky video to match it. It’s not about record contracts. It’s about views. Lots of younger artists are following this stupid trend. It’s not creative or at least it doesn’t come from a place of sincerity. All that said there are artists that try to break the mold and succeed. They are more often than not awarded poorly for it. The whole creative industry is operating like this. The music industry isn’t immune.

I remember most of my record purchases were a big risk.. I had to read reviews in zines or hope that the video I saw on 120 minutes was a good representation of what the album would sound like. Husker Du, Hugo Largo and The Replacements (Tim era) are the stand out bands that I bought records by without ever hearing them.. I’ve been a life long fan of these groups since then.

I gave up for a couple of reasons. One, dating women my age seems really concerned with my retirement. I’ve been asked about it before even meeting in person. It comes down to they either have theirs set and don’t want anyone leeching off them or they have zero retirement and hoping I have enough for both… The other thing I have encountered numerous times is that they don’t want anything serious. Basically a part time boyfriend every other weekend. They don’t want to cohabitate at all. Both of these things really made me throw in the towel after encountering them many different times.
