In my experience, there's a really loud group within the American Jewish community that complains about Biden not supporting Israel enough, and how he should have given them even more billions in arms than he already did. Not sure how large this group actually is but I know a few personally who refuse to vote for Kamala because she said called the Palestinians people.

Exactly. People complained that Kamala didn't talk enough about Israel as if she could say much without contradicting Biden and making the entire administration look weak. Now that she's running as her own candidate she can and has said whatever she wants.

They are not "mostly known" for inspiring just modern pop. The Beatles influenced a ton of different bands like Queen (uncomplicated?) and Ozzy Osbourne, who in turn influenced Metallica (modern pop?), My Chemical Romance, etc.

The Beatles never really showed off their complexities, but they weren't simple either. The average pop listener can enjoy them but especially the later stuff got pretty intricate. I don't know a lot of Oasis songs but I'd venture to say the same for them too- Wonderwall gets ridiculed as a beginner guitar song but has a fair few nuances that make it closer to an intermediate level.

Considering he's one of the biggest candidates to be our next president, it's hard to move on until he's actually stopped being relevant- when he loses and shuts up, gets incarcerated, gets hospitalized or dies. He's no longer just a washed up reality tv guy that we can safely ignore

As a society we're just over compensating for centuries of non-diversity hires. I predict that all the backlash right now against "woke Hollywood" will swing us back in that direction for a bit, and maybe back towards woke again before things even out and we can enjoy movies that are diverse because the acting pool is diverse. That being said, "that one dude from terminator 2 that was on screen for 15 minutes was black" isn't a glowing example of representation- how many starring roles in prominent movies in the 20th century were filled by black people? How does that compare to the number of white people in those roles?

It's because all the mainstream movies are on streaming services, so if you need the laptop at all you're already going off the beaten path. No one is torrenting Star Wars if they have Disney+, but you won't find Neil Breen on there.

1. Even if you have a dozen daughters that's not a lot of cigarettes, compared to what heavy smokers consume. 2. Scar tissue is permanent, and pulmonary fibrosis is irreversible once the damage is done. And plenty of cells, especially in your brain, don't regenerate. 3. Carcinogens damage the way cells replicate, so even when the cells do get replaced that's how tumors can start.

You've never run your fingers over the delicate polished mahogany curves of a table leg before, have you? In all seriousness you're correct- there are words that are masculine in some languages but feminine in others and that skews the native speakers' perceptions towards one gender or another. In English, we think of the man in the moon, but Spanish speakers would see things differently.

I'm going to assume you know nothing about politics or guns. While I should have just said all guns in my original comment, some people get offended by that. By assault weapon I was referring to assault rifles and such, which would have been made clear from context. Assault rifles are a specific type of gun that includes the AK-47. They're often used by military assault forces, which is presumably where they got the name. They tend to lack the accuracy of hunting rifles and are somewhat unwieldy for home defense. Adding to AR-15s being used in a lot of high profile massacres recently, people want them banned or restricted seeing as they don't have much use for a civilian.

Is the second amendment not a personal freedom? Is gay marriage not a personal freedom? Just because every party isn't anarchist doesn't somehow mean they're all fascist dictators.

bluedragon8633@reddit

'Personal freedom' is a really vague term that can be either good or bad, depending on context. Both parties recognize this. Every party agrees on allowing certain freedoms (speech, attorney, refusal to quarter soldiers in private homes), disagree on allowing certain others (abortion, gay marriage), and agree on forbidding others (murder). To say that "personal freedom is good" is as inane a statement as "air is good" or "people are good".

It's more that "we should slow down or stop climate change now because it indirectly deals with a lot of our other issues" which is a fairly groundbreaking concept when compared to the two parties in power. Even the dems mostly just see it as another issue that should be dealt with at some point
