i run this cpu stock since 2023 with a very low fan curve for noise reduction, and it idles on high 30s to low 40s, but when im gaming its never goes past 80c and thats in intense cpu heavy games like helldivers, and im using the same cooler, maybe you just got unlucky with the silicone.

How to avoid Coil-Whine on GPUS? Bought RM1000x & RM1000X Shift, both had coil-whine...

you cannot avoid coil whine, its just what happens when you lots of electricity flowing through metal parts, every pc has coil whine especially high wattage ones.

Is It Too Late to Buy an RTX 5090 Now?

Posted by pyrhonp@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 16 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

why would it be too late? 5090 would still be the 2nd best card lol, and if its any thing like the 5090 is to the 4090 it’s probably going to be even more diminished and power hungry

RTX 5080 4k or 2k

Posted by TULY8@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 48 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

4k is double the pixels of 1440p, so you’re getting half performance for better quality? but if the game looks like trash and runs terrible like most newer games it doesn’t really matter in my opinion

drivers are “unstable” on both sides, amd has drivers timing out, crashes, and instability meanwhile nvidia has blackscreens, performance issues, and crashing.

Trying to solve Coil Whine on 9070xt. A hopeless endeavor or clear foolish mistake ?

Posted by BrownMtnLites@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 5 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

Coil whine is completely normal, Every single gpu has coil whine to some degree, its just a normal result of the electricity flowing through the parts even a motherboard can coil whine but its not really anything to worry about.

Looking for the quietest RTX 5090 with least coil whine

Upgrading from 7700x to 9800x3d?

Posted by BlazedToddler420@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 6 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

literally nobody knows lol, just get the 9800x3d otherwise you’ll keep waiting for whatever newest thing is coming out, and at 1440p It will make not much of a difference unless you play cpu heavy game like space marine 2, helldivers 2, csgo, or tarkov.

Experiencing what I think is Coil Whine(?) In a PC I built in January 2025, Not even a year old yet.

Those ray tracing techs are still in their infancy, rasterization gaming is still very much preferred by a majority of the population lol, but I guess its up to op whether they prefer high refresh gaming or a “quality” experience.

Is a 5090 stupid at 1440p?

Posted by Outrageous_Guava3867@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 4 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

Yes you can push higher framerates, 4k is very overrated especially if you’re a multiplayer gamer, and most newer triple a games run like dogshit anyways and cannot even hit 120fps on 4k even on high end hardware unfortunately.

5090 vs 5080 and brand?

Posted by Heligrin@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 23 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

5090 and 5080 are both piss poor relative to their prices, but 5090 at least has some upgrade compared to its predecessor meanwhile the 5080 is just straight up dogshit value, id consider the 5090 just because its the best card you can get as of of this generation, but if i were you id stick with the 5070ti unless you’re really just unhappy with the performance for some reason.

5070 TI at $749 vs. 5080 at $1219 (63% price difference)

you don’t need a 300 dollar cooler for a 7700x 😂, you can get an air cooler and put more money down on a better cpu, more storage or even better gpu

Posted by TroddenOsprey@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 71 comments

7900 xtx was amd’s flagship card, aka their best card they’ve released so its a not surprise, but id say the 9070xt is good if you can score one for msrp

2100$ PNY 5090 Epic-X OC vs 2000$ 5090FE

Posted by My_Unbiased_Opinion@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 9 comments

badassbolsac@reddit

FE would retain more of its value due to its “exclusivity”, but the pny would run cooler temperature wise due to more fans and better heatsink, but the standard for 90 series cards is undervolting anyways so its really which you find more appealing
