How is Buffalo Wild Wings still in business

Saddest display of sustenance ive ever paid money for
Sidekick87@reddit
I went two weeks ago so disappointed! Super slow service in the food was bland and basic
krayonic@reddit
I think a better question is why you went to BWW and ordered a sandwich
Mrphy86@reddit
That's wht they offer. Dumb question.
mledonne@reddit
Went 2 days ago and the sandwich was the best part. Also ordered 15 wings (for like 25bucks) and they were all so small and stringy. All of them were like the size of my finger and I didn't mt have big hands.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
I used to love BW3. Went relatively recently and realized the last time I had the BW3 I loved was 15 years ago. At the very least. It's actually sad what they've become lol 12 spicy garlic and buffalo chips (why would you name something on your menu shit?)
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
I went with a group of car friends every Thursday back in 07-08. The food was always fantastic.
Went back for the first time in I think 2014-2015, and it was awful. I haven’t been back since.
SirRichardArms@reddit
Oh man, you just described my friends and I as well at that exact moment in time. BWWW was peak between 07-10 for my friend group. Nowadays? No way.
smelly_finger_itch@reddit
I went there once in 2014 or so. The wings sucked and the lighting felt like a cafeteria rather than a bar or restaurant. Lighting sucked. At least they had the games on. Other than that, it has been a hard pass for me ever since.
Stop going to chain restaurants and bars.
SirRichardArms@reddit
The wings used to be not-bad and affordable. I don’t remember the lighting being bad when I went, but this was a long time ago. As far as chains go, I mean yeah…most chains suck. But there are a lot of towns/cities where there’s not much available anymore, so you gotta pick a chain sometimes when in a pinch.
nelsonalgrencametome@reddit
Similar experience. Made somewhat frequent stops there in the mid 2000s during my college days and they always had pretty good food and prices if I recall. But didn't go for years after that until a new one opened near me about 10 years ago and I was so disappointed by them.
Personal-Aioli-367@reddit
Yep, would go for $.25 wing Tuesdays, play some NTN and a few drinks. Those were the days.
leg00b@reddit
I've been there twice and gotten food poisoning both times :/
AndiPandi74@reddit
I’ve never eaten there but I’ve heard so many food poisoning stories. So. Many.
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
I am not even remotely surprised.
2bags12kuai@reddit
Same time frame as you. We used to go forget which day was their wing deal regularly. Always good, always a good time. Went maybe a couple of times in that 2012-2015 time period every time leaving swearing this was the last time .. especially as the food bill started getting close to what I would pay at a nice dinner. 2015 was the last time I was there.. never again. I still eat wings and drink beer way more than I should .. just never there
amonson1984@reddit
10¢ wing night in Mankato MN hit pretty damn hard in 2003. It’s been a shell of its former self for at least 15 years.
briwu36@reddit
Do doubt their expansion cost them quality control.
swamp-trout@reddit
Private equity is the down fall of everything. They take something good, squeeze every last dollar from it and sell the parts for pennies on the dollar. Rinse and repeat with the next good thing until everything sucks.
BlnkNopad@reddit
and we keep paying em to do it 🇺🇸
Ok_Tour_1525@reddit
That is the god damned truth right there and I hate it.
Mindless-Command5107@reddit
Ill 2nd that.. I literally find some microwave dishes that are as good if not better than what you get in a restaurant. Especially once private equity takes over, just scratch that place off the list of options
Butt_stuff_preferred@reddit
Because while they enshittify the product, they're still making profit.
Splampin@reddit
The Enshittification has just begun.
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
Begun? Naw bruh, just accelerated to its maximum since COVID. I left the US toward end of COVID and I've heard it's only gotten worse and worse. Almost to the point of it not being worth going out anymore at all
e925@reddit
It might be regionally dependent but in my area there are still a ton of great restaurants. They’re expensive but worth it. I just don’t get my hair done anymore 😂
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
I mean as far as I've seen whenever I've been back for a visit, it's only the mom and pop local restaurants that still deliver. All major chains seems to have dropped in quality, quantity, and level of service while jacking up prices like crazy and expecting a tip for every little fucking thing. I have to spend a few months in US soon and I'm dreading it
e925@reddit
Ah ok, I get a lot of joy out of tipping generously so that doesn’t bother me. Hopefully you still end up having a good time on your trip!
larkspur01@reddit
When was this “end” of Covid ?
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
When the lockdowns stopped.
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
I had classmates who went into private equity.....they sucked, it tracks.
SirStocksAlott@reddit
RandysMoustache66@reddit
Why do we still allow it if it genuinely makes our world worse for everyone? It seems like we managed to knock Cigarettes and Racism down a few pegs, I feel like we could take a good axe to this too.
HTD-Vintage@reddit
We made dents in those things, sure. But they are the ones who own everything. And the current administration is is going to spend the next three years ignoring anti-trust laws to ensure it stays that way.
It's apparent that the goal is for the president and all his weird old friends to make as much money as possible, by any means necessary, regardless of repercussions, before his time runs out.
It's really impressive that he's made a good chunk of the country like it, too. Selling people on promises is easy, but to not live up to any of them, while actively making every citizen's life worse, and still having them say "awww, it's alright uncle Donnie, we don't mind. Thanks for helping us normalize racism, bigotry, and pedophilia again" is pretty remarkable.
HTD-Vintage@reddit
People just want to eat garbage and drink mediocre beer and liquor in front of a screen so big they can see the bulges in the NFL players pants... Leave them alone.
Less-Damage-1202@reddit
Exactly right
Late Stage Capitalism is just awesome, eh? 😑😠
ManbadFerrara@reddit
Why are you calling them “BW3?”
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
I’ve seen it a lot when referring to BWW, but never knew why.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
It comes from the original restaurant that carried a sandwich called Beef on Weck (regional NY staple) so it was Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck or BW3
the-gooch-is-loose@reddit
I refuse to call them BW3 anymore.
That's what I called the good restaurant.
The enshittified wing slinger lost their right to the name.
_WeSellBlankets_@reddit
I don't know if I heard a full-fledged rumor, or just got some bad info from one guy, but I swear I heard that the wing tip portion of chicken wings was called weck. I first ran into B-Dubs in 2000 and they had already dropped that from the name.
Back in my day, wings were 25 cents on Tuesdays.
1917he@reddit
Absolutely not - let me help you. Weck is short for "kummelweck" which is a roll. "Beef on weck" is a buffalo staple sandwich from an older time.
So a restaurant serving hot wings and beef on weck became "buffalo wild wings and weck". Over time the restaurant dropped the "and weck" to become just "buffalo wild wings". From BW3 to BW2
Overall_Tiger3169@reddit
The weck was short for kimmelweck, a type of seeded roll they used to have back in the days of 25 cent wings.
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
We always went for 50 cent night on thursdays.
_WeSellBlankets_@reddit
Ahh, boneless. I went one time and got chicken tenders cut up into thirds. I really didn't have a problem with it, but I feel like you gotta let me know ahead of time. But Tuesdays and Thursdays were nuts on college campus. I imagine the kitchen was chaos.
TheGrouchyPunisher@reddit
In college in the 90s, the cheapest I saw was 10 cent wings on Tuesdays. I believe by my senior year they were up to 25 cents.
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
Well, after almost 20 years, I now know.
Thanks random stranger!
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
Now go forth and win trivia
jamesbc1983@reddit
Could have looked it up if you were so interested. Try google
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
I never cared enough to look, but thanks for the snark.
CortezD-ISA@reddit
It comes from the OG name “Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck”. And the other coined term for it “B-Dubs” comes from people saying it phonetically like “Bee-Double-U-Double-U” so they eventually shortened it.
ksizzle01@reddit
Double Vee
jeckles@reddit
Buffalo Wild West Wings
RichLather@reddit
Old enough to remember them as Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck.
daschande@reddit
I worked there about a decade ago when they had the weck as a limited time thing for some anniversary. The best thing I can say about it is that it was free for the staff to try. The SALTIEST brisket pre-sliced and frozen. Au jus powdered in a bag. The recipe called for special bread, but we never got any; so they went on regular burger buns. As my waistline will attest, I am NOT a picky eater, and that was just bleh.
ManbadFerrara@reddit
? TF is a “weck?”
1917he@reddit
Short for kummelweck
tdibugman@reddit
Weck is a salt and caraway roll.
Usually served with thin sliced beef, AKA "Beef on Weck"
LeaneGenova@reddit
And usually in au jus for the beef, at least every time I've had it as a PA'er just south of the border of NY.
Neil_sm@reddit
Short for the “Kummelweck roll.”
Anchor Bar, another Upstate New York-originated wing chain has “wings and weck”as a menu item, for example. In that case, referring to the hot roast beef sandwich on the roll.
govunah@reddit
Could call them BMW. They just park themselves anywhere with no indicators
leverphysicsname@reddit
For my entire life, I have never understood why some people call it BW3.
I'm finally going to ask, why do you call it BW3?
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
All you had to do was read.
Forward-Cat6083@reddit
I went to the one in Charleston SC before they got huge, maybe 96, and they were so good.
Low_Construction8067@reddit
Ok, I am not a fan of BWW and no one I know is, so I've never heard someone call it "BW3" So I had to look that up and apparently they are called Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck. I had to look up what the fuck a "Weck" is, and apparently it is some kind of beef sandwich on a specific type of kaiser roll.
I have eaten at BWW probably 4 times in my life so I'm not super familiar with the menu, but I do not recall a sandwich called a "Weck" and never in my life have I even heard that word before.
Here's the Google definition of a Weck:
A "weck" is a German bread roll, specifically a crusty, salty kaiser-style roll topped with coarse salt and caraway seeds, derived from the German word Kümmelweck. It is most famously used in Buffalo, New York
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
I literally commented why they were called BW3 in another comment buuuuuut
Low_Construction8067@reddit
Bro... if I read your comment, do you honestly think I would have gone through all the trouble to research it and then comment it on reddit in a thread about it that does not contain your comment?
nuunuunnuunuun@reddit
I worked in corporate for BDubs when they were bought out and moved from Minneapolis to Atlanta to be part of Inspire Brands.
I even moved to Atlanta with the company.
It immediately went completely to shit internally, and that showed up pretty quickly externally. I left the job after 8 years, only a few months into my move to Atlanta for them.
It went from my favorite work experience to my least favorite work experience ever.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
That fucking suuuuuucks. I kinda wondered what it was like tbh, to be serving "food" of this quality and being fine with it
VintageZero@reddit
What's the 3 for?
jbjhill@reddit
Did they get bought out by private equity? Those dudes fuck up everything they touch.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
They sure did! Investors saw that boneless wing you ate.
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
Why is it called BW3?????? Buffalo Wild Wings = BW2 ???
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
That question is answered a few times in this thread :)
Disastrous_Hell_4547@reddit
They sold to a holding group like most fast food companies.
WheelchairEpidemic@reddit
Why do people say “bw3.” There are only two w’s.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
Very sly, commenting and deleting it right away.
You have some very big feelings for someone with such little reading comprehension.
WheelchairEpidemic@reddit
What are you talking about
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
Read the entire comment thread and maybe you'd learn something instead of a knee jerk reaction when you see something you're not familiar with
ghettomuffin@reddit
Why do you call it bw3
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
Read the rest of the thread that your question has been answered in.
jakegallo3@reddit
Was just thinking it was about 10-15 years ago I could say they were still good. Had multiple mediocre to bad experiences during and after the pandemic. I’m sure it was a bad location in general, but it was always busy and packed despite it.
absolut696@reddit
Conversely I have been going to BWW for 20 years and while I’ve had some misses over the years, I went two weeks ago and had some of the best wings I’ve ever had there. The price is def tougher to swallow but they had some decent happy hour specials on beer.
thatguygreg@reddit
Pre-VC BW3 was amazing.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
It really was. I can still taste it.
Visual-Floor-7839@reddit
"why would you name something on your menu shit?" And then 1 sentence later, "that shit used to be so fire". I love the English language lol
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
Yeah I thought about it and decided to leave it hahaha
LeaneGenova@reddit
I ordered BW3 for the first time last week when I was having a craving and when I opened the package at home, I started laughing at how insultingly tiny and terrible it looked. It was so bad I couldn't even be mad.
Six overcooked boneless wings smaller than an infant's fist, a few ounces of potato wedges. The best part of the meal was the four carrots and two pieces of celery.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
It is actually insulting tho lowkey hahahaha
hikeit233@reddit
Wings got too popular and now the quality sucks because the chickens they come from are diseased and gross.
TOMC_throwaway000000@reddit
Yeah I was honestly trying to think of the last time I had b-dubs (and enjoyed it) and 15 years ago sounds about right, 2010-2012 was pretty peak
SirDeeznuts@reddit
What's the third W?
Alexandur@reddit
weck
govunah@reddit
My wife and me went last year for a special they had. Place was disgusting. Service was awful. Food was sad. We haven't been back. Our friend went last week for a local band and they had remodeled and really improved everything but I'm still not going
PalliativeOrgasm@reddit
The last time I really enjoyed BWW it was still named BW3 (Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck).
Hotrock21@reddit
Where was this I only like tiny flats, ngl? 😂
Muted_Confidence_285@reddit
I just got 20 pounds of wings for $1.49 a pound and I smoke em how I want em. You do the math.
Another 30 pounds and we’ll be set through all of football season and SB
ExcellentFisting3471@reddit
You willingly ordered 15 chicken wings for 25 dollars? From BUFFALO wild wings? Where they force BUFFALO in to every name imaginable, while not being based in BUFFALO?
It couldn’t be any more obvious my man
Anxious-Log6208@reddit
Damn your bww sucks, mine always produces fantastic wings and sandwiches. They have a green chili hatch smash burger that is a banger.
AdventurousLeague468@reddit
I thought their burgers were pretty good too
bidetatmaxsetting@reddit
Really? The main reason I stopped going to B dubs was cause they had some gargantuan wings and the ratio of wing to skin with sauce was off. First bite was good but the following bite would just be mostly the inner bland flavored chicken and I actually dont like chicken flavour thats why I like my chicken slathered in any kind of sauce or seasoning that hides it,Lol!
No_Mail_2019@reddit
Last time I went to a BWW there were 3 of us and we all ordered wings with a few varied sauces drinks and maybe an app if I remember correctly. It took almost an hour for the wings which aren't exactly a culinary masterpiece, deepfried and tossed in a bottled sauce (I'm certain they aren't making them from scratch at every location) and no the dining room wasn't even close to half capacity.... The kicker being the bill was over $100, needless to say I haven't been back since.
WhistlesMcBritches@reddit
Charging over a dollar a wing anywhere should be criminal
becauseinsomnia@reddit
I actually hated their sandwich and loved their boneless chicken wings!
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
I can’t stand boneless wings. It’s an insult for chicken wing connoisseurs for those battered breast chunks to be referred to as wings. 😆 I’m so naive that when I first ordered boneless wings from them, they really weren’t a thing yet, I literally thought it was going to be the meat from the wings removed. 🤦🏻♀️ Worst disappointment ever!!
becauseinsomnia@reddit
You sound like a snob. Its okay to not like something. No need to shit on what others like.
BaconHammerTime@reddit
That's why you get the nuggets for the same price. The whole thing is a chunk of meat with no bone to deal with.
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
But the wing meat off the bone is the best part of eating wings! 🙈
wenchslapper@reddit
Ironically, those massive wings we’ve all grown accustom to are from massively overly genetically modified chickens who are bred to get so fat that their legs eventually break under their weight. 😁
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
I hate the massive sized chicken pieces today. Sadly the restaurants get the smaller sized portions. One half bone in chicken breast can feed a family of four!!!! Ridiculous.
wenchslapper@reddit
Are smaller portions really that bad? I think it’s time we in America woke the fuck up and realized eating a pound of saucy chicken with dipping sauces and 3 celery sticks cut in half isn’t really the best for us. And restaurants shouldn’t just blatantly push that mentality.
IMO the only real issue Bdubs fails at is their advertising.
SadExercises420@reddit
That is so expensive for wings!
wolfwarriorxyz@reddit
Thats why i just order boneless now, their bone in wings are pathetic.
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
Boneless wings are not wings though. They’re beast meat with breading. Meat from a completely different body part.
Sedona54332@reddit
The size of wings seems to vary every time I go.
J3sush8sm3@reddit
Ro i bought burgers and wi gs from there two years ago. The smallest and driest burger ever and the worst sauces i have tasted. The chicken was overcooked and tough. The $12.99 chinese buffet had better wings
251Cane@reddit
I’m glad your stroke got better as you continued typing
J3sush8sm3@reddit
Damn that was terrible
TreyRyan3@reddit
I lived near one and honestly for about 3 years, that particular franchise sold the best burgers. They also knew how to properly double fry wings so they were still juicy but with crispy skin. Then the quality dropped off
Hot-Celebration-8815@reddit
But were the wigs alright? Like was your hair looking fly while you choked down the food?
DireKnife@reddit
Play nice man.
solarus@reddit
Supply chain problems. BWW only serves chick wings for the foreseeable future
SuperSecretMoonBase@reddit
Dry too! Fools don't sauce for shit.
Terrible_Reporter_98@reddit
If there's a roosters in your neck of the woods give them a shot. Nice big wings and surprisingly reasonable prices.
SchmohawkWokeSquawk@reddit
Do you really like the rubbery, steroid injected mega wings?
mledonne@reddit
1/2 a bacon melt, and about 9wings. Me and my partner like to split meals when we go out and and find 2 meals we both would want.
madcowrawt@reddit
So what you're saying is if you ate a sandwich you'd still have enough room to eat three hands worth of fingers?
shuknjive@reddit
Can you make your own? You can buy 4 lbs. of wings at the grocery for half that. Baking powder, salt, pepper, paprika (I like smoked) and garlic. You can use any dressing for a dip. There are decent recipes on allrecipes dot com.
permalink_save@reddit
I still don't understand how a bite of food is $1-2 now, for fast food level shit not even a gourmet meal. It wasn't even that long ago chicken strips were $1/ea, or small burgers that are now $2-3. I just buy ingredients and make my own as much as I can now.
Sufficient-Pin-481@reddit
Went to BWW once and the wings were small and pricey and haven’t been back, over 10 years later I haven’t seen a reason to try them again.
jtravvis@reddit
I mean to be fair their name used to be Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck, which is a roast beef sandwich.
theroadbeyond@reddit
I mean if you get 10 wings you have your daily sodium for 1 week. It's insane.
ProfessionalHefty349@reddit
Because their wings are terrible, so maybe he thought he would get something edible.
Eclipse8301@reddit
Reminds me of the time I went to Milwaukee burger co. And ordered a fish dinner sigh
zeeyaa@reddit
I think their burgers are pretty solid.. it’s been a while since I’ve been there though
LeanCuisine91@reddit
Had their burger the other day, still really good
sm0lshit@reddit
Why would they even offer it if it’s not going to be any good? This isn’t the consumer’s fault at all.
iameveryoneelse@reddit
Looks fine to me. Like any other sandwich. And if the fries were on the same tray it looks like a perfectly fine, if greasy, meal. It’s not gourmet but nothing looks foul.
SkynetLurking@reddit
Lots of places offer things they don’t specialize in because people want variety/options. An easy scenario is a group of friends go out for wings but 1 person in the group doesn’t want wings. It’s convenient for everyone if there are non-wing options.
It’s not surprising that restaurants serve options other than their specialty. It is surprising that anyone would be shocked by a subpar sandwich from a wing joint
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
Or because those people who order that shit are weird as fuck and don't understand what restaurant they're going to
sm0lshit@reddit
Well, obviously they aren’t going to be making any money off this person anymore, and possibly others that are turned off by the sight of such mediocre food. I personally don’t even eat there because I agree with OP that their portions look sad, but that extends to the rest of their menu as well. So basically, the only person to blame here is the corporation, who I have 0 sympathy for.
Deathclaw_Hunter6969@reddit
Goes to a place that specializes in wings and gets…a sandwhich?
Informal-Bicycle-349@reddit
Their wings aren't all that great either
QueezyF@reddit
Carried heavily by their sauces
Nick12322@reddit
As someone who had the misfortune of working at a b dubs as one of my first jobs, the sauces are legitimately very good. Everything else is ass tho lmao
Fwamingdwagon84@reddit
Lol, it was my first job waiting tables in 2004. The sauces are fantastic. RIP smoky southwestern
thatissomeBS@reddit
They're certainly not as good as good wing places, but they're better than 80% of the random sports bar wings I've had from elsewhere. I prefer medium sized wings from like a 4-6lb bird anyways, don't need steroidal drummies from 9lb birds. After that just get them cooked somewhere between like 165-185f and it's fine.
Like any chain, I don't go there because it's the best wings ever. I go there because they're at least a consistent 6.5/10 or something and I can get 4 different flavors of wings for a relatively decent price. If there are no deals or coupons to make the price decent I don't go there.
A_Lone_Macaron@reddit
yessir
mango habanero is one of the best sauces on the planet and I will die on that hill
Worth-Comment-9469@reddit
BWWs has some of the worst wings outta any chain lmao
Same-Suggestion-1936@reddit
Every chain has the worst wings that's why you don't go to chains for wings
If it was cheaper it would be fine but it's not
Splampin@reddit
Popeye’s wings are cheap and delicious. Might fuck you up a little though.
thatissomeBS@reddit
And BWW is still somehow better wings than 75% of the pizza joints and sports bars I've had wings from, even if they're nowhere near as good as the places that do it right.
Same-Suggestion-1936@reddit
Dude the amount of people who buy wings from like Dominos is wild. They're not bad if you send them through the oven twice and get the sauce on the side but they charge over a dollar a wing
amazing_rando@reddit
I unfortunately live in a city where local pizza spots don’t make wings so my choice is between chain wing restaurants or chain pizza restaurants or going to a bar and getting deep fried Sysco wings. In that situation all they have to do is have better sauce than Wing Stop, which isn’t hard. Or Korean fried chicken, which is excellent but also different food.
jgamez76@reddit
The sauces are good.
But the wings themselves are just fried skin I swear lol.
Worth-Comment-9469@reddit
Fair enough
gsfgf@reddit
That tracks. I’ve never been to one, but if I did, I’d probably get a buffalo chicken sandwich.
jgamez76@reddit
Honestly, that's always my first order at any sports bar or sports bar adjacent place. My thought usually is, if you fuck that up I don't trust you making me anything else lol.
Large-Training-29@reddit
Yeah i only get boneless now... ive gotten so many wings that are about the size and amount of meat as my thumb, its horrible, at least the one near me.
Like I said though, their boneless are great for what it is.
Lumpy_Accountant723@reddit
Why have it on the menu if it's ass tho? Crazy throught process here
sm0lshit@reddit
I’m losing brain cells trying to understand what everyone here is talking about. So ass-backwards.
LameSignIn@reddit
You choose to eat the food they specialize in because that's their main focus. Getting something outside of that is just asking for disappointment. That's like going to a Mexican restaurant and ordering a T-bone steak. Sure they can cook it but it's one of the last things their kitchen staff ever do.
Alexandur@reddit
Bone in steak is really not that uncommon at Mexican places
sm0lshit@reddit
Well, apparently not because myself and some other commenters here have said themselves that the thing they “specialize” in, isn’t very good either. Don’t really know why anyone would spend money on ANYTHING in this place, even if it’s “wings.”
Griffithead@reddit
They literally wouldn't have anything on the menu then.
_draupnir_@reddit
Restaurants usually try to have a selection of dishes to bring more people in. Sometimes the dishes make sense and other times it’s a question of why include it. I think what most people posting are trying to say is, if the restaurant specializes in one thing and that’s what they are known for, it’s not always smart to order things outside of that specialty. You wouldn’t want a shrimp Alfredo from IHOP because those shrimp might be sitting in the freezer for a while.
sm0lshit@reddit
Try again, and read.
Why would a place sell… a sandwich!
wateryonions@reddit
Because mfs like op order it lmao
sm0lshit@reddit
Well, they’re obviously going to vote with their wallet and not order it ever again. And this post certainly doesn’t help.
Again, why are we blaming the victim? If this was a post about a normal sandwich, no one would care. Instead, bitter people like to just make everything OP’s fault…
wateryonions@reddit
Bitter people? Lmao
sm0lshit@reddit
Yep. 9/10 people on Reddit, if they don’t immediately agree with the narrative, will become hostile. It happened right here in this post!
wateryonions@reddit
You sound pretty bitter about that
sm0lshit@reddit
😂
trouserschnauzer@reddit
I haven't been to one for a long time, but don't they have a full menu? A sandwich isn't far off from wings anyway. It's pub food. Not like they ordered a seafood platter or some shit.
sm0lshit@reddit
Yeah, people here don’t seem that intelligent. They seem to think just because a place has “wings” in the name, that any other order would be “the incorrect thing to get.” People have some brushing up to do on their smarts, is what I’ve learned today.
JUYED-AWK-YACC@reddit
Most people can’t tell. It works.
TW_Yellow78@reddit
Because it's easy money on people.
sm0lshit@reddit
What does this even mean?
No_Restaurant_774@reddit
Because the wings are shit.
Tkhel@reddit
This right here. BWW is in business because people go.
punksmostlydead@reddit
Simplified. Overpriced chain garbage, that place is.
sd_saved_me555@reddit
It's been awhile, but my last memories of BWW wings were... not good. Tiny, overpriced, and underwhelming.
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
Most chains are like that. That’s why I rarely ever eat at any. Good authentic restaurants have better food.
DouchNozzle_REAL@reddit
Hot take but bdubs wings suck, atleast at my location. I only go when friends or family want to
Mr_Diesel13@reddit
They used to be good like 20 years ago. Now they are overpriced crap.
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
Their wings were good because not many places carried wings. Now they are everywhere. Comparing them to other places, they took a backseat.
Taolan13@reddit
Best thing I ever had at BWWs is their fish taco.
SquirrelAdmirable161@reddit
Their buffalo chicken tacos used to be good but haven’t eaten there is a very long time.

“Why do chicken wings at Subway suck?”
RaiderRush2112@reddit
What is it $10 for six wings now
gsfgf@reddit
How much do they charge for wings these days? So many places are over $2/wing.
Snpies@reddit
Before they closed down the BWW by me (in Canada) charged like $22 for a single order of wings. Their wing nights were a 25% discount.
They tasted good only cuz of their sauces, but it was never worth the price. There's a bar near me that does 50c a wing three times a week so I go there now.
I miss the days of 20c wings. My dad still talks about the days of 5c wings.
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
Holy shit.....fuck that's expensive.
JoeRogansNipple@reddit
Similar, local B-dubs closed near the end of covid in Calgary. I used to get orders every other week during the bogo sales. They changed to buy one get one 50% off after raising prices. So it was almost double. No thanks, I'll just airfry my own nuggets and sauce them at that cost.
FuzzzyRam@reddit

Some people are fucking weird like that.....I knew a dude who just ordered burgers whenever our group went to BWW, we even offered one time to go to Fuddrucker's instead and he was like "nahh, we can go to BWW".....dude, like wut? why would you waste money on that?
purdinpopo@reddit
I and my wife have been to Buffalo Wild Wings four times. On not one of those occasions have we found a wing sauce I like. Little Ceaser's wings are fine, wings at Casey's are fine, Domino's wings are fine. I make wings at home and they're great. The four different sauces we tried at Buffalo Wild Wings are all terrible. Now when people suggest it I just say I would rather go anywhere else. So I agree with OP, I don't understand how it's still in business.
HTD-Vintage@reddit
Dude will go to Red Lobster if he wants some chicken wings, thank you very much.

Really wanted a philly. Luckily had a very good one the day after this at a food truck
Taolan13@reddit
Your mistake was ordering a philly, outside of philly, anywhere that wasn't a food truck (or at least a shop that has a known good philly)
Naquanrice@reddit
it’s called a cheesesteak
Taolan13@reddit
And most places that have it on their menu can't even get that part right, they serve it as a 'steak and cheese'. It's only a cheesesteak if it's all cooked together on the grill.

absolut696@reddit
Not always, I’ve had some damn good wings at BWW and I’ve been eating wings for 30+ years now and consider myself a wing snob. Their spicy garlic sauce is A+. It’s one of those places that every once in a while I get the itch to go.
Realsober@reddit
If their wings suck why would you think anything else would be good 🤔
Chaotic_Brutal90@reddit
I don't think any of their food is good.
CaptainKate757@reddit
Agreed. I’ve never had a good meal at BDubs, but it’s so popular that I thought I just had bad luck the few times I went.
Realsober@reddit
Exactly why if you don’t like what they are best known for then you don’t go at all.
dharmabird67@reddit
The onion rings slap, I've read they fry them in beef tallow.
Realsober@reddit
I love the wedges. If they take them away then I’ll stop eating there lol.
Ok-Operation-6432@reddit
I like their chicken sandwiches, but I’m a big fat fuck. The rest of the menu could be 75% cheaper and still not worth it.
Realsober@reddit
See it’s still chicken so I’d definitely be ok with going to a chicken place to get other types of chicken 😂
CleansingFlame@reddit
They used to have a black & blue burger that was phenomenal
alcohol-@reddit
That sandwich is better than most of their food imo. If you factor in that it’s only like 13 dollars and comes with fries vs wings at full price being like 25 dollars for the same amount of food, it’s way better.
kryonik@reddit
Their burgers are sneaky good.
narcistic_asshole@reddit
They used to have a burger that came with prime rib and your choice of wing sauce on it and it was so fucking good
Chickenheadjac@reddit

arequipapi@reddit
Was gonna comment the same. I don't go there often, but I travel a lot for work and sometimes I just want something predictable and familiar, in a place where I can request any game be put on one of the TVs, while sitting at the bar and socializing with random other people.
I can't remember the last time I actually ordered wings there, but their burgers are low-key pretty damn satisfying. They have one with fresh jalapeños, onion rings, and BBQ sauce that I usually get and it hits the spot every time
Over9000Gingers@reddit
Their wings are shit too
dwwdwwdww@reddit

Acrylicvalour@reddit
Yea like y a cheese steak of all things they have at least 4 different burgers sandwiches and wraps that have chicken and their sauce.

dkode80@reddit

Beneficial_Pop_3614@reddit
My theory is that all corporate chains are getting very expensive because so many people refuse to dine at these places anymore. The more people that stop eating out the higher these corporate restaurants raise their prices and the lower the quality of their food. One day the downward spiral will end in the demise of the company. BWW gets their chicken through Sysco, meaning they serve the same damn frozen wings Hooters and every other Chain restaurant in the US does. There is nothing about these places that make them unique besides their sauce.
Brenn2255@reddit
That’s a good question! Worst restaurant meal I ever had was with my ex wife and step daughter. We didn’t even eat the food just got up and walked out. We said the appetizer was probably just a mistake so gave em a chance with dinner.
CherryCandy927@reddit
WE walked out this weekend when the host refused to give us a booth because they were short a server. Dude, the booth is like 10 feet away, The server could certainly cross sections. Ridiculous.
CinemaDork@reddit
I don't really think it's unreasonable for a restaurant's offerings not to completely suck. "It's your fault for ordering a thing" is a crazy take to me. If it's on the menu, the restaurant should stand by it.
soft_goth94@reddit
Corporations don’t care about quality and guest experience, they care about profit. Don’t eat at major chains, and you will find a lot more food with integrity. We as a whole need to stop giving corporations money to serve terrible food, not demand that they improve. They could improve if they wanted to, they have the resources. They do not care. The onus is on the individual when selecting a place to dine. I will not return to a bdubs myself after a similar experience years ago.
Blackops606@reddit
Yeah it’s like when I heard Wendy’s was closing hundreds of locations. Well that’s too bad! It’s not my fault you overcharged for a burger only to cut its quality and then have it look like someone sat on it. I’ll pay the same price for a much better, healthier, and fulfilling meal at my local restaurants. Fast food just isn’t appealing in any aspect anymore.
Big_Crazy_SSBM@reddit
I used to go to wendy's somewhat often because they would have generous deals on the app to get free food, they got rid of those as a cost cutting measure around the time they changed the lettuce, so I simply stopped going completely.
Unlucky_Ad_9776@reddit
Also anyone can make a burger in less time it takes to wait in line and order and get he food. I made a burger last night in about five minutes. While watching TV. Its relaxing
Mathfanforpresident@reddit
Bro, this is a NEW business model. Corporations didn't ALWAYS need record profits.
The greed used to have regulations and taxes behind it. That's gone. So, they're cutting corners to maximize profit at any chance they can.
LiftingRecipient420@reddit
This is categorically false ever since Henry Ford's shareholders sued him (and won) for using Ford profits to improve the community instead of increasing profits.
In short, no, this is not a new business model. The underlying incentives have not changed in over a hundred years.
Mister_Crowly@reddit
The new deal (and ww2) happened and then for a few decades labor had legs and regulators had nutsacks. It took quite a while for the mega wealthy to figure out how to buy the government back again.
Kriegwesen@reddit
I would recommend Taming the Octopus but Kyle William. While partially correct you're missing a whole century of history and nuance. I'd say a good argument can be made that large amounts of modern corporate governance are new. Executive pay structure/packages and incentives are nothing like what they were during the industrial revolution, as one example.
broguequery@reddit
I'm sorry, what?
What universe have you been living in?
This has been the case since day one.
Once you get a business bigger than a mom and pop, it immediately stops being about product, service, or quality... and immediately starts being about exploitation.
That's reality.
Mathfanforpresident@reddit
Bruh, old money families used to control the wealth. Nepotism and "who you know" used to be far more greater in value. It's coming back, however.
The internet made all these new billionaires. (Fucking Google it) After Doge, musk has almost doubled his net worth. Went from 400 bill to 800 in a little over a year. For reference, Jeff bezos has been sitting around $225 billion for the past 3 years.
Anyways, they used to see the guillotine for this kind of unchecked corruption. Old money knows that. That's why they used to build hospitals, libraries, and other public works.
If you'd read a book, you'd understand this.
NaturalOk2156@reddit
I don’t think mom and pop restaurants are immune. Sometimes they do take a longer term outlook, but often they are just less skilled at cost-cutting
Kahlypso@reddit

It's neither unreasonable nor reasonable that sucky restaurants exist. It is extremely unreasonable (and entitled) to expect that sucky restaurants not exist.
And it is reasonable to expect when you go to a restaurant with a reputation for making sucking _ , and you order ___ , it just might suck.
CinemaDork@reddit
There is a difference between acknowledging something's existence and saying it shouldn't exist.
None of this is a diner's fault or responsibility.
mailslot@reddit
Some items are placed on menus just to shut up picky eaters so regular people can enjoy themselves.
Leather__sissy@reddit
I remember seeing what an old girlfriend would receive as the only vegan option. It was like one step above just throwing a roll at her head. Two slices of white bread and half a tomato = vegetable sandwich
I know it’s lazy people being greedy so that one friend at the table can buy something other than drinks, but it’s crazy that it’s now the standard to build restaurants around menus rather than recipes
CinemaDork@reddit
They still shouldn't suck. And no one should be blamed for getting a sucky meal when they ordered it as-is from the menu. Particular dish substitutions/cooking demands? Sure, you chose to mess with the meal. Directly off the menu, it shouldn't suck.
mailslot@reddit
Then you get people saying “you should have chicken nuggets. I don’t care what they taste like. My son has autism and won’t eat anything else.”
CinemaDork@reddit
You are presenting false choices here. If you don't want to put chicken nuggets on the menu, don't. If you choose to, they shouldn't suck.
TheDevilishFrenchfry@reddit
I seriously hate hearing this all the time and it's literally every single time, for 99% of other items they offer on the menu besides like one specific thing. "Dude you went to papa John's and ordered pasta and the meatball sub, what were you were expecting?" "Dude you went to a fish fry restaurant and ordered the tater tots and chicken basket" etc etc. Like yeah my bad for not just ordering the one thing only every single time out of the hundred other things they offer, it's so dumb that we've been conditioned to accept that specialty restaurants too specifically like bww can offer loads of other shit but only the wings you should not expect to get scammed hard on.
phaser125@reddit
I use to love the honey bbq bacon burger and buffalo chips . Then they shit up the burger patty worse than a cheap frozen patty I could buy at a corner store .
JunkSack@reddit
I agree in general. The thing is it’s a shitty chain, even the thing they’re specifically known for sucks, so other stuff on the menu is probably going to really suck.
LiftingRecipient420@reddit
Corporations don't give a shit about customer expectations. They care about money. They only understand money. Stop giving them money for shitty food.

KimchiLlama@reddit
Likely a change in supplier for a few key ingredients or a new coat-cutting policy that went into effect across locations.
IFeedSquirrelsAMA@reddit
No, they were bought by private equity as has been discussed several times in this thread.
KimchiLlama@reddit
They were bought by private equity and something changed to the food. So I theorized that it was cost-cutting driven by the new private equity ownership.
What part do you want to argue about today fellow Redditor?
El_Diablo_Feo@reddit
When did private equity buy them? I haven't been to a BWW in many years, but I remember them being ok.

Ssesamee@reddit
almost assuredly yes those are directly linked to
Cupid_Me1@reddit
Do you know the private equity company? 🤔
metalguy91@reddit
Roark Capital Group, same company that owns Arby’s, Subway, and Jimmy John’s. Also many BWW locations are switching to mobile only if not just closing. And anyone who’s been there since their acquisition in 2017 will tell you it’s been a downward slope quality wise. So yeah they’re not dead yet but what they used to be is certainly dead (been there off and on since they were Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck).
BauserDominates@reddit
That company likes to strip the good things and let the brand rot. That is why you see the sauces from all of those places in the grocery store.

Did you try it more than once? Could be someone’s bbq wings just got mixed up with your spice. It’d be kind of hilarious if you’ve held this grudge for 4 years and turns out the cook just squeezed the wrong bottle in the bowl when he was coating the wings.
nohopeforhomosapiens@reddit
It was not a mistake. I went back and the manager informed me they had just changed the sauce.

I regularly eat hotter food, in fact made my own hot sauce and wings today. It was just a nice way to get some hot chicken once a month on a tuesday that I didn't have to manufacture myself. Oh well, their loss, never going back.
tryingisbetter@reddit
I feel like all hottest sauces across all restaurants are no longer hot.
nohopeforhomosapiens@reddit
I agree with this. But it is because they have to serve a large number of people, so I get it. There aren't any restaurants that are very hot to me, the ones claiming to be have a lot of vinegar in the sauce usually. I only eat at Asian places, so at least it is usually well-spiced, but if I know I am going out I bring my own. I've just never had pain from hot peppers like so many people apparently do. It hurts if I get it in my eye but hot to me is not a painful sensation for my mouth whatsoever and never has been.

Same. I also still buy their sauces for when I make wings at home. The Nashville Hot hits like a motherfucker.
darklogic85@reddit
Yeah, I actually really like BWW. And honestly, even the food in the photos doesn't look bad to me. It's not what I'd order, and I don't know why anyone would go there and not order wings, but even so, it looks fine to me. That's just BWW's style, is to serve things on metal trays like that. I have no problem with it personally.
My only complaint with BWW is their prices now. I used to go there for lunch like 15+ years ago and it was a great price and really good. I feel like the food hasn't changed at all since then, but it just costs double now, so I rarely go anymore.
so2017@reddit
This is the point OP misses. If you live in a place with great wings, bww sucks. If you live in a wings desert, it’s an oasis.

Yeah the one near me is really good too. They’re overpriced for sure, but their burgers and sandwiches are good. The wings are good too but I just don’t want to pay their price for them very often. There’s actually a very simple answer for this question. Commoditized food from chain restaurants always provides one thing: predictably.
I know that going to a BWW in Memphis, TN will be the same as going to one in Boston, MA. I don’t have to worry if they’ll have something I like. I don’t have to worry about spice levels. I don’t have to worry about a functioning bathroom. I don’t have to wonder if they’ll have that beer I like. Generally speaking, I don’t have to worry about health department scores. Corporate entities ensure that everything is generally the same across the board for every restaurant.
Predictably counts for a lot, even if it’s predictably mediocre.

Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
It used to be BWWW. Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck. The beef on weck is a stellar sandwich, not far removed from the cheese steak. In any sane world B-dubs would have a stellar selection of regional sandwiches from the northeast. It’s part of their core identity.
reddituser9277@reddit
Brother a beef on weck and a cheesesteak aren't similar at all. Don't let around from Philly or Buffalo catch you saying that
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
Look, the Beef on Weck is a far more sophisticated sandwich with a far higher degree of difficulty introduced by the complexity of getting the kummelweck roll just right. But they’re pretty similar nonetheless and if a company staked its foundation on the beef on weck they should, in all likelihood, be able to produce a sublime cheesesteak.
Charirner@reddit
It's a roast beef sandwich on a kaiser roll wish au jus, it's not that sophisticated.
Kconn04@reddit
This fucking idiot thinks anything with meat from the same animal is pretty similar. So a steak and fries is the same thing in his mind as beef stew.
Kconn04@reddit
A cheesesteak is thinly shaved and chopped ribeye with cheese on a hoagie roll and a weck is rare roast beef with jus and horseradish on a kummelweck roll... How the fuck do those two things sound similar to you? Other than them both having beef as the protein nothing is the same.
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
“Other than the core ingredients being the same they’re totally different.” What color of paint chips tastes the best?
Kconn04@reddit
Buddy the core ingredients are not the same. Different breads, different toppings, different meats, different fucking everything. Do you think a cheesesteak and a fucking steak banh mi are the same thing? "Oh well they both have meat from a cow so its got to be the same!"
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
The two main ingredients of either a beef on weck or a cheesesteak are flour and beef.
You like blue the best, don’t you?
Kconn04@reddit
Jesus christ my man, do you have a learning disability? Do you really think a pulled pork sandwich and a pork tenderloin sandwich are the same???? Private Equity ruins everything it touches.
sonicboomslang@reddit
Isn't that sort of the point of private equity? They purposefully ruin businesses because they profit by doing that somehow with financial shenanigans?
HomelessKitchenCat@reddit
Its just that when you buy a business that has enough goodwill they have a runway to extract profit at the expense of the quality - the customers will keep coming for long enough for them to squeeze a significant profit, then when the brand is totally ruined they close it and start over again. They are straight up vampires.

NaturalOk2156@reddit
Private equity can be a broad term. In my experience they are cheap bastards, but I don’t know that there are a ton of “financial shenanigans” involved.
A lot of the bad reputation comes from firms that buy sick companies and wind them down. That is never going to be a process that makes people happy. It’s basically sending your company off to the glue factory.
Jackdks@reddit
Private equity only owns these companies for a period of time before eventually taking the ipo public again and cashing out.
The entire idea is they want to maximize profits however they can. That usually comes by cutting labor hours, decreasing product quality (cheaper ingredients or frozen and ordered vs fresh prepared), and all the while raising the price of the product itself.
This leads to a higher profit margin as most of these companies (subway, Panera, Cinnabon, etc.) have brand recognition and a loyal base initially. This means they already have a number of customers.
They implement these things slowly btw- not all at once. By the time people really start catching on they sell the company and claim their returns.
It’s sucks, and it’s just another example of how the rich get richer at the expense of everyone else.
hovdeisfunny@reddit
You can't "take the ipo public again," that's not a thing
NaturalOk2156@reddit
The phrasing is wrong, but I think what they are trying to express is that private equity purchases a company, which may be publicly traded. They then attempt to improve its financial performance, and usually after about 5 years they will want to sell it. One of the ways they may sell it is via IPO. Dell Computers for example, went private in 2013 and re-entered the public market in 2018.
The reason they typically want to sell after 5 years is that private equity invests with other people’s money (called “limited partners”), and they eventually need to return that money (and hopefully a large gain) back to the limited partners
sonicboomslang@reddit
The key point is PE just owning for a short period of time. Finance bros that think PE firms are just playing the market in a fair game would say that PEs add value by acquiring businesses and trying to make them better so that they can then resell them for a profit, and on the surface that seems like what they do, but when you look at what they do from a macro economic level, they are just preying on the financial system, adding no value, contributing nothing, making nothing better. It's purely a numbers game these snakes. Nothing matters to them except maximizing profit in the shortest term possible. If businesses and lives get destroyed in the meantime, it doesn't matter at all to them. It's the epitome of a financial system that benefits the already rich/wealthy. It's mathematical seek and destroy purely for monetary gain, fuck whether or not the business they destroy held any value beyond pure financial gain. The proof is in how PE firms are now destroying the already unbelievably bereft Healthcare industry in this country. It was beyond fucked before they got to it, now you can't even seek a "lowly " nursing career without being used, abused, chewed up, and spit out. There's a reason why no one wants to be a nurse anymore (and they're quiting in droves when nursing used to be a noble pursuit where you could also maintain a solid middle class lifestyle and have work/life balance without giving up everything/selling your soul).
sonicboomslang@reddit
And I just realized all that shit I just said is in shittyfoodporn subreddit. As ridiculous as the post-capitalism people are, it's very obvious that unchecked capitalism is a race to the bottom. Perhaps as I mentioned above: nursing as a noble and sustainable career pursuit, and the collapse of said career, is a barometer for the fall of our civilization. 20-30 years ago, going into nursing was a guarantee of a relatively decent, economicalky middle class life, and you could be proud of what you did because it still had the mantle of helping people and society. Now...who the fuck wants to be a nurse? They're just used and abused now, and it's because of the profit motive introduced by allowing PE firms and middle man "medical coding" corporations and all of the myriad profit based companies that are parasites in between the patient and the caregivers that is the shitty ghost in the machine of our health care system. Our hospitals are non-profit, and still they are being bought up by private equity and squeezed for every dollar.
God Money I'll do anything for you. This is America.
Carb0nFire@reddit
In the modern framework, yes. In the ideal? No. the idea is for them to buy companies that are floundering, improve their processes, and set them on a course for sustained profitability and growth.
If PE couldn't buyout other companies with leverage, or offload their debt to these failing companies to "take if off their books", you'd have PE buying a lot fewer companies, and this insane ramp-up of company pillaging would have never occurred. Basically, the system is broken, and we're all just waiting for it to fail.
Prestigious_Wrap_932@reddit
If those worthless chucklefucks in Congress would just make leveraged buyouts illegal again the problem would go away, but no matter which party is in power they refuse to deal with this issue because they’re getting rich as shit burning American companies to the ground.

I haven't been there since 2005 but my wife went recently and said their burgers are stupid good. I've heard others talk highly of them as well, especially for the price point.
Extr4Sp1cy@reddit
Their all American cheeseburger is one of my favorites. My friends and I would go back in high school and we still go at least once a week. This is a v unpopular opinion but I LOVE Buffalo Wild Wings. Cheap beer, solid food deals, always have sports playing. It really depends on the location though. Most corporate locations will typically have better service as opposed to franchised locations.
Cupid_Me1@reddit
can confirm, the burgers are outshining the wings. they’re revamping fry and hold times on the wings because they realized they‘ve turned to ass. I know, I use to work there. Get the bone in when they’re hot and fresh and they’re 🔥
Brailledit@reddit
Some of my coworkers liked it so we would go there probably once every 2 weeks. I thought they sucked, and I tried different sauces every time. I refused to go with them anymore.
You-get-the-ankles@reddit
I'm looking at $37.00. I can buy 15 pounds of canned chicken for that.
itsagoodtime@reddit
The idea of BWW is always better than actually going to BWW. It's almost always cold, over priced, under portioned. It's like if there was a restaurant that actually made good food with the same idea and atmosphere, then it would be packed.
0vercast@reddit
There’s gonna have to start using tiny plates to make the offerings look bigger.
Their sauces are still amazing, though.
mollyfy@reddit
I ordered a burger from a place called Wild Burger once and didn’t know it was the burger offshoot of BWW (like how Burger Den is the Denny’s burger offshoot) and it was the most disgusting thing ever. So many weird chunks. I ended up pulling the burger off and just eating the bun and veg. They are so gross now.

Vegetable-House5018@reddit
Won't be surprised if they eventually become like other older brands like Chi-Chis and the restaurants close but you can still buy products at the grocery. I do like their sauces, but the prices in their restaurants have been out of control for at least 10 years so stopped eating there a long time ago, but still regularly buy their sauces at the store to put on chicken i make at home.
bustingmyballs@reddit
I used to order bdubs to go every once in a while. They won’t even give you 1 ranch for free when ordering take out now. They want me to pay $1 for a 2 oz ranch they never fill up all the way.
sunny-side-artist@reddit
Yeah they dropped the wing prices by 20 cents then make you pay for ranch separately, claiming it’s a better deal for the customer. I made a big stink to my bosses about the greeters not filling the ranches all the way after that. It’s literally the least we can do for the customer.
Exact_Condition8291@reddit
You suppose just order wings nobody orders anything else unless your redacted
Jlx_27@reddit

midwest_elder@reddit
there are people in America who only eat foods in the yellow to brown range. All vegetable must be fried, everything needs cheese, and no meal is complete without meat.
Cultural-Memory356@reddit
I have two of these relatively close. Both used to be decent and we would go from time to time. Now their food is awful. Chicken always tastes a week old and hard as a rock. Sides taste like they reheated left overs from another order.
It’s a shame. Used to be a decent place to go.
That said, everything I said applies to almost every chain around me.

Had a friend who worked their in high school back around 2012 and he said they’d just go into the freezer, grab a plastic bag of whatever wings were ordered, vent it, and put it in some special microwave. Idk if that’s how all locations do it but the ones at his location were Pizza chain level mushy

Yeastlord427@reddit
Our daughter has autism. One of the only things she will eat is their french fries. We get them for her once or twice a week. $9.17 for a large order. The container, more often than not, is usually half empty, We will order an additional regular fry to add to the empty large order.
noplace_ioi@reddit
from a neutral perspective ( never ate or saw their food items) the food looks decent and doesn't fit 'shittyfoodporn' at all, if you mean the portion I can understand maybe.
funandgames12@reddit
Outside of the standard wings and sides thier food is pretty crappy. And they even miss in the wings sometimes honestly. Also as others have said it’s very location dependent. They also do a really bad job at consistency across the different locations.

Buffalo Wild Wings is a weird one for me. When I lived in Austin, it was always dead and the food just wasn’t great. But back home in South Texas, it’s the complete opposite—packed every time, great food, good service, and a fun atmosphere. I guess it really just depends on the location.

badassbolsac@reddit

ImaginaryFun5207@reddit
They have genuinely good bottled sauces and the desert heat seasoning is my go-to for grilled chicken at home. Their food is sub-par but I use their sauces regularly for wings I make at home in my deep fryer.
yourballsareshowing_@reddit
I went 13 years ago and wasn't impressed, and never returned! I'm originally from Buffalo where wings and weck were invented and a bit of a wing snob, and BWW is garbage.
klimocohc@reddit
I got blisters in my mouth once at Buffalo Wild Wings, so my beef is personal with them.
Did their wing challenge and their asshole manager and staff brought the wings out straight from the fryer. My fingers literally burned from tapping it and they forced me to sign the waiver and start immediately or be disqualified. I did 3 minutes 30 seconds so I was over by 30 seconds, but my mouth was burning and the hot oil gave me blisters on the inside of my cheeks.
Ocel0tte@reddit

Wings are a goddamn scam at this point. You'll be lucky to find them for less than $1 each.
$1. For a wing.
It's like 2-3 grams of actual meat and the rest is breading and sauce and bone and connective tissue.
You might as well go to the store, buy some instant chicken-flavored stuffing, make it as usual then bake it a little bit to dry it out a little, and then serve with your sauce of choice. At least that will only be a couple dollars.

Did they get bought out by a diversified food corp? They used to be the goto wings place in the early 2000s in an area not know for wings. Food was good and fresh. Sauces were fresh. But bye 2010, they started to really suck. Sauces in commercial packages that you’d open to dip into, wedges had gone way down hill, etc. generic Cisco type wings and tenders. They are the last wings place on my list, when they used to be the first.
dp5520@reddit
Years ago I would visit Wilimington, OH as a regular part of business. This place literally had no decent place to call a decent place to eat. It was the culmination of fast food garbage restaurants. One could safely call it the HFC capital of the country. Bufffalo Wild Wings was considered a fun family place to eat to the point where people were excited to get gift card to "B Dubs". I would often see a family of six where the youngest would outweigh me (a grown man of 180 lbs) by 60 lbs easily. This place, among many others is a piece of what is poisoning this country as a whole.

2: how horribly they treated the staff
I walked out in the middle of my first shift and got begged by the GM to stay or come back the next day, which I knew was a red flag. I haven’t eaten there since (4 years ago)

Veggie burger isn't half bad, but the takeout aspect is bad. Which is important for any restaurant since food delivery is so popular. Want wings? So easy to cook yourself. Usually about $3.50 a pound for whole wings. $15 gets you a couple dozen. $3 for franks hot sauce. Buffalo sauce is just franks and melted butter. Split the wings between the joints, throw away tue tips. Bake at 400 for 25 mins. Take out and too in sauce. Done.

The one here is pretty good, and one of the cheaper places to eat out nowadays. When I go there with my wife we can get their $20 for 2 entrees + 2 sides + 2 drinks and it ends up being way cheaper than basically any other restaurant for 2 meals.
Anywhere you go quality is gonna vary for chain restaraunts though.
MyBeardHatesYou@reddit
Well, it's where all the broccoli-headed teens that wear sweatpants and slides hang out.

They are a little overpriced, before tip. That same Philly is $15 where I am. I'm not ready to splurge like that, just yet.
Stonekilled@reddit
Who goes to BWW and orders a sandwich, then complains that it’s the “saddest display?”
You’re at a wing place. That’s like going to Olive Garden and complaining that your burger sucks.
I get what you’re saying, and it sucks your meal wasn’t great, but maybe read the room next time 😂

Butt_Smurfing_Fucks@reddit
I wondered the same question too. I stopped going about 10 years ago. Inconsistent food, bartenders that don’t know bar protocol, filthy filthy tables piled up, and last straw was going to watch a football game and asking if one of the TVs will show my team, the reply was “nobody gives a crap about that team.“
And these experiences were consistent across several locations.
To your point, how is that place still in business when there are so many other awesome options?
quickscopemcjerkoff@reddit
BWW was good at one point in time, but it probably got taken over by another soul sucking corporation that killed the quality to make the most profit possible
strangejosh@reddit
I have no clue. The one in Pasadena near me is ATROCIOUS. Went in there twice a couple of years ago and the service is just awful. Ordered fodd and never got it. Nobody wants to talk to you. I get it. The job sucks but it's still your job.
CO-freeride@reddit

It doesn't look bad at all to me, what's the problem? They could have put it all on one tray I guess, for a better 'presentation'. It's probably overpriced, but I've seen much much worse things served at restaurants.
Kingimus@reddit
They were open for less than one year where I live and closed down.
Gleipnire@reddit
Saddest, so far. I'd eat it. But still, green onions on a cheese steak is just blasphemy. And the fries need seasoning - maybe they just changed the oil or something.

ReversedNovaMatters@reddit
The food was ok, and by food I mean $0.50 boneless wings, but their service ALWAYS sucked. It always took 30 minutes to get food and I'm not sure I was ever at a BWW when it was really busy.
Sometimes it would be absolutely dead, and even more than 30 minutes for food. I don't know if it was a business decision to hold back orders before serving them or the staff just always sucked at every location.
Anywho, I haven't gone back since they stopped 50 cent boneless wings.
Fair_Grab915@reddit

myassisgrassss@reddit
When I worked there in 2012 it was the worst experience. Lasted for 3 weeks.

I shit you not, my wife and I went to a BWWs in Kansas City after we watched a movie for our anniversary a few months ago and she ordered a wrap.
The wrap had what we believed to be insulation in it... or it was moldy chicken. But I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and thinking some how insulation fell in.
She didn't eat it, it looked hairy and gross when we disected it. And we won't be back.
The service was also very bad and we just wanted to get the fuck out of there at that point.
(The main reason we went there was because it was one of the only places open at like 10:45pm)

___po____@reddit
My problem with BWW is the extreme lack of consistency. I ordered a burger on sale once and it was just dry, bland, bun was crumbly, little to no blue cheese & crumbles.
The next sale they had was a free burger with a $20+ purchase. I got the 20pc boneless deal and a free hatch chili burger. That burger made it to one of my top tens.
Got the wing deal again when it hit another sale. Wings were all dry, small or hard as a rock, barely sauced.. And they forgot my damn dips..

I considered opening a franchise in the mid 2000's because the wings were good and it was an up and coming franchise. Seriously , six wings was a full meal. IIRC, you needed a minimum buy-in of non-financed $6M. I nope'ed right out of there and got a stack of engineering and business degrees instead.
Once Wall Street got their meet hooks in there (2003), executive bonuses got paid on short term earnings. The execs started optimizing shareholder returns by slightly cutting quality ever year and marking up prices. 20+ years later and the food is terrible, the wings are overpriced, the TVs are all different hues, and the floors are sticky.

15 years ago, it was a place me and my buddies used to frequent and the food was actually decent. The problem is that people go there mainly to drink beer and watch sports - so the food has degraded naturally become a secondary if not tertiary priority.

I've never been to BWW anywhere and had anything that made me want to go again - shitty burgers, dried out wings, etc. For a while, I'd say "we haven't been here in a while, lets change it up." 45-60 minutes later when the food comes out, I remember "ohhh, right, THAT'S why we quit coming here".
I begrudgingly went a few weeks ago for an office outing. Ordered wings with a side of coleslaw. I'm not convinced that the wings weren't cooked the day prior and heated up with another drop or three in the fryer. Borderline jerky. There was no dressing on the slaw at all, just chopped cabbage. I pointed this out to the waiter, he went to the kitchen, came back and said "that's what it all looks like, that's the way they make it".
I'm convinced that the only thing keeping them open is alcoholics.

guacasloth64@reddit
As someone employed by the aforementioned bison appendage restaurant I don’t see anything too unusual about what’s in the picture. Idk why the fries are on a separate tray when they clearly stickered the tray with the cheesesteak but other than that everything looks up to spec. That’s not me saying that this is some great spread of food, it’s still corporate chain restaurant food. As others have said the food quality varies a lot between locations. Well staffed locations can put out decent food on a consistent basis, but a poorly run location (or a middling location having a bad day) can put out garbage just as reliably.
Cool_Guy_McFly@reddit
Not for their food lol. BWW ‘s food sucked a decade ago. They are more of a chain sports bar. Good drink specials, always playing the major games, and their appetizers are ok. It’s something to munch on while you’re drinking.
