How to avoid Coil-Whine on GPUS? Bought RM1000x & RM1000X Shift, both had coil-whine...

Which PSU might have less to no coil whine?

The PSU is rarely responsible for coil whine. It is usually a GPU design issue due to inductors or ceramic capacitors vibrating. Alternating current creates an alternating magnetic field. The solution is either damping the components to reduce vibration or adjusting the switching frequency/current to a lower amount. For example, setting an FPS limit and undervolting will usually reduce coil whine by a noticeable amount. A heavy cooler + thick thermal pads will damp the inductors.

That does not make any sense, because I had INSTANT coil Whine as the PC started up, no game running, no stress on the GPU, NOTHING, and it buzzed like crazy... I send it back anyways, I aint paying 200$ for the SHIFT just to have an audible Coil-Whine. It sucks.

Coil whine from the PSU is rare, not impossible. Does the coil whine still occur with the GPU unplugged?

Yes, I just tested it. The Coil-Whine from the PSU is still there, plugged in an RM1000x SHIFT white version, and it was 10x WORSE ... Im gonna return both.

I’ve had great luck with SeaSonic and SuperFlower.

Buy a Seasonic PSU with better components. Never had coil whine and that's the only brand I have ever bought.

The 850 watt version was tested and is one of the quietest on the market. https://hwbusters.com/psus/be-quiet-pure-power-13-m-850w-atx-v3-1-psu-review/9/

you cannot avoid coil whine, its just what happens when you lots of electricity flowing through metal parts, every pc has coil whine especially high wattage ones.

Sometimes running the system for a month or two can help- did so in my case. Over the first two months after I built my PC the whine gradually went away.

Just get older... Between the hearing loss and tinnitus you wont notice any coil whine...
