The Futon Company do a selection of leany ladder things and I have two of these to store my current clothes in circulation and odds and sods. Also works well for arranging work clothes on for the morning.......I consider taking 'The Chair' out of my life with this system as one of my greatest achievements. https://www.futoncompany.co.uk/shop-by-product/furniture/leaning-ladder-storage/leaning-ladder-clothes-organiser.html

Beckon call. Not a phrase I dislike as much as the phonetic spelling of it by the ill educated, although I'm sure they could give a shit.

What to do to perfect a Sunday roast?

Posted by margaretgb16@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 30 comments

aemdiate@reddit

Gordon Ramsey has an old cook book that I believe is called Sunday Roast. A very good place to start. Also Jamie Oliver did one which revolves around the theme of cooking a big bit of meat on Sunday, more than required, and then using the leftovers to make a variety of meals mid-week, which will be less trad but more budget friendly. Good luck and enjoy.

No one is going to ask you to write a report or give a presentation tomorrow. They are just going to introduce you to a few people, accept you won't recall all the names, show you where the fire escapes and the toilets are. Then it will be near enough lunchtime. The person showing you round will probably have some stuff to get done so give then some peace before lunch. The afternoon is about making sure you have access to all the systems, making friends with IT and recording your voice message, sending an email to each peraon you'll be working with. Look on the intranet at any policies or procedures you will need to be familiar with, email HR about things like payroll and pensions if you haven't been given any info. Your first week isn't about being productive at this level, just getting a solid base to kick off from. Have a good dinner, choose your clothes and lay them all out, ack your bag and have a lovely bath/shower. Make sure there is petrol in the car, or you have bought your train ticket before bed. Set 2 alarms. Have a great first day.

Have a look at sleep meditations/guided meditations/hypnosis videos on you tube. I send them to my Alexa (whole room) or Snoozeband (the cheapest one is the best and there are even cheaper copies on Amazon (£40 for cheapest name brand one). They work better if you have an ad blocker or are Premium. I recommend Steviejo Harris, Michael Sealey, Jason Stevenson and the incredible Nicholas Wright who has sadly passed away. I recently found Chibs Okereke who does vagus nerve release before sleep hypnosis whicb are great and in an English accent like Nicholas Wright as well. If there is a Tanning Shop near you that has a red light bed I recommend buying a course of ten and having 15 mins twice a week for a few weeks and listening to a 15 minute mindfullness meditation at the same time. This warms the bones and forces you to lie still. Just search 15 minute mindfulness on You Tube, The Honest Guys are well thought of. I hope you feel better soon. Remember to feel all your feelings even though it is hard, rather than just distract yourself. If you do that and take care of yourself remember this too shall pass.

People over 50 - what’s your advice to someone in their 30s?

Don't have children or a dog until you have travelled a bit. The world is changing rapidly and travelling is less fun than it used to be before influencers and Instagram. Go out and see some world, have a big experience or two. I would prioritise owning a smaller property outright over a larger property and fewer savings, especially given the rate of change. I chose not to have children and I'm very happy with that decision, unless you have a burning desire to be parents I wouldn't do it.

My boyfriend's father calls me a slut, is that a cultural thing?

Posted by aussland3r@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 710 comments

aemdiate@reddit

This is his way of showing his son that he doesn't accept his sexuality, and it is repugnant that he does this by verbally abusing you. You should not accept this snd more importantly neither should your boyfriend. This is shameful behaviour and nothing to do with being British. Also, no-one is throwing around terms like faggot any more. I haven't heard this term for years. It sounds like you are misinformed or have fallen in with deeply homophobic people. I would have a serious conversation with your boyfriend and consider leaving the relationship. This is not OK.

I get mine tinted and shaped with tweezers about 2 times a year, once at the beginning of summer and once about 2 weeks ago. In between I use a clear brow gel or castor oil on a spooly. When the ends go blond I get them redone, but would fill them in with a pencil.
