Got called the n word in my own garden. What should I do ?

Fuck is not shocking. No swear words are shocking. Especially not to a teenager. They say the N word for effect, because its the last word that is truly forbidden. Well I suppose all racial slurs are "Forbidden" but not on the same level as the N word. Cracker and slope are the only two I can think of offhand. I frankly look forward to being called a cracker some day. Hell, the fact we refer to it as the N word instead of saying/typing it is telling in and of itself. No other word in the English language has the same history or power. Imagine shouting fuck at the top of your lungs in a shopping center, you might get a few glances. You should a racial slur and the world almost comes to a stop. At least in civilized places. The only other word I can think of that commands a fraction of the power is cunt. Although even cunt has lost its charm over the years. Americans still don't like it but over this side of the pond its pretty common.

I know people don't like to talk about their shits but I swear you've gotta try psyllium husk my friend. After 20 years of using the toilet once or twice a week, at best, it has changed my life. Also cheap as chips. I use 2 measures in the morning with my breakfast and 2 with my evening meal. I recon a measure it perhaps a level teaspoon, can't be sure, it comes with its own measuring spoon. I generally believe all supplements and such are scams, started vitamin D at the same time and its been less than useless but psyllium husks do work. Don't buy the name brand shite, off brand is the exact same thing without flavoring, you get used to the taste eventually.

I'd retire on 1 million easy. Buy a house for 150k and them live off the rest. Wouldn't be a glamorous life but it'd be a life not spent working. Whats the average returns on an index fund. Like 9-10% per year. I know you'd have to pay tax on it but still, leaves me enough to live on without touching original sum.

Hey, I doom scroll with the best of them but Tiktok is a different beast. Its the first thing that I've seen in my short life that actually makes me worry for the future. Its doesn't even solely infect the youth. Its damaging to everyone from 8-65. Buses are a hellscape of 5 second tiktoks. I grew up with youtube, its format of 5-10 minute videos have certainly helped to destroy my attention span, I can't imagine what 5 seconds a video does to your mind. Its not just tiktok I grand you. Its the smart phone generation is general but tiktok just feels like the end of the line. We'll see in a few years, perhaps your right and it'll just a moment of madness from a random redditor but I think we've already passed the point of no return.

From what I've seen more often than nought they end up disrupting actual police activity. In one particular case a few years ago it actually resulting in a guy getting away scot free, just because someone wanted a few likes on facebook. Imagine its your job to watch hundreds of videos of kids being abused, you finally have enough evidence for a conviction and some twat disrupts the process and the guy gets away with it. I looked into the process a few years ago. Thought it would be a rewarding career choice but alas I didn't have the stomach for it. Not only do you have to watch the videos, you basically have to transcribe every word and every action that the perpetrator and victim makes/says. If you could do the job muted I could probobly handle it but I can't imagine listening to the pleading of the victims. Damn, that thought has ruined my night.

I'm looking at the min. If a house has a bath I automatically add 7k to the price, as thats what it will cost to re do the bathroom. If it has a bath and a shower I'll allow it, but a bath/shower combo is a sign the house needs a lot of work done.

Those tinned yokes where something of a stable in our house. I vividly remember my siblings and I trying to cut it into 3 portions of the exact same size. We were practically counting the crumbs. Always served with 1/3 of a tin of custard piping hot. I also vividly remember how many times I cut myself on the lid. Tin lids are by default very sharp. The edges on the puddings though could cut diamond.

If you believe the internet it happens every single day. I've heard so many stories. Statistically its bound to happen but I've never heard about it from a reliable source. Its happened to me playing roulette too many times to count. I'll be playing for an hour on the same number then my autoplay runs out and sure enough the next number out is the one I was waiting on. Or I'll go on to back a horse and the race starts before I can get my bet on. You can be damn sure that horse is winning. One time it was a 100/1 shot, was that confident I got a friend to stick the money on as his app supported in race betting. Think it had went out to 150/1 at this stage. He stuck my money on and a 10er himself. Was a good day for me, better day for him, my standard punt is a £1.

Men in their 30s and up with no kids or wife, how is life?

Posted by River1stick@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1123 comments

TheIncontrovert@reddit

There are pro's and cons. I personally think the pro's outweighs the cons. The only real downside in my eyes is its quite difficult to get on the property ladder as a single person. I'm certainly happier than I would be if I was in their position with kids. This is not to say I'm happier than them, I just wouldn't be happy living their lives. I have a friend in a similar position, same age as me. His dream is the wife and kids and is struggling to attain it, he is not a happy man. People just have different goals in what they want from life. I think the real difference is I value my freedom more than them. If I want to have spagbol every night for a week I can. I can jump on a plane tomorrow and the only thing I have to worry about is taking a chunk out of my savings. I can spend my weekend building a shed out the back or sitting in my boxers eating bread from the bag dipping it in anything runnier than bread.

Posted by Electronic-Serve2454@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 61 comments

TheIncontrovert@reddit

Exactly. If you pay for the media you consume they'll finally pay their staff a living wage, replant the rainforests and cure cancer. The extra money they receive defiantly won't end up in the pockets of the CEO's and shareholders. As for theft, piracy is but a drop in the bucket compared to theirs. How many billions in taxes do these companies sidestep? Is taking money out of a nations economy and not paying taxes morally acceptable? Look at the profits Netflix alone made in 2022. Compare that to the salaries of the actors in their Netflix original series and movies in the same year. They had the money to pay them fairly, they chose not to. Giving Netflix your money will not increase how much they pay their Staff/Actors.

Most people don't remember we're part of the UK but in Northern Ireland once a year we set massive fires in the middle of residential areas. Cause a crazy amount of property damage to the local community and knock the fuck out of anyone wearing a different colored t shirt. We also enjoy learning an instrument just to the point of basic proficiency. Get together with our mates who've done the same and go goose stepping around the area subjecting the populous to the 6 songs we've managed to learn. Its not much but its culture apparently.

How old were you when you stopped enjoying 'wild nights out'?

To be fair this post is about Wild nights out. You don't have a wild night out on 3 pints. I drink most Fridays and am back to full steam by Saturday midday. On the wild nights out, such as peoples birthdays, weddings or funerals the festivities tend to continue longer. I'm also more likely to indulge in cocktails where as the rest of the time I'm a beer drinker. Also worth pointing out everyone's body handles alcohol differently. I have a friend whos 4 years older, and probobly 70 pounds lighter. She can drink the same as me, and be up for 6am ready to go on a run. Shes a medical marvel, shes doesn't know what a hangover is. She says she occasionally feels a bit tired. Meanwhile I'm feeling like death.

I've met a good few hundred stoners in my life and I can honestly say not one of them was aggressive. The sheer numbers would indicate my experience is not a statistical outlier although I confess it is possible. I think the problem is some people take weed and other things. Someone i used to know was a stoner and a cokehead. He was aggressive as fuck on coke but wouldn't harm a spider on weed. I actually seen him bring a house spider outside once. Although the result is the same, the spider died. Folks, you need to learn this, either kill the fucking spider or leave it be. Putting it outside is just condemning it to a slow death.

If those numbers are correct...Jesus H Christ. That's 131 tins of the standard rotgut like Rockshore, Heineken, Carlsberg. 18 tins a day. That can't be right surely? Obviously its easier drunk with spirits but that's mad. Never mind the physical cost, consider the financial. If you did it with beer thats £125 a week. Cheap Spirits approx £102 assuming £17 for 1lt of 37.5%. You should really consult a doctor and work on reducing or quitting. If you get to that level of intake I fear quitting may be the only option. Good Luck!

12 units cant put you at considerable risk of alcohol poisoning. That's 6ish tins of weak beer. It certainly exceeds your weekly limits if you were to do it often but I don't think your at any risk of poisoning. Tolerance is a thing. A person who never drinks will be hit harder than someone who drinks regularly. I took 4 months off it last year to lose a bit of weight, I certainly felt it more when I started drinking again.
