My school ended its corporal punishment policy just before I got there (1997) Some teachers hated this and would just assault you instead, usually with some method of looking innocent enough. Board rubbers thrown, rulers smacked on desks that just "accidentally" catch a knuckle, having the whole team tackle you at rugby practice... They knew it was wrong, so they found inventive ways to inflict cruelty.

While I'm not advocating for lying on your CV, you should definitely punch it up a bit by focussing on what you can do. You've not been out of work, you've been in freelance graphic design. You're not desperately looking for a job, you're "seeking new opportunities in a changing market". It's things like this that squeak past coke-head recruiters and their shitty AI and get you in the pile to be considered.

Is it crazy to try cover 430 miles in a day?

Posted by dick-the-prick@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 820 comments

PM_ME_BEEF_CURTAINS@reddit

I drove from Portmsouth to Edinburgh regularly I need a couple of breaks, and usually arrive exhausted, but it's not ridiculous My spouse used to drive from Miami to South Carolina every summer, and Miami to Ohio for thanksgiving every year, so 400 miles in one day is fairly "normal"

Is Coke OT the only soft drink in the UK that doesn't use extra sweeteners?

Posted by Averusty@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 945 comments

Or, as someone with more hinges might suggest, we should stop pushing all soft drinks to switch to sweeteners from sugar and acknowledge that not everything needs sweeteners.

> How am I supposed to manage school holidays with such limited time off without palming her off on friends every other day? This is the way, as well as getting to know your neighbours, and leveraging every school friend. Your employer might also be a bit more flexible during the holidays, it is worth asking them. That said, when my wife and I separated and the kids went with her, I would go round to hers to watch the kids while she worked until she got herself a bit more set up.

I got an Origin Spouse prefers softer mattresses, but I held firm (intentional) and we went for the Origin Hybrid. The foam provides the softness that the spouse needs, but it's still supportive enough for me.
