I have, they've got great potential. I just don't want to see Chrysler slap the hemi in this and call it a day. They could probably poach a lot of Corvette buyers though if they did.

Posted by SonGT38@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 61 comments

Option420s@reddit

For me this really depends on the manufacturer. For Toyota it's usually a pretty safe bet it'll still be reliable. For Ford I don't think I'd touch a new gen until it's 3 years old.

50 years later, why do Toyota and Honda still rule the reliability roost? What stops Chevy or Ford or Nissan from becoming as reliable as them?

Posted by Specialist-Pool-2581@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 574 comments

Option420s@reddit

A big part of it that's rarely discussed is as an attempt to keep unions from forming throughout the supply chain, manufacturers in the US purposefully built their factories far away from suppliers to minimize interaction between workers. This loss of interaction causes information in general between important parts of the supply chain to be lost. Any time an issue with a part occurs it has a higher chance of being missed and making it into the final product. Toyota doesn't have this issue and works very closely with their parts suppliers and catches issues faster as a result. There's more to it but this has been a big part of what's made vehicles made in the US less reliable.

Option420s@reddit (OP)

I could see Microsoft making an equivalent to chromeOS for Chromebook type applications, their spin on it could be something as simple as good active directory integration. Most of the employees that work at my business work entirely within the web browser anyway so why bother with full fat windows? It'd be more secure and have better battery life as well. The active directory integration has big potential imo, it's a pain to run a network as-is and have a mixture of windows and ChromeOS devices.
