I've never left a tip at a restaurant, nor has anyone I've ever known. 80% of the people at your restaurants are either mugs or trying to impress a date. The whole thing is insanity.

When do you open your windows to prevent mould?

A lot of it just comes down to the quality of the property. I lived in a newish flat in Manchester that had awful damp and mould in the bathroom despite having the window open 25/7. I live in a victorian terrace now and I have no problems with mold or damp. Only a very small amount occasionally in the bathroom as it has no window

Do Marks and Spencer really do the best food you can buy in a supermarket?

It's all plastic packaged overpriced stuff. Though I'm partial to one of their posh pizzas as a treat. The sandwiches are quite nice (roast beef an onion sub) but again overpriced. Morrisons is my favourite for a good mixture of quality, variety and price.

Why is London so much better off than the rest of the country?

Posted by Emotional_Scale_8074@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 356 comments

Ok-Cauliflower-7760@reddit

It's not, I've lived in the North and lived in London. Most in London are in pokey flats at best or in house shares. A lot of areas of London are no less deprived than the worst areas of the North - Wembley, Woolwich for example both complete S\*itholes. Property prices also driven up by foreign investors who leave the properties empty most of the time

How do you guys feel about the minimum wage going up in 2024?

Posted by iamrikaka@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 431 comments

Ok-Cauliflower-7760@reddit

It's not a case of you being paid too little it's that those on min wage were paid too little. Customer service/retail/hospitality are all extremely hard jobs. I earn double minimum wage but spend a lot of my time scrolling TikTok, I wouldn't be able to hack a job in Costa. Why do you think you should earn more than them?

How many of you would move to New Zealand if you had the chance?

Posted by DuetLearner@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 31 comments

Ok-Cauliflower-7760@reddit

Don't know why anyone would choose NZ over the UK. NZ definitely has had a real PR spin put on it the past couple of decades. But the reality is all this stunning outdoor scenery that NZ purports to have can also be found in Scotland or Wales and the UK has the benefit of proper cities and culture and also being on the doorstep of Europe. NZ has not much better weather either.
