Where would you go in the UK for a cheap winter break?

New Forest is very pretty and has lots of small villages to explore. Good for walks! Or, and might be a bit rogue, but go to a seaside town like Hastings/St Leonard's because it's off season, and might be a bit cheaper (whereas I am speculating but thinking cosy cottages are probably in demand a bit more in colder months). St Leonard's is such a nice little suburb of the slightly less nice Hastings. Good food spots and antique shops to explore, great beach front promenade, sooo many coffee shops and you can walk into Hastings for shops, the Old Town, a few museums if you fancy.
