Having said that, and having read the rest of your post, I've never told anyone their attempts to chat are boring. That's just dickish behaviour.

Depends how tasty it is. I've definitely had moments of taking a bite, going to start a sentence, then thinking "Hmm. My bullshit isn't as good to say as this is to taste" so just keep munching.

What is the most messed up thing you’ve seen go down at a rural pub?

(Question) Do you learn Anglo-Saxon history in a UK school?

School in the 90's seemed to skip the dark ages; there was a definite jump from the Romans (sanitised, essentially a detailed version of "what have the Romans ever done for us?") to the Normans. Although I did have chickenpox for a while, so that might explain the gap.

Apologies, a question as a non-pilot; in videos/media you see the yoke being adjusted quite a lot second by second, presumably to account for wind fluctuations. Is it the same case for the airbus side stick is, or is that smoother somehow?

What is a pantomime, (also called a panto?), and what is it like?

Have you seen Rocky Horror, how there are specific bits where people yell stuff out and join in? It's like that, but they're traditional fairy stories, and the stuff you yell out and join in with is the same for all pantomimes, not just the story you're watching. They usually star a D list TV or pop celebrity that is way older than the character they're playing, and usually a comedian in drag. It's fun, there's a bit of doubling of the old entendres, and sometimes a song. I saw Chesney Hawks play Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk in Scunthorpe one time. Met him afterwards at a Chinese buffet around the corner too, nice guy! I thought he'd be more hungry after being on stage all night, but he had the won-ton only.

Yeah, I've heard of roughly equivalent things in the Midlands, Yorkshire and Devon, although with different names (I can't remember all of them).

Do you have any conspiracy theorists at work?

I used to work with a night shift worker who believed that the world had stopped turning naturally and the giant wind farm turbines (which were fairly new at the time) were used to keep pushing it around. He also thought that the "we buy any gold" ads that were all over the place were fronts for the government to build giant gold lined bunkers ready for the apocalypse (presumably coming when the fans broke).

Someone I don't know sent me a Valentine's Day card. It was mailed to my work address and arrived two days before Valentine's Day. I doubt that it's one of my coworkers, but I was unable to determine. Also, I have no idea what the letter says. Maybe any of you can guess what it means?

[SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY] What would make all the governments of the world remain silent about UFOs/UAPs?

Nooby1983@reddit

A scenario: 80 odd years ago a race of beings came from 'somewhere else' and told us: "We've been watching you. The actions of humans have the potential to destroy the entire ecosystem of your planet. We value life and the balance of nature, but we also have the capabilities to completely destroy your entire species. Prove to us that your species shouldn't just be eradicated right now". So, if you were the governments of the world, how would you deal with that? How do you tell the people of the world that their destruction is imminent, based on their behaviour? If you just blurted it out, most won't believe it, and some won't believe it but think it's a ruse to control them, and react violently. Those that do believe it will either panic, or take advantage of it. Every individual person who thinks they're powerful enough will want to barter directly with the beings for their own survival, and will kill anyone who stands in their way. Mass murder, chaos, destruction, and then oblivion from the 'other side' after they've watched us prove their point. A smarter way would be to try to shape society, worldwide, to demonstrate it is worth saving without declaring the motivation. Trying to manage the self-destructive and warlike inclinations of humans. Developing technology to reduce destruction/consumption of resources. Maybe even gently preparing society for the concepts that will eventually come out by releasing more and more information, in the form of (science) fiction.
