Bring Your Own Device still relevant?

Let's use the company phone because were are to lazy to have a personal phone and a business phone in the backpack, for work situations. When the company will replace the company phone, the unlucky sap in the IT dept. must move also the users vacation photos and the old gradma photos, the user had saved there also.

BYOD is for the loser's that only use job phone as a personal phone and job also, because they were "raised" this way by the company, most of these douchebags are managers. BYOD should be illegal in 2026......security liability and data leak.

Do gaming PCs actually get slower over time due to hardware degradation of some kind, or is it just perception due to other factors such as software bloat, being clogged with dust, corrupt OS files, etc?

Posted by NerdMachine@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 288 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

Not necessarily the PC degrades, but the a\*s wipes updating the games implement complex stuff and stress the hardware more and make it look that you have a issue with the PC. Usually desktop's that are cooled ok, do not degrade, but the updates insert more complex code and make it look like is you, but it not, is them.

In the US Apple is way more aggressive than in the EU, that is for sure, been to US and saw the Apple advertisement everywhere, like they want to brainwash people into buying their shait. And it works like a charm, never seen so many iPhones in my life like in the US, and the funny thing is, the people i saw were not rich nor high class, nope normal people with the most expensive phone model from Apple. Apple in 2026 is not the same good sturdy phone from 10y models ago. Cheap aluminum that bends and a screen. The last good phone from Apple were XS,XR family, after that, cheap shait with a high price tag.

Any modern use cases for something like this?

Leadership wants a full audit of every AI tool being used across the org. I genuinely don't know how to produce one.

Posted by Smooth-Machine5486@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 222 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

So users are using Ai, on personal phone but the result is used inside the company. And now the company has to many "geniuses" on square meter and does not know how come it came to this, Ai can transform mediocre people in "geniuses" in the face of a even more stupid people, the leadership board. And now the leadership want to audit all the "geniuses" in the company to see who is getting fired. Nobody can see how a user uses his personal phone with an Ai agent on it. But when a extremelly smart thing comes out from a "invisible" person, that is the que to start checking uploaded data and from where it came. Also scan browsers for AI agents addon's outside the allowed ones from the company. It's gonna be fun ! ![gif](giphy|tyqcJoNjNv0Fq)

What would you do? Production line PC “is slow” (Windows 98, legacy SCADA)

Same here, instead of having the Maintenance team able to fix the issue, because most of the people that knew shait about that machine died or retired, they pass the issue to "Normal user IT" team because they are impotent to fix anything, and also because it has a computer in the machine, simple thinking because it suites them fain like that. Probably you were a child when W98 was in trend to be used. I have the same talk's with the retards in my factory regarding that "if it has a computer in it, that does not mean i am trained to fix that". But is simpler for the managers to think like that because is easier to place the blame at the little man, that has no training in industrial computers, he only fixes user computers. I feel you completely ! ![gif](giphy|lQCV6K36nJfJYNxXbC)

Why do many old Laptop get so slow over time?

Posted by Revolutionary_Mine29@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 5 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

Because as the time passes by the Windows operating sistem is being stuffed by Microsoft with s\*it that you do not need and other bloatware to make it work lower and make you want to buy another one. Is been like this ever since Apple did the update to f\*ck peoples battery's up so they would by another phone, with the old one working just fine. These is the world we are leaving in, manufacturers update devices with crap, ton's of it, and your device because is not the latest and greatest will have a hard time keeping up. But is not you that did something is the developer that wants you to buy another phone or computer or any other device that needs updates. The brand f\*cks their own devices to force you to buy.

Behemoth of a XPS M1730 saved from a car boot sale. Whoever the previous owner was had taken good care, as it seems to have a 500GB SSD in it already. Will have to reinstall Windows as the 10 install on it is just atrocious - I have a 3 way boot in mind but it'll take some time to figure laying it.

Your superior acknowledged all your demands, but being a asshole is part of his job and making you miserable right before you leave for vacation is his way of saying, "See you when you get back!". I have to deal with the same sometimes, so yeah, is part of the training "How to become even a bigger asshole than you already are !" is on the list next to the "Call somebody 5 minutes before exit from work time and fuck up their evening".

How do I power limit my gpu?

Posted by estifxy220@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 49 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

Why limit such a good card, let it fly, you payed good money for it just to turn it in a 4060, why not buy a 4060. Call the power company to connect your card directly to the power station, in that way you would pull the wattz from the powerline. Solder some bigger resistors on the board to give it more resistance, i am amazing at giving bad advice.

Why the hate for liquid cooling here?

Posted by Infinite_Two_3763@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 883 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

Liquid cooling is not a AIO used to cool the cpu. Liquid cooling is complex and it cost's as much as a pc, all the fittings and the connections and pump. HATE, is a strong word, envy is the correct one of those who could not afford it. I only used AIO's because i do not trust custom Liquid cooling, and it's aging parts.

How popular is Nutella in the US and do you remember why you bought it the very first time? Did you buy it because you saw an ad or was it a friend/family member who had you try it first? Also, what do you eat it with?

Honey is waaaaaay healthier but with moderation also, you cannot compare a natural extract like honey with cocoa mixed with sugar and palm oil, made by a money hungry corporation that does not give a shit about your health.

Sugar in a jar should be forbidden on the entire planet. That is how you get male titz by eating that garbage in a jar. Nutella in 2025 is not the Nutella in 1990, when it was good and tasted good, now is oversweet cream no taste no nothing just sweet af. Keep your children away from that garbage.

What is the incentive to buy a NVIDIA gpu over AMD?

Posted by Helpful-Option-3047@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 160 comments

Consistent_Research6@reddit

Smart to buy AMD, tech zombie to pay Nvidia the robbery prices on those "new" cards. You buy Nvidia, you buy marketing, lots of it, and not to much "performance" and lots of AI generatied frames, to make you feel good spending a month's salary on a scalped priced board.
