Do you, or anyone you know have an unusual phobia?

vestibulepike@reddit

Yes, me. I have an amputation phobia. My therapist said he’d never come across it before. I’ve had it for years and it makes watching movies/TV quite hard.

Since when did we stop sending 'Thank You' cards to wedding guests who spent money on bride/groom?

Posted by Theres3ofMe@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 568 comments

vestibulepike@reddit

I’m with you; it’s rude not to send thank you cards. We really enjoyed sending out personalised thank you cards, with physical photos of the guest/s from our wedding in them.

What's the most patronising piece of advice you've ever received?

vestibulepike@reddit

I was rejected for life insurance due to my history of depression, despite having a psychiatrist I’ve worked with for years & being on multiple antidepressants. have been in treatment for. Fine, whatever, not bothered about that. But the letter rejecting me suggested I talk to a doctor about my mental health. So fucking patronising!

My GP refuses to take my symptoms seriously. What can I do?

Posted by imposternosyndrome@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 307 comments

vestibulepike@reddit

I had palpitations once a few years ago, when in my mid/late 20a, went to the GP and got a referral for an ECG at once. Turns out it was nothing. I’d push for an ECG referral and ask for a different GP - the advice to ask to speak to the practice manager is good. You could always go private if needed.

Ladies - can you recommend day time leggings?

Posted by geldberks@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 173 comments

vestibulepike@reddit

I have a pair of the Snag leggings and they’re too thick for me - they bunch up around my legs. I mostly wear ASOS and Yours leggings, you get what you pay for so the quality isn’t amazing but they’re not totally see-through and very soft.

Posted by butwhatsmyname@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 64 comments

My parents and in-laws gave us money towards the wedding, which was more than enough. My mother also gave me some sapphire earrings, & my father gave us a piece of art from his collection.

My aunt was diagnosed with ADHD at 62, she’s loving Ritalin. My mum (her twin) almost certainly also has it & doesn’t feel she needs meds, but it’s helped her reframe a lot of actions and behaviours she previously would really beat herself up about.

For those who have been lucky enough to cut their hours from 5 -> 4 days a week, is it worth it?

Posted by Representative_Pin80@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 191 comments

vestibulepike@reddit

I LOVED it and did it for 2 years as a recruiter. Some considerations: - I started off with a 9-day fortnight first and eased into a 4 day week - it worked because I was very settled in the market & had a strong pipeline, this may be totally irrelevant for your industry - Biggest challenge was not having good cover from colleagues for the Fridays I was off I’m now back to give days a week (all from home) in a new role. I yearn for my free Fridays.

Invited to stag do, but only wedding reception (not ceremony)?

Posted by YpowT@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 127 comments

vestibulepike@reddit

I would personally be offended. I’m a good enough friend to go on the stag, but not close enough to actually witness you getting married? My position is that - regardless of how dry and dusty it may be for others - the most important part of a wedding and the bit I want to be there for is the actual moment of marriage. I would not go to a wedding where I was only invited to a reception.

I'm married and have a son. We're hoarders. My home needs clearing and it's overwhelming. Is it worth getting in professionals? How discreet are they?

I didn’t notice anything in South Korea, but I am a Brit with terrible spatial awareness. So I just bumped and tripped over people with everyone else.
