What is your most middle-class problem today?

What is your most middle-class / first-world whinge?
Mine is that the price of tahini has rocketed and I’ve had to buy some sesame seeds to make my own. FFS.
Wonderful-Bonus5439@reddit
My cleaner took the tape off the floor that I use as a marker for where I stand to play darts
Crackles2020@reddit
That's definitely a working class problem to be fair. Have you got a mullet?
Wonderful-Bonus5439@reddit
Not yet, but I have been contemplating a new hairstyle…
NorthCountryLass@reddit
Omg! A sacking offence for sure! Or you could offer him/her a cup of tea

Our cleaner thoroughly washed all of our kids’ height marks and dates off the doorframe
CaptainParkingspace@reddit
Going to need new kids now.

You should do this anyway. If you swap them out regularly, they stay small and cute without becoming twatty teenagers.

Might need a new wife for the new kids. Cleaner is totally unaware of the problems in your life they have caused 😊
boojes@reddit
Nooooooo.
johnbobk@reddit
My partner did some painting and very carefully kept the batton she had removed from the wall with the grand children's heights from when they were young. Proudly showed me how careful she had preserved it; only problem no reference point where to put it back 😂
Not-That_Girl@reddit
My cleaner 'tidied' up my cleaning supplies, which for some reason meant moving my shower gel (inappropriate soap pump despenser so I get that its confusing) into the BACK of the kitchen cabinet. I didnt find it for hours.
antimathematician@reddit
Ours likes to put everything from our shower in the cupboard. So at least once each per week, we have to yell for the other to retrieve soap/shampoo/razor etc as we never remember to check 😂
Aggressive_Library49@reddit
Some ideas.
Cut string to length and unroll when needed. Blue tack the anchor end to the skirting.
A stick works too, lean against side of board when not needed.
Move to garage.
Get cleaner to lie on the floor at correct distance.
Lady-of-Shivershale@reddit
I think cleaners get a kick out of this stuff. Products in the bathroom are never where they were before.
cheandbis@reddit
I'd have not been oche with that either
SterlingArcher68@reddit
Having only ever heard that word and having no recollection of ever seeing it written down. You could have given me 10 guesses to spell oche and I wouldn’t have got close.
cheandbis@reddit
To be fair, I did Google it before I pressed 'post' just to be sure!

marshallandy83@reddit
Exactly what I was gonna say.
Had a similar class juxtaposition the other day when I saw a pheasant at the allotment.
The balance was slightly redressed the next day when the pheasant was joined by a second one and they were fighting.
Dedward5@reddit
Exactly, only 1 step away from “‘my butler forgot to order food for my ferrets”
missuseme@reddit
Years ago at work we had a firm moving a bunch of furniture into one our empty office floors. I had planned it all out and marked with different coloured tape on the floor where everything should go. So all they'd need to do was if there was blue tape, put a cabinet there, red tape put a desk there etc.
Then I came in the morning with the furniture people and the cleaner had cleaned up all my tape markings :(
blueroses8000@reddit
For my dissertation project I had a presentation set up that I worked all year on. The cleaner “cleaned up” some of the elements overnight which were part of the presentation.
musicallymotivated93@reddit
You need a raised oche. 2 holes drilled in the floor, a block of timber, and 2 bolts sticking through to use as guide pins.
pip_goes_pop@reddit
Get yourself a laser oche instead, no tape required then!
Ok-Blackberry-3534@reddit
Thanks. Now I have to spend more money...
EUskeptik@reddit
You could claw some back by not employing a cleaner.

We were away on holiday but the cleaner was still coming in weekly to do some deep cleaning. She erased my son's childish drawings from when he was a toddler from one of the cupboards which I was saving out of nostalgia. 😭

Plugged_in_Baby@reddit
We get a kilo bag from Löfberg (Swedish roasters) for 17 quid. Stocked in most Waitrose and large Sainsbury’s stores.
antimathematician@reddit
Oo thank you - we’ve been looking for a lavazza alternative without going broke on beans
MissionFig5582@reddit
Ta - I do use it sometimes. It isn't a local roastery though, which is what I meant. It's mass produced and was probably roasted 6 months ago (but it isn't horrendous!).
thescamperinghamster@reddit
I've just moved to those ones as they seem the best deal, and super tasty too

The rising cost of beans worked in my favour as it has lowered how much coffee I drink.
Would rather pay more for better beans and drink less than buy beans I don’t like.

I think with basically any title that could be regulated by multiple bodies (ie because there are different types of engineers) it fails to be protected in the UK. It can be quite silly, how excessively used the title engineer is.

Any regulatory body that comes under the engineering council should be protected imo

Ocado have stopped doing 5 for £10 on frozen berries and I'm not paying £3.10 per bag - so no frozen berries for me.
peculiar-pirate@reddit
My equivelent to that problem is that Sainsbury's always has ran out of frozen blueberries when I go there, and I like frozen blueberries with my cereal :(
BorderlineWire@reddit
My extractor hood and cupboard came off the wall due to a water leak my letting agent ignored. It took out a good chunk of stuff on and around the cooker and continues to take up a lot of room.
I ordered stuff from Ocado but instead of the air fryer friendly items requested I got frozen berries. I can’t use the frozen berries. I could make an air fryer crumble but I don’t like crumble.

Yes, both my local Asda and Lidl haven't had frozen cherries in for months but Farmfoods has a much wider selection of frozen fruits than both of them anyway, and at just £3 for one, £6 for two or £10 for six. I currently have cherries and lychees in the freezer.

I can afford luxury clothes. (non-garish logo stuff)
But I never wear them because I don't go to 'fancy rich people places' I'm terrified someone will say 'that nice where's it from' and I have to turn round and say Louis Vuitton. (Also i'm not 'rich', i'm just childless with a good job)
Id look like such an AH.
So they just sit in my wardrobe, and occasionally come on holiday with me.
ArmchairAnarchist00@reddit
Just tell them ‘oh I got it online’ or ‘bought it from Next’. ????
Worldly_Wafer_6635@reddit
Yeah, no, I could, but it just makes me very self-conscious, though. I'd fear what if someone notices and then start make a big deal out of it, I'd want the ground to swallow me up.
Which is wild because they are supposed to have the opposite effect.
(My environment, wearing 'luxury' fast fashion is normal, with some permanent collection is normal, i.e., wallets, belts, hats, sunglasses, branded hoodies or Ts, some handbags. But wearing actual ready-to-wear is very, very rare)
(And the reason I buy it is just that I love high-end clothing; my degree is in fashion design, so my desire to purchase is genuinely because I see it as art, not for status.)
Betweentheminds@reddit
With Vinted and similar a lot more people are getting brands without being rich (and dupes, whether intentionally or not 😬). So I’d say if you want to, wear your labels with pride and work out if it’s actually something anyone picks up on.

We have a Rayburn (like an Aga, but less elite) that came with the house and which acts as our water heater during the Autumn-late Spring period. It also provides a low level background heat so we don't have to use our central heating as much.
However, it runs on domestic heating oil and the monitor keeps flashing at us to refill but the prices are sky-high. We are probably going to have to turn it off early rather than pay through the nose for the oil, but that means having to rely on an immersion heater for hot water which is also expensive. We have an electric shower and a dishwasher so we'll only need hot water for minimal washing up, wiping the kitchen counters etc., but still.

If the rocketing price of tahini means less of it in shop-bought hummus then it’s a good thing.

On paper I have a brilliant life as I have enough money for a home and to solve lots of problems (not massive earnings) with work from home meaning no commuting costs plus the gains of all that time. But my god does the brain drift from it being something past you would have envied to a drag that becomes more and more mentally crushing. An old friend of mine lives from week to week an something going wrong can take him a year to dig his way out of plus jobs at the bottom of the labour market have you far more supervised and controlled (and frankly subject to horrid conditions) vs me who can disappear out to the dentist for an hour whenever.
