Interestingly 5’10 was the *maximum* height for many NASA missions including Mercury, Apollo the max height was 5’11, the ideal target was 5’3 but they didn’t have otherwise ideal candidates small enough. They mostly want to minimize astronaut size and be able to design smaller cockpits.

It’s long been assumed that when we do manned Mars missions they’ll use women astronauts over men, because their smaller size and lower food, water and oxygen requirements become big long-term advantages, and because the inevitable body degradation that occurs in microgravity appears to happen significantly more slowly in women. Most of the metrics give them a 20-30% advantage.

Will life will ever go back to being more affordable or are we stuck in a more expensive loop?

Less than one percent of companies are publicly traded and only around 20% of the global economy goes through publicly traded companies. Only around 10% of shares in publicly traded companies are owned by pension funds.

Rumours or stories about your school teachers that were true?

Long running rumour that the PE teacher was a paedophile. Had the stereotypical glasses and loved to pat everyone on the back and rub their shoulders but every time someone repeated the rumour and got overheard they were punished. Even had the admin come into classes and lecture us about how cruel it was to gossip and make up lies about serious things like this. His daughter reported him for rape and when his home was searched they found a box full of SD cards in his desk, full of videos he’d secretly filmed of students going to the toilet.

Think of it this way, surgery is always risky so wouldn’t you prefer it if a surgeon operating on your spouse or child or parent practiced for it on actual human bodies first? Training on cadavers means surgeons have more real-world experience when they go to perform it on the living. That can save lives, surgeries go wrong all the time and one reason is that it’s hard to practice for them safely.

Outdated doesn’t mean unpopular, I think part of its popularity is *because* it’s outdated. It’s steeped in nostalgia and tradition, for many people the appeal is that it’s been a show they’ve been watching on appointment since they were kids, enjoyed with similar ritual as the things you watch every Christmas. If it *weren’t* outdated, and the concept would be just as successful launched today, we’d probably be able to think of one other remotely successful show using the format from the last 20 years. The sketches do get solid viewership. But I t’s worth nothing that the most popular ones of the last 25 years are by far the pre-recorded ones that debut online and not as part of the live show. I’m on a Boat, Dick in a Box, Lazy Sunday, I Just Had Sex, the OC “watcha say” parody, etc. They regularly got triple the first-day ratings of the live show even going back 20 years.

The reviews from its release are more entertaining than the movie. Roger Ebert’s opens with the line “Battlefield Earth is like taking a bus trip with someone who has needed a bath for a long time” and then gets harsh. > Jonnie Goodboy figures out a way to avoid slave labor in the gold mines. He and his men simply go to Fort Knox, break in and steal gold. Of course it’s been waiting there for 1,000 years. What Terl says when his slaves hand him smelted bars of gold is beyond explanation.

I have a coworker who changed his name from Cockhead not because of teasing but because websites and bookings kept rejecting his name. One thing would let the online form submit so he called and they hung up on him.

Drones designed to collect your nut and transport the genetic load to a consenting female for reproductive purposes. The drone delivers the load via a mechanical apparatus shaped like a large penis, used solely for insemination. Intended for environments where direct human contact is not feasible.

That actually serves a purpose because the nanobot helps a sperm with low motility (ability to swim) get to the egg. The motility of sperm isn’t correlated to their genetic health, you can have sperm that would make a perfectly healthy baby because the genes the contain are fine, but which just can’t swim, just a failure of the delivery mechanism. OP’s idea doesn’t serve a purpose because if you’re alone in an isolated environment with zero human contact then you’re not in an environment where you should be having a baby. Who is this for, a lighthouse keeper in Antarctica who really wants to be a mother right now and is happy to go through the pregnancy and give birth alone with no medical care?
