Rumours or stories about your school teachers that were true?

Some of us probably heard rumours or stories about one of our teachers, at least in our lifetime. If something happens inside or outside the school, it. What was the rumour or story about any of your teachers that was true in the end
Mine was my best friend's former year two teacher. That was over 30 years ago, and I am still in contact with him today. He said that his mom and nan once saw him in a gay nightclub licking another man's throat. I never had him as a teacher, as he left, I was in a reception class. I saw him in assembly as he played the piano. I think he was only there for a year and a half, but it's many years later, he mentioned it to me as we were memorising about school and teachers.

We had a very attractive female teacher in high school. There were rumours that she was lesbian and had a girlfriend.
She went through an awful breakup; crying in her classroom cupboard and everything. And then her ex-girlfriend published some very compromising pictures on the school’s Facebook page.
She genuinely had to move schools. Felt incredibly sorry for her.
aaarry@reddit
I’m sure there will be some funny ones on here but this is sad and has genuinely ruined my evening, cheers.
tannercolin@reddit
Same man. I had a lesbian pe teacher and she was such a lovely human being. I'm imagining it is her and yeah, fuck that horrible ex. People can be so cruel
YchYFi@reddit
Had a lesbian P.E teacher too.
Unfortunately died about 10 years after I finished school of cancer. So young.
Illustrious-Bus-8862@reddit
Did anyone have a straight PE teacher?
runforseven@reddit
We had one that was done for illicit relations with a student in the pe cupboard. Now I think about, I think my high school may had been problematic…
Moomoocaboob@reddit
Miss Harris by any chance?
YchYFi@reddit
No but this was Wales.
runforseven@reddit
Yea, I remember everyone feeling sorry for her. Could have ruined her career.
Lopsided_Snower@reddit
Must have made the papers / news that? Was she arrested?
runforseven@reddit
Was before the days of revenge porn being a crime, and I think it was kept very hush hush - probably so that she was able to go and teach elsewhere in hindsight.
Lopsided_Snower@reddit
Seems crazy that was only made illegal in 2015
HelikosOG@reddit
We had a similar situation, any chance this happened in the Midlands?
runforseven@reddit
No! Must have happened to more than one!
throughthewoods4@reddit
Was just thinking the same haha. I had a teacher in mind and she was great. Looking back, paid an unnerving level of attention to a particular female student where she used to go a bit red and flustered, but nothing overly inappropriate.
jovial_rebel@reddit
That is absolutely horrendous.

There was a pe teacher at my secondary school who all the mums fancied and I guess if we were a bit older probably would have as well. There was a rumour he left his previous teaching position because he had a relationship with a 6th former. None of us knew the truth but then my sister who was at Leeds uni (we live 2h south of Leeds), had a boyfriend who was born and raised in Leeds. He was talking to my parents one day about this teacher who had to leave because he had a relationship with a 6th former. When he described him we realised it was the same person... What are the chances. Being about 12/13 at the time my friends and I thought it would be hilarious to ask him did he used to work in Leeds. He went bright red and was very quiet.
Left_Set_5916@reddit
I believe having a relationship with a 6 former is still illegal as a teacher.
phatboi23@reddit
yup, classed as a power imbalance.
sailors_jerry@reddit
PIPOT law. Person In a Position of Power.
knockinonevansdoor@reddit
Not necessarily illegal in the sense of being prosecutable, but illegal in being unacceptable in a teacher/student context. You won’t find another job in teaching after being found guilty of diddling 6th Formers.
Garth-Vega@reddit
Same for Russell brand?
matbur81@reddit
Absolutely!
insomnimax_99@reddit
I believe the age of consent increases to 18 when one party is an adult in a position of responsibility over the other.
limpingdba@reddit
You can be in sixth form and 18 or older.
iusedtobeatwink@reddit
It's about the power dynamic and individual circumstances.
franki-pinks@reddit
There was a lad in my year who was very obviously shagging one of the teachers and as soon as we left sixth form they became official with her even coming to a house party with him the day after we took our last exam.
Cheap-Vegetable-4317@reddit
There was a chap wrote a memoir about this quite recently. It's about how it fucked up his whole life. They were unhappily married for about 15 years before he realised it was abuse.
franki-pinks@reddit
These two didn’t last long they had split up by the time he went uni thankfully
smudgethomas@reddit
That law changed in the late 2000s. One of my PE teachers was very sad when that happened
NoteJunior1815@reddit
I'm 30. So it was after 2004 I was being taught by him. Although it may have been before 2004 he had the relationship.
Jagermeister_UK@reddit
My PE teacher molested a 13 year old. No charges. Just moved on.
audigex@reddit
It's been illegal since 2004 if the student is 16 or 17
It's legal regardless if the student is over 18, and it wasn't illegal until 2004 (the law was passed in 2003, but didn't come into force immediately
So the question here would be how old the parent commenter is
Lopsided_Snower@reddit
I think I may have known this teacher… did this happen 2005-7ish maybe?
Youstinkeryou@reddit
Happened in my school in Newcastle. Also a pe teacher and a sixth former. He didn’t have to leave and they eventually got married and are still together 25 y later
heartpassenger@reddit
Happened at my school in Newcastle too! Was it in Fenham?
Youstinkeryou@reddit

NoteJunior1815@reddit
Why is it always the pe teachers
heroics-delta8s@reddit
There was a time when sixth formers were fair game for teachers, frowned upon a little, but not much more.
pr0ph3t_0f_m3rcy@reddit
I went out with a girl at uni that said younger teachers and older kids from her school (in a very small fishing village in Scotland) often partied together.
Like it wouldn't be unusual to turn up at your mates and see a student sat on a teacher's lap. I'm confident a teacher at my school (SE England) would have gone missing for that.
Interesting-Fan5822@reddit
Two of our PE teachers were caught fucking in a classroom by a student. The story made it into the sun newspaper Circa 1996
MamaMiaow@reddit
Oh gosh yes. Similar thing at our school in the 90s was reported on in the Sun - an IT teacher and another faculty member.
DustTechnical4561@reddit
our PE teacher (female) was almost certainly - and this was always the rumour - shagging at least one of the younger male teachers, and probably another one.
Holska@reddit
I feel like that the 2 PE teacher situation is almost universal. At my school, they had an oops baby together. The female teacher had form for asking anyone who skipped swimming if they knew what a tampon was, and someone got excluded for asking her if she knew what a condom was in reply.
smudgethomas@reddit
They should have got a round of applause.

Ex POW be-gowned former German teacher now Headmaster, allegedly 're-allocated' hard won School minibus Fund while, serendipitously enjoying the very deep pile shag of a new carpet throughout his otherwise bare office, where in full view of pupils he could be observed sleeping on his desk, while the souvenir collection of volumes in Gothic script containing the works of Goethe et al, gathered dust unread on their glass shelves. It transpired, once the first ever German speaking assistant arrived, that she could detect no German in him, beyond the daily commands of his former guards. The gown was also therefore another affectation to which he was not entitled.
PE / 'Pastoral' Tutor at same establishment was a roaring drunk rugger-bugger, frequently to be found after dark falling over inebriated, seen providing morning lifts to school for an under 16 yr old female pupil, who it transpired was at very least sharing his house if not his bed.

Male teachers gathering in 'staff room/lab classroom', collectively inspecting confiscated porno mags for notorious appearance by local allegedly post 16 model, a pupil at the school.
Said group of pervs mounted guard outside 6th Form study room which had a door inset with a window, occasionally casting long looks inside dark interior to check on health and safety of lower sixth, short-house rugby-rucker of alleged notorious stud repute, entertaining a fellow female pupil on the floor and desks for the entire duration of a sixth-form inter-school socialising event.
Well endowed unmarried female Sixth-form tutor spent holiday topless on a beach and lessless in a tent with boyfriend and canoodling pair of sixth form pupils at notorious libertine continental resort; male of said étudiantes boasting on return of the joys of oral sex, and foursomes..

Science teacher was a drag queen on the weekends and his stage name was Wilma slag and someone found a photo of him in drag and posted it all round the school. He took it on the chin and continued teaching. He was an alright teacher tbf.

Pastrel(pastrol?) manager. Basically security for the academy I attended. Rumors about him being ex special forces and retired undercover agent.
Couple situations with him where he always seemed to defy logic and possibility to catch me being unruly child I was.
Turns out he was ex forces. And actually new my grandad. They didn't serve in same regiment but was the same time and served tours together in Africa. Never denied or confirmed rumors about him being sas, but he was certified hard scary. With a highly active military career of 10 years. With very little record or history of his service. Still reckon he was ex sas. Guy was pushing 70. Legit tank, could put run. Outsmart and out maneuver every goddam time

Similar story at my primary school. A school govenor was rumoured to be having an affair with one of the junior teachers. Turned out to be true. It broke up both marriages, and I think they moved in together. It was awful because the govenor lived close to my house, and my mum and his wife were good friends. I also think my sister and their daughter were in the Junior teacher's class. I remember the wife of the governor converted to being a JW., and both of the culprits were instructed to leave the school.

Genuinely read this as he was now in a relation with his ex wife’s father (ie his ex father in law). That would have been incredibly awkward for all
DNBassist89@reddit

jeremiah9292@reddit
No I don’t think so, it’s the teaching assistants father he was cheating with, not the wife teachers father?

Wh...why were his mum and nan in a gay club together...?
rwinh@reddit
I'd have loved to have taken my nan to a gay club! She was always popular with my friends as she was very enlightened and open minded. She had a very live and let live attitude. That said, she used to use the word queer to mean strange and said it very often in conversation.
I can picture her sat with a bitter shandy, observing everything going on and using that word correctly in both contexts. She'd have been very popular (and rightly so).
No-Extension-2378@reddit
One of the last conversations I had with my nan before she passed was her saying she wanted me to be happy, "wether that's with a man or a woman" - I was 18, never spoken to anyone about being bi. She was a cracking old girl, she always knew more than she'd been told.
SeasonReasonable4282@reddit
My daughter came out as Bi, I just said, "That's being greedy, doubling your chances of a date on Saturday night."
Wearethedevil@reddit
Have you never been in a gay club? They are fucking EPIC! Me, my mum, my cousin and all our lady friends loved going there because you wouldn't get hit on by men... Ladies, yes, but I'm gay so that's fine with me. Women aren't as scary to say "no" to.
Bright_Arm8782@reddit

inevitable-betrayal@reddit
And yet the gay men arent safe if those exact women are spreading gossip about the mens activities within the gay bar, sounds more like a gay zoo where the gays are being watched and judged.
JohnLennonsNotDead@reddit
Touche, me (straight) and straight mates of mine go to gay bars in Liverpool now and again as there’s never any trouble and always an absolute belter of a night, plus there’s always girls there haha.
smudgethomas@reddit
Yeah and this is why gay people complain about straights in their spaces.
MDL1983@reddit
Oh I forgot we live in a segregated society
breadcrumbedanything@reddit
If straight people didn’t behave the way they do then gay people wouldn’t be trying to get away from them. A lot of groups of women come to gay bars on their nights out because it’s the only place they don’t get harassed by men. When the straight men realise this and follow them in there then it loses its advantage for those women too. I’ve had a lot of discussions with people about whether we should even let them in in the first place. But when you get to the point that those straight men react badly to being hit on by gay men then something has gone quite wrong and it’s not a gay bar anymore.
ZookeepergameBorn394@reddit
I’ve had this conversation with gay friends, who struggle to see how a gay bar would stay open in today’s economy without any straight people.
Most of hospitality is being hit by minimum wage, tax, rent, running costs like utilities, stock increases.
As long as people are respectful and mindful and having fun it’s okay by them. Obviously they don’t speak for all queer people but neither do you.
breadcrumbedanything@reddit
Depends on the size of the city and the number of gay bars. As long as you’re not spreading the gay population too thin a place can survive fine on just gay people. I’ve been to gay bars where the bouncers interrogated us on the door to check we weren’t straight.
JohnLennonsNotDead@reddit
So this works the other way around then?

There were always rumours about the female Physics teacher and the male Chemistry teacher. A few years after I left, some Media Studies students were using the school camcorder for a project. There was a tape in the camcorder...which featured a particularly energetic sex session taking place in the gym, featuring the aforementioned teachers...that story ended up on the front page of The Sun and is featured on the school's Wikipedia page.
Hungry_Living766@reddit
Was looking for this. I was one of the four kids that found the tape initially. We were filming an ‘advert’ for ‘Naffco Jeans’ as part of ‘a new initiative called ‘industrial week’. The Chemistry teacher (Mr P) gave us the school camcorder, told us there’s a tape in it and just record from there. Next morning we wheeled the big TV into the Chemistry classroom, where a gas fitter was repairing the Bunsen burners. I wound the tape back too far and it just had the gym bars on screen. We fast forwarded it and two people entered the scene. It slowly dawned on us what was happening, one of the lads loudly shouts ‘its Mr P and Mrs M having sex!’ The gas fitter went to leap up from under the desk and walloped his head. He told us we had gold dust and to get it to the papers. The lad that sold the story, I believe, hadn’t actually seen the video. I’ve been dining out on the story for years, glad to carry it on.
InterestingPolicy496@reddit
Brilliant, I’d often wondered how it was discovered.
There were rumours that it existed about 2 1/2 years earlier when I was in the lower 6th One of the lads in the upper 6th told us about it though he hadn’t seen it himself. and a group of us tried to track it down but we didn’t look in the camcorder!!
Hungry_Living766@reddit
We tried to get a copy made, a lad lived in the road adjacent to the school, as he was legging out of the school a lab tech ripped it out of his hand and gave it to Mr P. He went to look at the contents in the dark room and emerged 10mins later looking ashen. They then had a big conference in the staff room and called an emergency assembly asking that it was kept private as it would be damaging if the press found out. It was an amazing week!
WrekTheHead@reddit
No wonder he said 'just record from there'!
InterestingPolicy496@reddit
Remember this well as the story broke towards the end of my first year at Uni. I remember seeing the headline throughout the day but it was only in the evening that I picked up a paper in the common room and… “bloody hell, this was my old school!”
It was well known that they were at it. I used to play rugby with his son and on a drunken tour to Wales, one of my team mates went up to the son “do you know your Dad is having an affair with Miss Morgan?”
On the day the story broke, according to my brother who was still at the school, the blackboard outside the pub next to the school said something like “Tough day at the gym? Come in for a jug of Pimms.”
Several years later, as the school was preparing for an open evening, a senior teacher, who was there when the story broke, walked into the same gym to find that a new member of staff had tied several school ties to the wall bars. He suggested that they be taken down immediately as said video also involved school ties and wall bars!!

Yeeeah, I was the reason our school banned trips abroad for a while. Ironically, I later worked in employment law for schools, which involved lots of sacking teachers for inappropriate relationships.

Bambi_H@reddit
Oh, I know that now. At the time, not so much.
rusticusmus@reddit
If you’re saying the trips were banned due to an inappropriate relationship, you’re not the reason - the teacher who took advantage of you is. I hope you don’t feel to blame for that.
Bambi_H@reddit
Thank you - I know that now, but it was a very weird time. I think working with schools to deal with people like him was my therapy.

That Mr Stewart was gay! He was. He hid it (badly) for YEARS and came out when he retired. Have seen him and his partner around town since and he’s doing really well. I wish we could go back in time and he could have lived his truth at school instead of taking us to Starlight Express every year for our house trip. Still, a lovely man.
ibiacmbyww@reddit
There was a drama teacher at my school who also, uhhh... "loved Starlight Express". Nobody batted an eye, he was so camp it was beyond rumour, so we just got on with things. Even teenage boys can only get so much mileage out of there being an unrepentantly gay teacher around.
Imagine our surprise when, on a sixth form trip, he was seen in the darkest, furthest corner of our local bar with a new woman every evening! The nickname Old Shagger quickly arose, and I'm told (by a childhood friend's kid) people still call him it now, 15 years later, although perhaps not in polite company.

We had a long term pair of married teachers at my school, with shared surnames. However, it turned out in the time I was at school they'd divorced and she got remarried but kept her former using name at school. I was in year 10 when the rumour of this spread and all the teachers denied it for the following years. Presumably to avoid drama and rumours, but this denyal just made it worse. Then I see in my 2nd year of uni she joined another school but was going under her new surname.
BlueHornedUnicorn@reddit
One of the "young crowd" (13yo) had made rumours that he was sleeping with a very attractive married female teacher. Told people she had been round to his house, his parents knew and were okay with it, etc etc. of course NO-ONE believed him.
Turned out it was true, every single word of it.

Mr Body, a Primary school in Northwest England. He used to have kids sat on his knee, used to join the boys in the male locker room when we went swimming and all getting changed etc. Many a preteen insult between ourselves that he was watching and a pedo....
One of the lunch ladies noticed he had a y5 (so 9 year old) girl sat on his lap one dinner time consoling her when she'd fell and thought he seemed too weird about it and reported to Head.
Resulted in Police ending up searching his home and the classroom and finding cameras, hard drives and Piddy Korn all over.
He was sent to prison a few years, then my little sister was still at the school when there then was a letter sent out that he'd been seen hanging around the area once he was released.

Not exactly a rumour, but in primary school we had a piano teacher that none of the parents liked for some reason. They were always talking about him and being off about him in general, and I never understood why. He seemed nice, and although I didn’t stick with it I thought he was a great piano teacher.
One day as an adult I was talking with my mum about our primary school teachers and she revealed to me that he was a trans man. I had no idea as a kid, I think back then I was too young to catch on to anything like that. But this would have been the early 2000s in a rural English village so of course there sadly would have been blatant transphobia
I have no idea what he’s up to now but I do hope he’s well

Back in 1961 in my first year in secondly school there was one teacher who was supposedly gay and a humanist. I didn't really know what either word meant at age 11 but nodded seriously.

When we started at school, we were told one of the history teachers had been in a car accident in South Africa and wouldn’t be back for the start of the school year because of it.
The truth was the year before she was caught having an affair (her husband also worked at the school) with the PE teacher, they were caught by another student. She and the PE teacher was therefore suspended for a year before they came back in my second year as a couple.
The ex-husband went on to marry ANOTHER history teacher who joined to cover for the ex-wife while she was ‘recovering from her accident’. The French teacher also had a MASSIVE crush on the ex-husband too.

There was a rumour that 2 of the PE teachers were getting it on - both young and single.
One day I went to the equipment cupboard in the Sports Pavilion and caught them 😂 I didn't say anything and didn't tell anyone, they didn't say anything to me afterwards.
That was about 30 years ago, I recently searched their names and found them still together and living on the other side of the world. Looks like they've made a lovely family ♥️

We had a chemistry teacher, we'll call him Mr Moleface, who was a bit weird. Geeky, harmless-looking, overly friendly. One of the rumours/jokes about him was that he'd "get" students that went in his classroom cupboard (this was around 2009, and we were all 15/16ish). Moleface's Cupboard was joked about like it was the chokey.
It turned out Mr Moleface had a 2 year relationship with one of his students from when she was 14 to when she was 16, and his cupboard had been one of their rendezvous points.

Female maths teacher was fucking at least two underage male students. Chatted with them through, and this will age me... Words With Friends. The students were in my class. One of them was especially young-seeming, definitely underdeveloped physically and probably mentally as well. I just assumed she was being especially nurturing to them as she was very soft with them in class and would sometimes lightly touch them, but no, she was fully engaged in sexual relationships with them at the time. I mentioned that she pet my hair lightly one time (I am female, this is the only physical contact I ever had with her, it did seem very casual and innocent at the time and I still don't consider it to have crossed any lines) and when I told my dad he lost his mind. Also she never wore deoderent.

Married chemistry teacher was having a thing with the (unmarried? Idk) history teacher. I saw them canoodling in (his? Her?) car once.
This was interesting to me not because of them being teachers, or married/query unmarried, but because he was very proper - three-piece suits, handmade Italian leather shoes, and yes, I noticed that shit and still do - and she was very goth, a little plump, purple lipstick and hair, and purple and black clothes and ripped tights. And I looked at them and kinda went, hmm, I could date anyone I like. Which was a revelation to a kid who grew up in cliquey 80s and 90s California and then elitist 90s Hertfordshire, where you stay in your own lane and stick to the status quo or whatever BS my generation taught.

It was an RE teacher at my school - he taught my class for a while, but everyone hated him as he was strict, miserable and gave off an odd vibe. He stopped coming in and the police were spotted on site, which got the rumour mill started among the students (there were a few variations on it, but one thing in common across them was an apparently keen interest in the netball teams)- and then the local weekly paper had a story about him in it which confirmed it.
The school library would get all the papers in, but for some reason that particular story was clipped out (which didn’t do much, as someone brought in their copy from home and put photocopies of it all around)

We had a teacher in GCSE years - so I’d have been 14/15. He used to take one of our classmates to and from school.
It was mentioned. He explained it away as he was very close friends with this girl’s parents and was seen as an ‘uncle’ and there was nothing in it. She said the same but in the end they were told it was inappropriate for him to take her to and from school. They agreed and that was that.
It never really left him though, he was seen as this like ‘paedo’ teacher. Anyway, he ended up getting into a relationship with her younger sister and getting her pregnant when she was 15 and still and school and he was 41.
As far as I know, they’re still together now.

I don't know if it was a rumour at her school at first, but I saw a video podcast interview with Katherine Ryan. She said her stepdad, "Abe the Babe", is about 7 years older than her, and 18 years younger than her mother, and that he had just graduated from Katherine's school, and dumped the most popular girl in school for her (Katherine's) mother.
Rumours in my school?
Only the last one can be verified as true. The others I'm not sure of and are rumours.
One (my brother-in-law-to-be's cousin who's a few years older than me told me this; BIL to be, BIL's brother, his cousin and myself all went to the same school) that an (un-named) teacher had an affair with a pupil.
Two: two of the teachers at my school had an affair.
Three: One of my teachers had a boob job (not very exciting I know lol - I mean one of my friends had to have a boob reduction as they were giving her back pain etc - but it was exciting to me when I found out like 7 years ago my BIL to be went to my school and left about 8 years before me, and I started getting the goss)
Four: I don't remember this being a rumour when I was there but it turned out the skeleton in the biology department was an actual human skeleton of an Indian woman. They eventually gave it a funeral last year after spending 3 years trying to negotiate it (recent ish rule changes meant schools had to put older human skeletons - before they changed to plastic ones - in storage. The article also said among former alumni it was a bit of an open secret they used to have bones in the corridors in boxes but I personally never heard that)
Five: one of my teachers was gay. This I can confirm is true (and in the nicest way possible, I don't give a shit. Like he's gay, so what? A couple my teachers are) Still not quite sure if the person decided to start a rumour that my teacher was gay and it coincidentally happened to be true, or if the person somehow knew and leaked it.
I know it's true as when I was in Year 7, think it might have been a Thursday morning (forgive me, this was 15 years ago!) I was walking between lessons with a friend of mine, and she had heard a rumour that so-and- so was gay, and she decided to go find him and ask him!
And he just said "yes I am"
I look back on the incident now with mixed feelings; I feel awkward that if he was closeted and it was just a rumour, we could have put him in an uncomfortable situation.

Rumour for about a year was that one of the technology teachers was cheating on his wife with one of the students and the PE teacher was helping him!
This turned out to be a conflation of rumours.
One of the married technology teachers was indeed cheating on his wife - with the also married PE teacher! A whole lotta surnames changed one summer about a year after the rumour started! Mr D (technology) and Mrs D (art teacher) became Mr D and Ms G. Mr P (geography) and Mrs P (PE) became Mr P and Mrs D!
That was the Fun Scandal.
Now the less fun half, a fifth former (aged 15) had been kicked out by her abusive parents and the PE teacher (who started out Mrs P and ended up Mrs D) took her in so she could finish her school year and take her GCSEs. The PE teacher lived down the road from Mr S, another technology teacher who was doing his teaching qualification in our school (so in his early 20s). The fifth former turned 16 and applied for Sixth Form asking Mrs D if she could stay with her for her A-Levels. Yes of course she could - BUT no boys over. So she moved out before Christmas to live with Mr S AS HIS GIRLFRIEND. He claimed he'd not touched her until she was 16 and since he'd never taught her it was fine! She said they'd been in love since he joined the school (when she was a fourth year so 14!)
She kept going to sixth form and got her ALevels and he taught in the school until the end of his contract.
This was all pre-2003 so all legal - unless they did have sex before she turned 16! The headteacher did not renew his contract though!
Firthy2002@reddit

He wasn't a teacher, he was a Reverend at the local methodist chapel but the story is so bizarre I have to share it.
This was in the 1980s. There were rumours that the Reverend was sending poisoned pen letters and that he had awful pornography in his house. The police were investigating him for the pen letters and got into his house to search it. What they found were body parts in his fridge that he had taken from bodies for the funerals he was conducting. He was hoarding penises and nipples and putting them in jars.
It was national front page news. He was sent to prison and no one in the town ever spoke of it again. A couple of years ago there was a true crime documentary about him on Amazon prime.
Like I said, not a teacher but I hope it counts.

In Primary School we had the "teachers live in the school" thing that everyone believed. Only, one of ours was actually living in one of the supply cupboards. He had a roll up sleeping bag, his shaving kit, mini TV and big old box of Stella Artios which he was presumably slurping.
We also had a supply teacher who had been "kissing all the lady teachers". Which was certainly true, but he did a bit more than that with them in the car park at lunch times. That all ended when 5 sets of husbands/boyfriends rolled up at the same time and Mr.Moore hopped over the furthest fence and ran away from them, never to be seen again.
Around years 5/6 we had a pair of "artists" who were living in one of the schools disused classrooms and had converted it to a studio. Never found out what the deal with that one was.

One day he took the back lanes because of heavy traffic, one of the lads queried it, and he said with a straight face: “Oh, I often like to go in the back way.”.
For the rest of school we wondered if he was taking the piss … of course he was! Not only was it funny, it was a joke we’d all only get about 10 years later.

When I started secondary school, a rumour was passed down from the years above to us new kids that a former headmaster of the school from 25-odd years earlier had been ‘murdered by rent boys’. This was an unusually specific rumour that somehow everyone was vaguely aware of and would be passed to incoming year 7s and occasionally joked about, but there was no real reason to believe it and nobody knew the background.
It wasn’t until years later that I was in a deep late night YouTube rabbit hole, and came across a story about the first ever crime that was solved with the help of the TV show Crime Watch in the UK. The story goes that a headmaster of a school was found dead in his home, with some of his possessions having been burgled and missing from his house. One of the possessions was a TV. On the episode of Crime Watch, the presenter said ‘if you at home have recently bought a TV, check the serial number on the back right now - if it matches the following number, call the police, as you likely bought the TV off the murderer’. Anyway an old woman was watching Crime Watch, checked the serial number of the TV she was watching it on, it matched the number on screen, she called the police, and they eventually caught two young men who had been rent boys and had murdered the man in his home before stealing the TV (likely because he had had trouble paying them). That man was the old headmaster of my school. The rumour was confirmed to be true literally decades after it all happened. Somehow that story had continued to be passed from boy to boy down the years to the point where no one new the story behind it, and I just happened to come across it.

Nerdy maths teacher who runs the school’s IT infrastructure gets caught with the French language assistant in an empty classroom by none other than his son, who also attends the school. When faced with the sack threatens to destroy the IT systems, so is instead given a 2 year sabbatical.
First class back upon return from sabbatical a student renowned for their high intellect but low social skills puts up their hand and when called upon asks “sir is it true you anally fisted a language assistant in a cupboard?”. The teacher reportedly just gives a little “ahem” and then carries on with the lesson without any further discussion.

My head of year for a number of years, a rather young woman at the time, was rumored to be in a relationship with the much older (as in he looked old for his age maybe 50+ to her late 20's/ early 30's) maths teacher.
I completely forgot about this being a thing until I tried teaching 3 years after I graduated and did a stint at a different school I was training at. Head of year lady was now head teacher of a neighbouring school to where I went and she casually mentioned she had married him. We had a lovely couple of hours bitching about students and teachers we hated at the school we had met at.
Another was the vvery VERY tall maths teacher who was well over 6ft and broad shouldered, drove an old mini cooper but with the front seat removed like the character Hightower did in I believe one of the Police Academy movies. Late 90's, we had a fairly attractive art teacher at secondary school, late 30's, athletic build, who had featured in multiple porn mags and at least one vhs porno when she was in her early 20's. Rumours spread for years, like a handed down legend to each new school year. We were in year 10 and a sixth former had made a discovery in his dad's porn mag collection... her in a MFF threesome. Don't think there was a student who didn't get a chance to flip through that mag in the upper years.
Roll on a week at best, a couple of parents had heard about it and another porn mag appeared with her in it. Didn't take long before a third and fourth mag appearance happened. Then the vhs rumour happened. The first mag was a collection of posed and natural photos from a filmed porno, and it was rumoured a kid in the year above us had found a copy in his dad's room. Never found out if that kid genuinely saw that vhs or if it was just fantasy.

Not so much a rumour but validation on a bad vibe.
Had a music teacher in secondary school that everyone liked, including me to begin with.
In his 20s, good looking, fashionable, great humour/banter with the students, was great at guitar. The lads wanted to be his mate and the girls fancied him.
There was another female teacher at the school who was, in no uncertain terms, gorgeous. And they started dating.
In one after school music lesson he was joking about with me and some other students and he started making jokes about having anal sex with her. He even stayed writing a song about it there and then. Everyone thought it was funny but I had a moment of thinking, “Why is this guy talking about anal sex with a bunch of 14-15 year olds like he is one of us?”
Clicked then and there to me that he was quite immature and inappropriate. He also “joked” with the other guys about who they fancied and what his”thoughts” were. I didn’t like the guy after this and everyone else thought I was being too precious.
Anyway, a few years later he moved to another local school…and got into a relationship with a student. It all came out when she was 16 (but it would have started before then).
Last I heard he voluntarily left the job to be with her and even had approval from her parents.
It’s baffling what people get away with thanks to their natural charm.

My maths teacher was considered ‘cool’ because he would let us hang out in his classroom and would laugh and joke like he was on of us. Everybody fancied him because he was good looking as well. There were rumours he had kissed a few girls and other rumour swirling around.
A few years after we left he was in the news because it turned out he had sex with one of the students and went to prison for it. This was after he got a side career as an actor and appeared in some television adverts too.

One of the younger teachers used to spend lunch times in the sixth form common room. There were a couple of reasons he liked to do that and then he was suspended.

We had an RE teacher who had a criminal conviction for child abandonment & got caught touching a female pupil. The school tried to get rid of him and the teachers union went out on strike in support of him.
Had a geography teacher who had relationships with various 15 & 16yr old girls, he was seen as a bit of a 'jack the lad'.
This was 40yrs ago, it was very different times.

Music teacher would occasionally bring her baby to school but we never heard anything about the dad. Turns out he had been a sixth former a few years back.
Pair of teachers (male, female, both unmarried) suddenly disappeared. They’d run away to New Zealand.
Latin teacher was a bit of a creep in that he liked to make suggestive little comments about some of the poems we were translating but otherwise just seemed a bit eccentric. Years later he went to prison for possession of child porn.

Rumours that the French teacher was a wrong'un.
He's doing 15 years in prison in Scotland for what he did at the school before ours.

Male music teacher having a relationship with a male sixth form pupil.
This was confirmed when they were caught having sex in the soundproof booth of the music block.

One of the first rumours I heard about teachers was that one of the history teachers and one of the maths teachers fancied each other. My first year in the school everyone gossiped about it. Other teachers would even gossip about it with students. By the time I finished school they were married and had a baby.

We had a science teacher who was famous for wearing Disney themed ties every day. Someone made up a rumour that it was because his daughter loved Disney and she’d died. Anyway, that wasn’t true, but someone did find his Grindr profile with a profile picture of him in just his Mickey Mouse pants. He left.

The principal at my local catholic boys college was rumored to be sexually abusing and raping the pupils over the span of many years. The kunt was dead before all the rumors were confirmed. The catholic church covered it up as well as some of the other teachers that knew this was going on and said fuk all.

The most open secret was a maths teacher Mr Chipchase was a peadophile.
15 years after I left he was convicted of grooming a kid in the exact same school.
The school came out and said they where shocked and has no idea yet every pupil past and present knew it.

Ours were pretty minor. The worst ones were all proven to be false. The only true ones were a gay primary school teacher and a secondary school teacher having a mental breakdown

A drama teacher was sent to prison for having a relationship and impregnating one of the sixth formers. I was so glad he got caught, even back when I was a teenager I absolutely hated the guy. It was obvious he was a massive creep who had no concept whatsoever of personal or professional boundaries, as if we were all just his mates or playthings kept around to keep him entertained.
Like I remember him once giving me a massive lecture for not saying hi to him once when I passed him in the street on the way to school lol. All of his lessons he would just sort of wing them (which wasn't particularly hard as a drama teacher) while focussing most of his time on the 4 or 5 students he thought of as cool. He went down I think for one year, if you ask me it should have been ten.

Secondary school physics teacher was rumoured to be sleeping with one of the girls in the year group above mine. He was mid-twenties, she was 15.
It was true, and they are now married. This was circa 1998/1999.

It was different times and nobody said anything at the time but my French teacher used to have his favourite girls round his house for extra tuition. I think he got done for being a pedo many years later. Can you imagine allowing your child to go to a teacher's home, after school hours? Crazy times. I used to wonder why I wasn't invited to his special club, I just thought I wasn't good enough at French. I'm glad now I wasn't!

notThaTblondie@reddit
Because within the general thread, that you are so offended by, some of the rumors that turned out to be true were that the teachers liked kids.
I wouldn't start on about other people reading comprehension when you're getting your knockers in a knot over a silly reddit thread

That one of the science teachers had dated Jodie Marsh (this was the story of the century for the horny teenage boys we were). Not sure how the story came about or how anyone actually found the evidence. This was 20+ years ago.

I was a secondary school science teacher for many years. At an event I attended, invited by a friend who was unconnected with my area or job, I got talking to another of the guests who made serious accusations about a couple of my colleagues, regarding inappropriate behaviour with students. One of them was perhaps a little over-friendly, but nothing substantive ever materialised.

Youngish married male English teacher was inviting 6th form girls round for cheese and wine nights, obviously rumours he was sleeping with one/some of them.
Soon as we finished A Levels he split up with his wife, and shacked up with one of the girls. They are still together 20 years later, for kids etc.

Young science teacher (female) went out with similar age lab tech (male) who had a motorbike, so she got leathers and would often get a lift to school even after he stopped working at our school. Over the next five years she shifted to dressing more formally to get promoted. Nice flowery dresses, etc. By the time we were in U6, her first years who had her as a form tutor asked if she was married.
She said no, but she lived with her boyfriend. What's he like? "Well, he's 6'8", got about 20 piercings in his ears and face, lots of tattoos, almost always wears black leather, and rides a huge motorbike." The 11 year olds all gasped and thought she was joking, until we confirmed this was totally accurate.
Also, not my school, but school friend's dad was a headmaster of a small private prep school. And was always kinda sleazy especially to my prettier friends when we were teenagers. Yes, he's currently serving 15 years for paedo offences.

Rumours about our young, pretty, blond PE teacher were doing the rounds. Someone even broke into the school and spray painted her name and the word “slag” all over the PE block. One teacher being a bit of a wrong 'un. Lots of rumours and was always a bit touchy feely in the mid 90s. About 10 years ago someone on the old school FB group shared the DfE investigation. Wasn't enough evidence for a criminal charge, but he was struck off for inappropriate behaviour.

My favourite teacher when I was in yr 7-9 (11-13) was also really popular with my other female friends. We thought he was a great teacher and he was heavily involved in extra curricular activities we also enjoyed. The boys in our group thought he was creepy and there were rumours he was inappropriate with male pupils. One guy in our group said he’d invited him round to his house. We never believed him, thought it was cruel gossip. I genuinely thought if he was inviting pupils to his house he’d have invited me and my friends because we liked him and took part in the clubs he ran. Anyway, years later after we’d all left school he was convicted of sexually abusing male students from the school after inviting them to his house.
