What's the one weapons you hate with a passion for no real reason?

Posted by StraTh0@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 357 comments

echo202L@reddit

Not a weapon but a cartridge. 6 ARC. I don't hate it for any of its drawbacks, they can be worked around with enough money. I hate it because it's standing in the way of 6mm Max, a cartridge that does everything the 6 ARC can do and more.

How could the ATF improve its reputation?

By actively advocating for civillian gun ownership, preparedness, training, etc. And advocating for the abolition of the NFA, FFA, GCA, & Hughes Amendment.

True, but he could Virginia carry until he gets to the house and then pull his shirt over it. No cop is going to enforce a carry permit in a private residence not open to the public that he is allowed to be in.

They no longer stand behind it because the CDC lost all objectivity in 2020 and became highly politicized. Even then they only withdrew the claim with the excuse that it was "difficult to prove" and "self defense is subjective." the latter of those excuses being entirely untrue.

Firearms only kill like 0.062% of the US population every year, but defensive gun uses number in the millions where, in most cases, the criminal is only injured, or runs as soon as the firearm is deployed. Therefore saving the life of the perpetrator and the victim. We don't have a gun problem in my country, we have a crime problem, and the responsible gun owners carrying their guns everyday are the solution.

Do I still have the right to own a gun?

Posted by No_Neat4467@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 50 comments

echo202L@reddit

It actually looks like according to 922(g) state felony convictions are bound by state restoration of gun rights, I do believe that you are unfortunately a prohibited person based on the label of felony. The 1 year part is a way for them to get some misdemeanors too, not a way to actually make it fair. In terms of the form, I'm not sure if a new form is being developed or you would still need to fill out ATF Form 3210.1

Do I still have the right to own a gun?

Posted by No_Neat4467@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 50 comments

echo202L@reddit

Federally, you are prohibited from owning a firearm. Currently the only way to get that right back is to be pard9ned, or for a federal court to restore your gun rights, however the Trump administration has established a process for getting relief from "firearms disabilities" through a form available on the DOJ website. https://www.gunowners.org/doj-allows-federal-gun-rights-restoration-for-first-time-since-1992/

320 FCU- a part of the problem?

Posted by Kind_Aide825@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 71 comments

echo202L@reddit

It's the design of the sear and the quality of the firing pin. It seems to be a combination of the firing pins breaking from the release of spring tension and the sear surface slipping. Not an expert and haven't had a 320 apart in person though, so take that with a massive grain of salt. (Even though the guns are certainly unsafe regardless of the cause)

Can I get an ID on this gun?

Idk but I'm going to hijack your post to complain once again that S&W doesn't make any 9mm Snubbies. They should bring back the 940 and make a 9mm version of the 627 Snub. Both would be in my collection ASAP.

Why have striker fired pistols mostly supplanted hammer fired pistols in the market?

Posted by Cheemingwan1234@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 108 comments

echo202L@reddit

Because DA/SA pistols require learning 2 trigger pulls, and SAO's require a manual safety. Neither is acceptable for most modern shooters when a striker fired pistol is objectively better and more affordable. The Glock singlehandedly killed DAO handguns, but I personally believe DA/SA & SAO still have a place in modern defensive shooting for those willing to learn their quirks.

Is firearms design stagnating?

I think we're gonna see guns get shorter and lighter without compromising ballistic performance. Their are some great guns out there doing this already. The MCX Rattler is pretty much on par with AK's in performance, and the new 6mm Max cartridge can fire a 58gr bullet from a mk18 at 3,000 FPS.

.308 or .30-06 would probably do the trick, but you might want to go with an elephant gun cartridge just to be safe. 458 Win Mag in one of those M1 Garand conversions would be my hypothetical choice. Remember that the most important thing is shot placement, followed by penetration, then energy, then velocity.

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

Let me lay out the facts for you. Underwood 124gr 9mm +p: roughly 413 foot pounds of energy from a 4.5" barrel Liberty Civil Defense 50gr 9mm +P: 489 foot pounds of energy from a 4.5" barrel Now shoot them side by side. There is less felt recoil with the Liberty Civil Defense.

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

Have you ever fired liberty civil defense? It's okay if you haven't but try it side by side with any other 9mm +p hollow point before you decide.

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

If you want a fast projectile with good expansion and less penetration Liberty Civil Defense is your round. You get 12" penetration, a large wound cavity, a substantial recoil reduction, a faster projectile, and no sacrifice in muzzle energy.

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

Now you're talking. That's not a bad round. But if were getting into niche loads, I still think I've seen better from 9mm External Hollow Points like the Underwood 68gr +P Xtreme Defender

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

The wound cavity gets quite small and is inconsistent past 9". That's not to say that it won't kill, but it really isn't any better than the 9mm.

Amazing new ballistics development!

Posted by JimMarch@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 70 comments

echo202L@reddit

The ballistics gel example you showed is from a 16" barrel. That 2,500 fps velocity is sufficient for extreme hydrostatic damage with any size or shape projectile that can be fired from a firearm. The velocity with a 5" barrel isn't even 2,000 with most 5.7.
