Lmao my partner used to drive a bone stock patriot, just your standard cheap car and some random girl yelled “that’s not a real jeep!” At her, for no reason what so ever. The girl was not in a jeep.

The funny thing about the faux off-road look is that they are actually shockingly capable off-road. I mean sure, they aren’t going rock crawling or anything but for what 95% of Americans want for something to off-road in, it will handle it just fine.

That’s literally what Buick used to be. The whole lineup was just comfy cruisers for those who didn’t want to pay the premium for a Cadillac. I’d say there’s still a market for that personally.

Is anyone else considering going "backwards" with their next car and if you have, did you regret it?

Posted by NWbySW@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 429 comments

Zappiticas@reddit

To each their own. Mine wasn’t a great example and was $2,500. It has 225k miles on it too. I’ve owned it for 4 years. It’s only once left me stranded and it was a bad battery, which realistically if i were on top of things I would have replaced due to age, but I wasn’t. Other than that I have put new struts on it but that was again just a normal maintenance thing. I drive it about 50 miles per day.

Not the person you responded to but, I mean people consider the grand national a muscle car and it had a turbo v6. The turbo inline 6 in the new ones could maybe walk that line.

If we are really going to get pedantic, none of the current “muscle cars” are muscle cars anymore. They are all sports cars at this point. The most recent V8 challengers and chargers were the last muscle cars.

To me, Alfa exists only as a brand that enthusiasts want to like but typically believe is too unreliable to own. At least that’s how I feel. The gulia checks so many boxes for me and imo it’s one of the best looking cars ever made. But holy shit the ownership experiences are not good.
