I got into the habit of recording the desktop sessions on the occassions they did logon, they have special tools they run that aren't available to us and they won't give them to you if asked. 9/10 they don't know what the tools do, some Fiverr dev in India probably makes them

I know what you're saying, but LEAP support are so bad they have actually broken machines and then said they can't help. I do need to work on my stress management because it's not there but I struggle with depression and that does not make things easy

FOR GODS SAKE DO NOT GO WITH LEAP There is no amount of hyperbole, metaphors, or pure fucking begging that I can articulate to properly inform you just how much my entire team and I despise that stupid backwards piece of shit software. Also it's about £200-250 per user per month

Every chance I get to mention it I do lol, main caveat is that LEAP charges you to leave, and then when you do they just dump all your files on the client and expect them to sort it out

Honestly I'm trying to pivot out of IT Sure having knowledge that most people don't have is a great way to earn money, but a great way to make it mean nothing to you is to work around fucking retards

I might only have 2-3 cups a day, but I only drink incredible wanky and expensive loose leaf tea I figure that if we ruined a whole subcontinent over it we should at least drink proper tea

Before getting into IT consider this: are you really interested in the computers, or does it feel like an easy path to money? Secondly: are you happy to be paid to be the most stressed and angry person at any given moment?

Do young people still go on benders?

TheKingOfSpite@reddit

I mean, me and my mates have been going out on benders from 18 till about now as most of us enter our 30s some things never stop being fun (everyone is in a band lol)

Is it too late to change careers? I'm about to enter my 30s and I'm utterly sick to death of IT

This is the kinda thing I need. I have a very cagey relationship with the concept of ageing. Unfortunately that relationship is one way because ageing loves (hates) us all equally hahaha

At the weekend I usually go out till the sun comes up, then either do it again on saturday or stay in and games wit da bois

Travelled through central america about 10 years ago, answer was: something every day Thinking i was going to be arrested and put in Panamanian jail Getting a gun pointed at me in Bocas Del Toro Nearly drowning in Bocas due to rip current Getting fronted by a doberman and a rotty on the boarder to Guatemala at 4am (my shouting woke a border guard who scared them off) Getting caught up in a drive-by on Honduras Nearly getting kidnapped/simply shot by some dodgy dudes in the back of a truck at night in costa rica Take your pic really, but the dogs might have been the scariest

Who else who works in tech feels overwhelmed?

Posted by enginedin@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 102 comments

TheKingOfSpite@reddit

I work in tech and it is DEEPLY uninteresting to me I learn as is required, and I only really learn things that are immediately useful to me, otherwise it gets forgotten My game plan is keep my head above water, then move out into management (project, team, whatever) as I'm quite a people person, and I love teaching things to people who actually want to know them Money is good, work from home. Most of the time decent work/live balance, but last month I worked the better part of 50hrs overtime and that nearly killed me

TheKingOfSpite@reddit

I work in IT. My struggle is that I work in IT My second struggle is that most of our clients are legal professionals and it's been a total rug-pull. You'd think legal professionals are elite, porfessional, smart, with problem solving abilities, and decent reading comprehension skills. This often ends up not being the case. One of our clients is a very large national agency and they are - to a man- thick as shit. Entire company held together by the 5-10 people who are actually good at their job

Getting caught in a rip tide and almost drowning. Swimming in one direction, not moving at all, getting pounded to the floor by the suf, I was only like 9-10 at the time as well. Thank god I'm a strong swimmer, but that memory keeps me up at night and makes me sweat I've been caught up in a drive by, had a knife pulled on me, tried to fight a guy off my mums boyfriend after he broke in at night (only 13 in that one) but that feeling of helplessness is fucking chilling. I got out because a surfer saw me struggling

If you're not lying about how much you got paid, then you're doing it wrong. Not exactly a CV thing but same ilk, scored a 10 grand pay rise last time I did it. They thought it was only a 5g raise
