FJ Cruiser uncomfortable? Not in a million years. That thing was unbelievably comfy for how utilitarian it was. I DD’d mine for 5 years and never found it remotely uncomfortable.

What happened that you had to buy a <$5k car....

Posted by JaKr8@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 474 comments

SubieDom@reddit

I used to buy non-running VW bugs for a few hundred as a high schooler, fix them up in a weekend to running, patch over rust with bedliner and 3m tape, then sell for a couple grand. Repeat and repeat and repeat. Can’t say I’ve ever bought a car for under 5k for anything other than making cash as a kid.

Hard disagree from me. Life of wrenching on cars and motorcycles from my childhood includes the smell. But I can do without ever smelling diesel exhaust again, and I love diesels.

Looks fun. Best flight I ever had was Frankfurt to Atlanta in 2012. I was one of two passengers in my class. Saw way more flight attendants than necessary like they were catching the ride. Not really sure what the deal was, but an attendant said the plane was either coming from or going into a service or something like that. I just sprawled out across a row like I owned the place. Slept like a baby for a while.

Beautiful color. The wheel combo, stance, everything really flows well. My neighbor had a 71 when I was kid (90’s) and it had the loudest exhaust note I’ve heard to this day(Was a ex-stock car). Such a bad ass car to see rolling down the neighborhood street shaking everything.

New Tacoma breaks during the TFL Off Road test

SubieDom@reddit

Honestly, not entirely sure what the problem was. They just came out with a new design with reinforcement to the area and it never happened again as far as I know. Mine was never fixed by Toyota. I just had my front end torn out, custom reinforced and tubed for long travel.

35. By the time I was 25 I had gone through 20+. Mostly aircooled VW’s as I could could buy a non-runner, fix it, sell it and profit and get something better. I no longer know how many I’ve had in total. Probably 40+. I have since lost interest in wrenching, etc. and moved on to motorcycles, and that number got just as stupid as they are cheaper and much easier to buy and sell. Down to just 2 cars and couple bikes at a time.

If the engineers and designers can’t figure out how to put the turn signals in the tail light assembly, I don’t trust any of the cars engineering

>the reputation The reputation comes from the fact that it’s the only modern flying aircraft in the arsenal that saw development, with accidents and tragedies during modern times, that are still remembered by people and the media *because it was shown on media at home*. If this was developed the same time as say, the Huey, it would have been almost ignored. But no, these things were killing troops in the 90/00’s and would be all over the 6:00 local and national news for a week. So people think it happened and happens a lot more than it does.
