I had them in 4th grade. I had a super mild case. I was outside playing with the neighbors after school because I felt fine, and they had already had it. I have a scar above one eyebrow.

So who has a GOOD relationship with their parents?

I just read that with my 5th grader as our before bedtime read. Then we tried to watch the movie, and he was so upset it was different from the book that he didn’t want to finish it.

In October my family stayed in an air b and b and each toilet had heated bidets (seats and water) and it was super complicated to use. But oh so nice. I’m a convert. Dont have one yet… it’s on my list tho

Speaking of grandparents, what did you call yours and what do you want to be called if you ever become one?

Grandma and grandpa Grandma When talking about my grandmas, I would use their first name after “grandma” but never to to their face, unless they were both in the same room.

I started needing them a few years ago, but fought it until about a year ago. It wasn’t awful an I wasn’t ready for them. Then I started using them and wow! What a difference. Also owner of a pair of progressives 🤷🏻‍♀️

How much did you get sick when you were a kid?

Puzzled_Loquat@reddit

I was hardly sick as a kid as I remember. 4th grade was tough… the flu twice and chicken pox. I had bronchitis in hs once. An ear infection once. Never had strep throat or pinkeye till college. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I got my first degree in June and I want something to commemorate that without it looking too karate-y, if that makes sense. I saw someone recently that had squares down his arm, the colors of the belts in order. I kinda like that. It’s sorta iykyk kinda deal.

The 2nd one i got also has something symbolic for my kids as well as something else meaningful for me. My oldest (almost 14) wants to get a semicolon when they turn 16. My mom would be overjoyed 🤣

I got my first tattoo in 2016, a small one with my kids names on it and my mom was NOT pleased. I got my 2nd in 2023, it’s a bit bigger and colorful and when my mom saw it she said “I hope that’s not real.” I said “it is and I’m over 40.”

Mid to upper 70s… my dad is pretty ok mentally and physically. My mom really declined after the pandemic, she doesn’t drive. Has trouble remembering things.

Toxic parents?

Puzzled_Loquat@reddit

My parents were not super hands on when I was a kid. But we always knew they’d be together, we’d have a house and food to eat… didn’t have to worry about basic necessities and more. I don’t know what I’d do without my parents. They’ve helped me in ways as an adult and a parent myself that I never could have dreamed of.

Since the Winter Olympics are starting, I thought I would talk about my all time favorite Olympian, and fellow Xennial, Michelle Kwan. I don't care if she never clinched the gold I still think she is the GOAT

I have a 13 year old and an 11 year old. The 13 year old just got an updated phone for Christmas and when the 11 year had a birthday, also got a first phone. Everything is monitored and time limited. I’m fairly strict with things, it appears, at least compared to their friends/classmates. But it’s necessary.

My dad was a sales rep for a rep group that sold to stationary stores. He had his own schedule, and I regularly went to work with him on school breaks or in the summer when I wasn’t at camp. It was fun fixing the greeting cards, I always got a fun lunch and usually some candy.

I generally wear contacts, only wearing glasses at the beginning of the day or the end. I was nervous that progressives were going to make me dizzy and nauseous. However, they didn’t and I didn’t have any issues using them.
