Are other balkan countries, except Greece drinking Freddo Espresso/Cappuccino, cold coffees?

Posted by OneZookeepergame780@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 70 comments

It's the same here, sugar on table for hot and ask how much sugar for cold (they mix it with the coffee before they put the ice). Thing is that we only drink hot coffees on winter, so a cafe may not have table sugars at any other season.

Why does it seem impossible for the Greek economy to improve their debt situation ?

Thing is, that all this started on 2010, not 2020. You see 5 year reductions, I see that we have higher debt than 2010 when crisis begun and our European saviors literally fucked our economy.

Because of the memorandums forced to us by EU. Not only we have similar debt back to where all started, our economy was obliterated. And there is no hope for at least the next 10 years too. What could have been fixed with a few measures back in 2010, was made to an economic catastrophy for our country. Many economologists are very critical of what they enforced on us and how wrong was those measures. RIP

In Greece, the Minister of Health advocated on live TV the legalisation of guns. Do you agree with him?

Man who's gonna break to your house to kill and rape? What are you talking about? The only way to make him assault you is if he feels his life's threatened. Either way I wouldn't trust you with a gun. Who tells me that you wouldn't see a different situation as a rabid dog needed to be putted down also?

I'm sorry, but if it comes to that point that they are inside your house confronting you, just don't defend yourself. Let them take what they want and leave. Hopefully they'll get what they deserve later by the police. Why would you potentially have in your concience the killing of a human, when you're just the victim in this situation? Would only make things worse. Yes, there is a chance that they get afraid and leave your house without taking anything. But if that's the case, just have a fake gun instead. I don't see a benefit having real guns made legal and as I've said, it would normalize extreme behaviors.

Look I get it, I live alone in a cottage and sometimes I fear and would want a weapon to feel safer too. But the thought that it won't be just me and everyone out there will also have a weapon is more terrifying. I'm 100% sure that random killings will start happening. And how do you counter that fear then, that everyone could potentially carry a weapon at any given moment? By taking your weapon on you also ofc and then the cycle of pointless violence and killings continue. I am glad that having a weapon is considered abnormal in Greece. I am glad that noone I know owns a weapon (I am aware that's not the case on the borders though). The fact that we have progressed and denormalized gun possesion is something positive for europe and we should not regress to what it was before. Even if there was a way to limit the gun inside the house, I would argue that in-family homicides would increase. The only way to address our fear properly is to combat harder the illegal gun sales, so gun possesion can become even more rare. The american gun laws, homicide stats, school shootings etc. only confirms this, not the opposite.

Countries with the highest annual per capita consumption of olive oil/ butter in kilograms

So France is the only Meditteranean country that uses butter more than olive oil. But to be fair, their cuisine is centered around butter and you could say they have popularized it on many other countries too. Still, olive oil is the healthier choice though.

Is or was this kind of wall clock popular in the Balkans?

How come many Turks thinking of being more similar to Greeks, than to people with a longer history of Ottoman influence, and a bigger percentage of Turks and other muslims (Bulgaria, NM) and/or Muslim Majority (Bosnia, Kosovo, etc)?

That doesn't alter the fact that there is also a huge part of greek culture that is clearly intertwined with Anatolian culture, from north to south. From songs, food, words, you can find similiarities everywhere. I am not sure about the rest of the countries that you mentioned and how many similarities there are, but Greece has for sure a lot in common with Turkey. That doesn't change the fact that we also have many differences, people are not one dimensional and get a lot of different influences over the centuries. Not sure what point you trying to make here tbh.

It doesn't seem to work out for me

But still, the prices of everything besides food and rent is the same for all of us (variations are slight). There is definitely something wrong with this chart.

I think by now that it has to do with how dilated the pupils are. When I'm outside and focusing on something sunny, I then see it black and blue. If I go to a shadowy room, I see it as white and gold.
