Who are the most famous people from the Balkans (today not historically)?
Posted by d2mensions@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 837 comments
Dua Lipa is the most famous one in social media/music industry, she has over 88 million followers on Instagram.
What about in sports for example?
Zepz367@reddit
Dua Lipa isn't really from the Balkans, she has balkan heritage yes but she was born in London and grew up there.
Foreign_Activity_543@reddit
Luka Modric Novak Djokovic
Dua Lipa? Nah, she is more british than from Balkans, this two guys represent balkan in full form.
PayAdministrative436@reddit
She has Kosovar citizenship, speaks fluent Albanian and has foundations and even a famous festival here, one of the biggest in the balkans. She absolutely represents Kosovo, what the fuck are you even on about. She even got flack for flaming the serbs hard on social media some years ago, that’s a true to the bone Kosovo Albanian
Foreign_Activity_543@reddit
lol
she is balkan like trump is good person
not even close to real balkans!
ProfessionalWall6526@reddit
Dua Lipa isn't even from a Balkan country. She's someone of Albanian descent that was born and raised in the UK. As much I don't like her, I'd say Melania Trump...
PayAdministrative436@reddit
She was partly raised in Kosovo and has kosovar citizenship, besides, you know, having Albanian parents
8NkB8@reddit
I thought she was from England.
NegativeMammoth2137@reddit
Yeah she basically is as Balkan as "Italian Americans" from New York are actually Italian
PayAdministrative436@reddit
Smartest polack.
Both her parents are kosovo albanian and she lived in Kosovo for some time and even has Kosovar citizenship
Pale-Seaworthiness80@reddit
No. Not even remotely close as a comparison. 😂😂 She was born to Albanian Parents who were born and raised in Kosovo (not to 3rd generation immigrants), she lived in Kosovo for 5 years in her early teens, she speaks fluent Albanian, not Bronx English, she includes Kosovo and Albania in her tours, she is more Albanian that many Albanian immigrants that grew up in Albania or Kosovo until their 20s and then moved to another country and somehow can't speak Albanian without a foreign accent anymore. So, no dude. She isn't like Italian Americans in New York 🙂
OverallPhrase4623@reddit
Dua speaks fluent albanian…
8NkB8@reddit
Well I knew she had Albanian parents and now know that she lived in the Balkans for a time. As far as I know she's fully Albanian, in contrast to many Italian Americans (and every other group after 1-2 generations in the US) who aren't fully Italian.
narwhaldreams@reddit
She was born in and grew up in London but her parents are from Kosovo and Albania. She has all three citizenships.
Dardan_Gashi@reddit
She went to elementary school in Prishtina. Basically she's albanian living in UK
Apart-Persimmon-38@reddit
...for 2 years, at the age of 13. I mean she has Balkan origins, but she is more British then anything else. I have friends who grew up in Belgrade and moved to UK for high school, listen, they are more British then Serbian, even though they are fluent in both languages the way they act, talk, walk... all british behaviour
Nothing against her, but we always slap our chest in the Balkans claiming something that is "ours" to make ourselves feel better.
Nikola Tesla is an American inventor of Serbian origin, is the very controversial truth for example
WideAttempt5770@reddit
Same for me my great grandfather came from Serbia to Switzerland and were the 4th Generation here im swiss i never said im serbian.
TheNinjaNarwhal@reddit
I wouldn't call Tesla an American. He's not Serbian for sure, but he was born and grew up in (then) Austria, studied in Hungary. He moved to the US when he was 28, I believe. By then most of your identity is formed and doesn't really change, no?
Apart-Persimmon-38@reddit
I think I used the correct term, yes controversial but what I think is correct. American inventor as most of his most important work and proofs of concept happened in the US and he is of Serbian origin. His identity is for speculation
d2mensions@reddit (OP)
no she lived in kosovo for 4 years
Apart-Persimmon-38@reddit
It says 2 on wikipedia. 13-15 years of age, maybe you have different data then them
d2mensions@reddit (OP)
i saw an interview and she said she moved to kosovo with her family when she was 11 years old (so in 2006) and when she was 15 years old she moved back to london (2010). she said she liked living in kosovo but she didn’t like that she couldn’t see famous singers there because no one held concerts in kosovo. she knew she had better opportunities in london
the wikipedia page is wrong because it says she moved to kosovo after its independence in 2008.
Dardan_Gashi@reddit
You're kinda right, but the term "nationality" lately has become subjective! I.e. in political matters, serbians living in Germany are called "serbian community" by officials. If someone particularly is doing decent, they call it "serbian origin", and if they're doing good, they call them "a german with serbian origin". This goes for any nationality ofc.
I think we often confuse nationality and citizenship.
Apart-Persimmon-38@reddit
Oh ofc, Ozil is a really good example of this, when he plays well for the national team he is german when he plays bad he is turkish
Ruudsrb@reddit
She attended elementary school in Serbia, I don't see the relation with her nationality
triumfi@reddit
Delulu
Ruudsrb@reddit
If Tesla is Croatian Dua can be Serbian as well 😂 /s btw....
Dardan_Gashi@reddit
Whatever man
SonilaZ@reddit
Born in England to Albanian parents from Kosovo!
RedGavin@reddit
My first thought was that they'd be termed Kosovar parents, but Wikipedia suggests that it's appropriate to say Albanians from Kosovo or Kosovo Albanians.
MartMillz@reddit
More appropriate to say Serbian
nisko_dinja@reddit
Actually she was born in Yugoslavia 😂
d2mensions@reddit (OP)
Well she was born in London, but she lived in Kosovo for like 5 years. She returned to London because she had more opportunities there
Her name tho is Albanian, she speaks Albanian, she has visited Albania and Kosovo and she has included Albania and Kosovo in her world tours.
8NkB8@reddit
I knew she was of Albanian descent, but didn't know she spent that much time in Kosovo.

TurdEye69@reddit
You can google that for yourself lol
immacomment-here-now@reddit
Why can’t you just explain it to me kolega bratko guy
TurdEye69@reddit
Because Azis is a feeling. And feelings are to be experienced and not explained.
immacomment-here-now@reddit
Why didn’t you just say that to begin with? By the way; does anyone remember Upsurt and their 3in1 coffee song from way back? The “Look at me” one? I checked it out yesterday after not listening to it for a while and to me it’s still pretty good.
TurdEye69@reddit
Yeah people still listen to these! We consider them a classic.

TurdEye69@reddit
For some reason bro is super famous among the Chinese people. I thought it was just a rumour but a friend of mine who lived there confirmed.
smellslikeweed1@reddit
My Chinese best friend whom I met at university in the UK is obsessed with him. He knows all his songs, some that even I forgot about 😂😂
TurdEye69@reddit
Amazing 😂
Did he manage to explain the phenomenon among the Chinese people?
smellslikeweed1@reddit
Idk but he showed me Chinese social media and azis is viral in it. He said all gen z in china and especially chronically online people know Azis. I think he said they like him because of his wild looks, very expressive queerness and just the quirky mix of balkan tones in his music and vibes in general and then his looks which are contrasting to each other.
SilentTraveller7926@reddit
I love Azis too! 😃 Well, the old Azis in sequined dresses and oiled body.

Iapetus404@reddit
Foureira is from Albania like Dua Lipa.

mob74@reddit
You could say Vangelis, Eleni Karaindrou, Demis Roussos, Yanni, Mikis Theodorakis?
Iapetus404@reddit
bro almost everyone of them is dead.
mob74@reddit
❤️ they maybe dead but their work is eternal
Whole_Obligation_776@reddit
Lanthimos might not be remembered by everyone but whoever is into movies surely knows him by now because dude carved such a unique part for himself and his movies will probably wont age too much. This is to show the objective truth.
But now subjectively, god damn, fuck that dude, I tried Dogtooth and said this dude isnt for me and havent able to watch any of his movies ever since. I cant watch movies that will make me need a hug afterwards.
drt0@reddit
Bugonia was quite entertaining and I think it's his most approachable film.
Whole_Obligation_776@reddit
Ok, I will give it a try, but I just googled it and that movie poster seems to be specially prepared to make sure I never watch this movie. But I am going to give a try.
Sweaty_Loss_5641@reddit
Let us know what you think! It was such a fun movie for me, and I'm not some die hard fan of Lathimos
DharmaLeader@reddit
Opposite for me, I like his movies but this one didn't click for me.
Sweaty_Loss_5641@reddit
Maybe that is exactly the reason it is his best movie for me :) We're all different!
drt0@reddit
Watch like 30 seconds of the first trailer
JahJahJahJa@reddit
Poor things would be the more approachable imo. Still weird ofc.
drt0@reddit
Idk the child brained prostitute arc left me a bit concerned.
joker_wcy@reddit
I only read the synopsis of Dogtooth and think he just wants reason to film incest. And Poor Things? Nah, his movies are definitely not for me.
Iapetus404@reddit
Even im fan of heavy European cinema Hakene,Kieslowski,Polanski etc.
I also cant see Lanthimos movies and specially dogtooth.

Could be. I was thinking Doncic,Jokic and Giannis from the NBA as well.
retzulian@reddit
Who? Djokovic is world famous, those guys are US famous
nickmn13@reddit
There is not a single person on the planet that watches basketball and doesn't know them. And considering that basketball is very popular in many places around the planet, they are very much world famous.
AtlasAoE@reddit
But I don't watch Tennis and I still know Djokovic. I'm not even from the balkans
Open-Price-4568@reddit
I just know he drinks his own piss and is a weirdo anti vaxxer
axolote_cheetah@reddit
That's wrong since him and his kids are fully vaccinated. He was anti COVID vaccine, which is a wrong take but doesn't make your statement true either.
Also, obviously doesn't drink his own piss.
nickmn13@reddit
And you don't know Giannis, Doncic and Jokic ?
axolote_cheetah@reddit
I don't actually
Radiant-Emergency926@reddit
I dont care about both sports, but I know djokovic but not the other 3..
AtlasAoE@reddit
Sorry I meant I watch neither Tennis nor Basketball
Snoo48605@reddit
Yes I'm sorry I agree with the person you are responding.
I don't care for either tennis or basketball. But I'm slightly less unfamiliar with basketball as in I've actually played it and gone to local matches, as opposed to never having even held a tennis racket and yet I still know Novak Djokovic but don't know who these other people are.
peasantbanana@reddit
I know Dončić and Jokić, Giannis not so much. Though I don't really watch basketball that much.
Bubbly-Shirt823@reddit
I dont have a clue who those are, but i know Djokovic. And i dont watch either of those sports
Lopsided-Economics13@reddit
But you probably know Jokic though?
purple_waterbuffalo@reddit
And thats the difference. To know them, you are either from the us, the balkans or a basketball fan. To know djokovic you don't need to be a tennis fan, or form the Balkens. Djokovic is known to one of the best dennis players for over a decade. One of those basketball players may someday reach the same level of stardom but not yet
Darknemo20000@reddit
Going by that standart then it should be a footballer right? Luka Modric?
nickmn13@reddit
Modric definitely is extremely famous, he just isn't at the same level of stardom in football. Modric was never really in a consistent "top player on the planet" conversation for a decade straight like the other 3.
Playful_Interest_262@reddit
nickmn13@reddit
And he was incredible that season. The difference is that people didnt spend a decade debating if modric is vetted than Messi...
ollewall@reddit
Brother no one is debating whether Donkic, Jokic or Giannis is better then MJ and James either. 😂
Exotic-Advantage7329@reddit
No cause he’s in a different position. They are debating Xavi, Iniesta, Zidane and Modric
Amazing_Scholar5178@reddit
And then you have one with 6 champ leagues and ballon dor vs those with 3 ucl, no ballon dor whilst playing with messi/henry/etoo/neymar/suarez in strongest teams of the world.
Anyone that can come close to Modric on his position in overall success, duration and quality is Kaiser Franz, nut that was waaaay different era
IapetusTheGreat@reddit
Well “those” also won the World Cup and Euros twice, and you mention Messi etc like Modric didn’t play with top 3 players in their respective positions for majority of his Real Madrid career. Also they finished multiple times in top 10 Balon D’or rankings during peak Messi/CR times, while Modric had 3 including his win. Don’t misunderstand me, Modric is an amazing player and he is definitely one of the greatest last decade, but dismissing Xavi and Iniesta because they didn’t win the Balon D’or is very short sighted.
Amazing_Scholar5178@reddit
Ronaldo and Bale left, Modric was one of best in Madrid to get another UCL.
Where were Iniesta and Xavi in those years?
IapetusTheGreat@reddit
Yeah after Ronaldo and Bale left, Modric had to play with nobodies like Benzema, Vinicius and Kroos…. Xavi and Iniesta left Barca in their early 30s after winning everything possible (multiple times) - they won everything before Modric even arrived to Real Madrid. That’s like me asking where was Modric the years before.
Accurate-Valuable-62@reddit
Nice take bro… Modric is in a class of his own, football is watches by billions all around the world and he is a Ballon D’or winner. For me Modric is an Icon and Jokic Giannis and Doncic can never reach his level!
TurdOfChaos@reddit
In which world does Jokić not reach his level? He has been the best basketball player in the world for the last several years. If he keeps these performances , up he is in the GOAT conversation.
Basketball is not that much less popular than football that a dude that’s been at the top of it for years can’t be compared to a great midfielder.
MJ is still an incredibly popular name in the world, despite the majority of the world’s populace never watching him.
Accurate-Valuable-62@reddit
Here the question is who is the most famous person. So, football is the most famous sport in the world, not even comparable to basketball(NBA is only watched in USA and small % of Europeans watch it). Modric is a Ballon D’or winner in the most famous sport in the world so he is for me the most famous from the Balkans!
TurdOfChaos@reddit
I don’t think they’re not comparable. Most stats that tried to gauge this number reach around a number of 3.5 billion vs 2.5 billion or so worldwide.
Basketball is popular enough to the point that the best player there would fair well against a great , but not best player in football.
You wouldn’t argue Lebron is less popular than Modric worldwide, would you?
I think it might be a coin toss between Jokic and Modric, but I think as time goes by Jokic is winning the popularity contest.
If we use google trends as a source, Jokic has surpassed Modric in popularity starting from around mid 2025 until today. If he wasn’t as charismatic as an average brick, I think Jokic would be dominantly winning it as well.
I think in general people that follow sports deep enough to know who Modric is, will at least tangentially know who Jokic is, but could be just my personal bias though.
finigemist@reddit
Based purely on instagram followers, Modrić is clear with twice as much followers as Djokovic
german_shepherd_woof@reddit
Modric is probably the best DPL football has seen. He was better than Pirlo and Xavi IMO.
solo665and1@reddit
More people watch fotbalul than basketball
gogule2@reddit
Not at the same level? Man is in the same bracket with zidane, xavi, iniesta, kroos, 40 year old that is still playing at the highest level being the best midfielder by stats in Serie A, also playing football, the most watched sport, definetly more famous than a Basketball player lol
boghiii@reddit
I think we just got a good rage bait tbh … bro started a reaction here haha
gogule2@reddit
Well i would like to see him argue about his opinion on doncic and the rest of them, they are good athlethes, i know about them, but you canno compare them to fucking Modric, Djokovic and Dua Lipa lol
boghiii@reddit
Modric is a generational midfielder and arguably top 3 midfielders ever also taking in consideration his character and personality that made him even more likable by every football fan not only Real Madrid or Croatia fans, he is the true definition of a legend in the most popular sport world wide.. on the other side the difference is that basketball i will say is a more niche situation, yes people may have heard of them and for sure they are popular in basketball but they are far from the legend status and even if they will achieve it i will still say there is still a big difference between legend status in football vs basketball and now people will bring MJ, LBJ or Kobe but the list is still very short compared to football ones
JahJahJahJa@reddit
You are wrong here, he is definitely in the conversation of the best midfielders of all time.

HermannZeGermann@reddit
That's just not true, on shear numbers alone. The NBA is very popular in some very populous countries like China and the Philippines. The NBA itself claims 2B+ fans that engage is some form of NBA content. That may be exaggerated, but that's a very large number. But whatever the actual number is, the share of those people who know of Doncic and Jokic is certainly 90%+.

BadBasik@reddit
Not everyone watches tennis, by your own logic...
casca14@reddit
It’s easier to hear about a sportsman that does an individual sport than one that plays in a team sport.
At the news even randomly if you have the tv on you’ll hear “Djokovic won the US Open” and for a team player you will not hear “Jokic from Denver won the game” but only “Denver won the game”.
That’s why it is easier even from a random person that sees a random sports site or tv news.
Funkoala@reddit
Not really, when we talk about superstars such as Jokic, Doncic and Giannis. Far more often they are mentioned for their absurd scorelines, highlights and records than team wins. As far as you are in the top 16 teams that make the playoffs, they don't really care about team records / wins. Personally, I never knew Denver's position in the league but Jokic's highlights and stats where literally thrown everywhere.
That can apply to football, if they don't score they won't bring up their names probably.
chandaz@reddit
More people internationally watch tennis than they do nba
Fine-Ear-8103@reddit
Def this more people watch basketball globally than tennis so they’re probably more famous than djokovic especially for the youth.
retzulian@reddit
More people watch football, those that make maguire more famous than djokovic?
Fine-Ear-8103@reddit
You just compared mediocre to the best tennis player ever, comparing top NBA players with rings to djokovic is better and when comparing the two i promise you vast majority of people under 30 will know the joker luka and giannis before knowing djokovic as most people just don’t watch tennis. The only reason me and most people know djokovic name is because we HEARD that he won 25 grand slams and since its a record he should be recognized for it but besides that, you’ll have an uphill battle trying to convince me more people sit at home putting on the tennis game rather than basketball.

Zlatan is claimed by us Swedes anyway. Pretty sure he aswell said that he sees himself more as a Swede since he grew up in Sweden. Although his Balkan heritage is a big part as well, he says in his book that whenever he was acting cocky it was his Balkan part showing.

He is serbian
falquiboy@reddit
Serbia is not Balkan? Wtf
treba_dzemper@reddit
Isn't his backstory "on je iz Republike Srpske, ako se ne varam" doe?
Emotional-Dish8866@reddit
Is never mentioned directly from which country he is from, closest we get in the game is a moment right in the intro where he says he speaks serbian
TheAp4ch3@reddit
Correct me if I am wrong but he was referring to war crimes he witnessed in the Republika Srpska (Srebrenica?). Meaning that he was a part of the republika srpska army (VRS). So he was most likely a serbian who lived in bosnia.
Ganondorf_Dragomir@reddit
He never really mentioned specific details and it's more likely that he fought in Kosovo, as the game takes place in 2008 and they mentioned that those events happened 10 years ago.
TheAp4ch3@reddit
Well... this is where my history fails me. The balkan wars are very complicated. No idea where serbia went in and why. Except for the bosnian invasion.
Ganondorf_Dragomir@reddit
Kosovo war started in 1998 when Albanians living in Kosovo tried to secede from Serbia and ended with NATO bombing of Serbia and Montenegro
Soldiers that fought on Serbian (and Montenegrin) side were mostly young conscripts that were sent there straight after completing their mandatory military duty.
Ganondorf_Dragomir@reddit
There's also a moment in The Lost and Damned dlc when the leader of the bike gang says "He was a Serb", after the other guy said that "some Polack" killed their member.

There are a lot of names being presented in this threat where I don't even recall to ever have even heard that name. For context: im western european

They're mostly in sports Luka Dončić, Nikola Jokić, Domen and Nika Prevc, Novak Djoković, Tadej Pogačar...
SadLeopard6497@reddit
No way Prevc and Pogačar, you are Slovenian so I understand they are famous for you, but to be honest no way anyone knows them if they are not specifically skiing fans or cycling fans, and those two sports are not really popular worldwide honestly, you got a few Nordics and Alpine countries, but that's pretty much it.
zyz8@reddit
Moderately following Wintersports or watching the news around new years in Germany and you know both Prevc
SadLeopard6497@reddit
Pretty much what I said, it's a specific fanbase. Gotta be German around the new years, but there are 190+ countries and 12 months, and winter sports are followed by 10 countries at most, during 2-3 months a year.
Similar are water polo and handball, played by 7-8 countries religiously, the rest of the world just competes not even knowing their national teams are there, even though there are huge legends in those sports, it's just not really popular worldwide. And don't get me wrong, I played handball for almost 10 years.
If you go outside of Europe, I don't think anyone is going to know them, or Mikkel Hansen or Ivano Balić, and they are arguably the best ever.

Interesting comparison of a local use of the same verb... If you'd use ,,ritati se" in Serbia everyone would be familiar with the term... But no one would think of a baby in this context.

It is a matter of taste, but for the majority of us is not a well regarded personality.

Dua lipa was born and raised in london, not sure I'd say she is from the balkans even if her parents were.
KlejdiV@reddit
Where you're born in Europe doesnt really matter as theres no citizenship by birth anywhere.
She lived in kosovo for quite a bit during her formative years.
Her family at home most definitely not british at all so they raised her the albanian way.
So basically she was born and raised as a kosovo albanian but grew to be more british.
Beneficial-Beat-947@reddit
She only got albanian citizenship in 2022 and a kosovo citizenship in 2025, when she was born britain did give citizenship by birth so she was a solely british citizen till 3 years ago and still considers herself british.
She grew up in the UK from 0 to 12 and moved to the balkans for a few years but then came back to the UK at 15 where she has been since. Idk about you but that's british.
According to her she considers london (camden) to be her roots but kosovo/albania are her ancestral homes (obviously)
KlejdiV@reddit
My guy, kosovo was not independent when she was born and she was not from albania, I wonder why she had neither at the time...
She grew up in an albanian household.
I guess it's really easy to be british if it works like that lol. But she spoke albanian and sang in albanian when she was a toddler and i dont know many british people that do that.
Also ethnicity is much for relevant for being albanian than british so you can see things differently, it's ok.
Her talents are from her parents though so there's that.
Timepass10@reddit
Well, you know how it goes. If they're succesful and appear acceptable, they're british/insert country of residence.
If they're not, they're suddenly albanian/insert parental heritage.
Beneficial-Beat-947@reddit
If you were born in britain, spent 95% of your life here then yes that's more then enough to be british
I'm not saying she can't be albanian as well but I was assuming this question would refer to people raised in the balkans at the very least, not just people with balkan ancestry (which is a bit odd, we can't really claim brits born in the US anymore even if they are technically of british ancestry)
KlejdiV@reddit
I think what I'm saying is she was albanian first and foremost and grew up in a british enviroment outside of family, thus becoming british by culture in addition to the albanian culture she had at home. Whereas you are saying she is british, like ok bro she is, not saying shes not, but she was definitely brought up as an albanian in a british environment.
Question is who are the most famous people from the balkans. To me it seems very straightforward. She is from the balkans cause she is kosovo albanian whose family emigrated recently. Dont try to apply your british nationality reasoning cause it wont work here, different place with different history. Just because her parents had to move cause of the state they were in, it doesn't make their family all of a sudden non balkan.
Also US is jus soli so it's not like europe and doesn't have anything to do with this conversation.
Beneficial-Beat-947@reddit
She was brought up as a londoner, that's a special type of brit.
Believe it or not white brits only make up like 35% of londons population now, pretty much every brit in london has some aspects from other cultures in their home life. If you're saying she's not first and foremost british then London is no longer a british city since she had the same upbringing as majority of the population lmao (including myself).
KIG45@reddit
Yes, European countries... most have a big problem with recognizing and granting citizenship to everyone born in the country.
That's why when you visit the central districts of a big city, you don't know if you're in Europe, Africa or Asia. But that's your choice!
Only the Balkans will keep their identity and that's wonderful!
It really makes me laugh when an athlete wins something with the national team of a country but waves the African flag. He just doesn't feel European because he's not!
What the hell citizenship are we talking about when these kids are raised and growing up with a culture completely different from yours? Dua Lipa is not and will never be British!
KPlusGauda@reddit
She's Albanian by parents, in my book, that means something
I don't mean this in a bad way
Beneficial-Beat-947@reddit
I guess you can say she's one of the most famous people who are ethnically from the balkans but I was assuming the question was atleast targetted to people who grew up in the balkans not just have ancestry there. She herself considers her personal roots to be in the UK and didn't even have an albanian/kosovar citizenship till 2022 and 2024 respectively.

Suprised that Nadia Comaneci was not mentioned so far. I do not know about the younger people but although I have never saw her in a competition her name was synonymous as world class excellence.
ak8664@reddit
Yeah, Comăneci peaked back in the 70s, so she’s not in the news as much as someone like Simona Halep who’s more recent but Nadia is the first gymnast ever to score a perfect 10 … she’s one of those names you can mention anywhere in the world and people will recognize it. Overall “most famous” really depends on who you ask age region, and interests all change the answer. Someone in their 20s might know Simona and have no clue who Nadia is.. there’s really no clear right or wrong answer here.. it’s pretty subjective

Get out of your sports bubble lol. No one cares about NBA outside of sports fans.
It's way more likely way more people know a world famous singer and her massive hits.
DekadentniTehnolog@reddit
Thing is that NBA is 2nd or 3rd sport in popularity in the US. Football is the most popular sport in the world. While music is universal. So Dua Lipa has far bigger reach than lets say athletes. Her songs are in every mall m, radio station and she even appears in commercials. There is a reason they are called pop-stars. NBA fans are just big echo chambers assuming NBA is that popular. To us fans it is.

And the list gets even more funny if we count people that have Balkan citizenships but are not from here, since that would include Johnny Depp, Adriana Lima, Steven Seagal, etc. because of the Serbian government giving out citizenships to everyone for publicity

His campaign was 2 weeks long on TikTok.
This set a dangerous precedent, seen for the 1st time in the world as the Social Media can impact election so much, so fast, and the algorithm can do this.
