Never a chain. They’re never authentic. I’m a white guy never been to Italy and I was the line chef in Bella Italia. Always go to an independent

Is it an A-hole move to report my neighbour to the police for lighting fires every single day?

Posted by skittlesthesecond@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 103 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

I wouldn’t have let it go past the one week mark. Someone who is doing it daily is going to continue to do it because they think it’s there world and we just exist in it. I had to report a neighbour for blasting music like a festival daily because he would start it at 11pm and it would go until 5am I let it slide for 3 days. Then I was like “I need sleep” he was given several warnings and then there was nothing. Not sure if he moved out or had is stereo removed but it stopped eventually

What’s the likelihood of someone in the UK being pulled over or spotted as someone driving without a license?

Posted by No_Cup_823@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 365 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

Highly risky and comes with crushing of the car, bans and trouble getting insurance in future. It’s not worth it even if she’s a competent driver. Would say good but good drivers wouldn’t take that unnecessary risk.

How to appropriately report someone for a potential crime?

Posted by ideally1030@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 26 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

Is it immigrants she hates or illegal migration because there is a big distinction I feel like it’s in the best interest of the smugglers to make sure the boats are fit for purpose given their lives are on the line if it sinks Therefore the only thing she’s doing wrong is tax evasion. The smuggles are responsible for the condition of the boat once they take ownership. They’re not protected by consumer rights if it’s used for criminal activities

If it’s sold as seen then ultimately it’s on the buyer. The person smuggling people is the problem not the person providing the defective boats

I get dismissed at drs 99% of the time. Takes me 10 days to get an appointment for them to tell me it’s anxiety related or weight related and not investigate further. I still have stomach/bowel issues, occasional dizzy spells for atleast 2 years and the most investigative work they have done is one blood test and a stool sample a full year after I started complaining about the symptoms Once you have anxiety/depression diagnosis and a high BMI everything is blamed on that. My sister lost half her body weight before they would stop blaming her weight for her medical issues

How can you find out the value of a car number plate?

Posted by PipBin@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 15 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

Most people who own a private plate buy it on the premise of moving it from car to car as they go through them so while the initial payment might be more than the car value it’s there plate for as long as they want to keep it even if the car is scrapped. My grandad had the same private plate all the way up to the point of giving up driving and he sold his plates to my uncle who will most likely sell it on to my cousin so it’s even if it’s 3k upfront if it’s something you can keep in your family you’ll get the value out of it

Is NHS 111 a waste of resources?

Posted by Morrit99@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 15 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

111 consultants are just average joes with minimal knowledge. They’re just people who read of a script and add your information to it to get the next bit of information. You will get the same results doing the online form. The only benefit to 111 is they can get you to the right departments faster especially if they’ve been doing the job for a while. (My mums friend with no medical training is a 111 operator and they’re not allowed to give advice unless it’s in the script for legal reasons)

Let’s be honest the level of English we hear these days makes me wonder if anyone actually knows English let alone can be trusted to learn another language. Most youths have adapted to Jamaican-English or American style English with the elongated vowels

You would be surprised at how quick you pick up languages when you have no choice but to learn them. I spent a month in Greece and I could nail basic conversational Greek by week three if I was to live there for 6 months who knows how well I’d speak. There’s also language apps that you can use to learn if you really wanted to. Saying that most countries are bilingual with English. My cousins husband in Holland speaks better English than most people I meet in the UK

When they started requiring booking to go to the local refuse centres fly tipping become more prevalent When kids stopped being raised and left to their own devices they stopped caring about their environment. It’s always the 15-25 people who dump rubbish to the side of their car and drive off. That and most places supplied 2-3 bins a carpark and now they only have bins by the front doors to save money on staff

Is it normal to charge extra for digital copies of photos you’ve already paid for?

Posted by Fluffy_Percentage158@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 57 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

It’s normal for people to ask for money for digital copies of photos. This is because digital copies have a high pixel resolution which gives you the ability to print off further copies. I don’t know the legal reasons but I’m pretty sure it’s down to ownership. The photographer can’t sell your images but they still own the rights to the photos

One day you will do it to someone with a dashcam and they will send it into operation snap and you’ll be landed with a ticket and points for hindering the flow of traffic.

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

Dashcams are fun for people like that. Operation snap sorts them out a nice little ticket and points on their licenses for the convenience. If it’s a work van or HGV they run the risk of losing their jobs too.

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

That might have something to do with traffic management 20-30 years ago traffic wasn’t as dense Even in the 14 years I’ve been driving the amount of cars on the road has grown significantly. You know the paperwork you sign when you accept your driving license one of the things within it is to keep upto date with Highway Code and conduct. I check it whenever there’s an update as to not get caught out 😂

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

It’s saying left lane ends in 600 yards. If they wanted you to stop using it 1000 yards ago they wouldn’t have bothered putting the signs up Use both lanes and anyone that says “they’re pushing in” forget that if everyone used both lanes like they’re meant to then they wouldn’t be in the situation.

Is it just a northern thing to use only your house's back door?

Posted by wiggan1989@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 219 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

My dad lives in Southampton and his front door is for post. The back door is for foot traffic. Think it’s more how the houses are built. A lot of people that have houses with no parking out front of them use the back entrance because it’s closer to the car My sisters house the front access road was that narrow you couldn’t park there so it was perfect for taxis but she had a drive in the back garden so we used the back entrance to the property if we ever visited or needed to park There’s also those who have carpets in their hallways and stepping in from the garden into the kitchen floor was easier to clean than to clean the carpet

Why are we so rabidly against developments despite the severe shortage of housing?

Posted by ThrowAway771024@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 352 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

Quality, infrastructure and cost. If you buy a home on the outskirts of town it’s premium housing. If they build a whole estate in your view not only does it devalue your home but it’s an eye sore for a few years They’re building new estates but not building anymore schools, doctors, dentists etc all of which are stretched thin as it is Then you’ve got the issue with developers buying farm land to convert making use more reliant on external countries for even more consumer goods.

They were never good but now they just don’t bother. It’s like “it’s for a delivery so let’s just slap it together and feck them”. During Covid they stepped up their game a lot. Like food was good and cheap because they were competing with each other. The second people could get their weekly shop without needing to queue to get in or wait 14 days for delivery slot. All the takeaways increased their prices while making the food barely edible.

If someone opens my door I’m kicked the door back on them. Whether they doing something nice or not. Under no circumstances do you open someone’s door without prior permission They do it to my elderly mum who has a sticker saying “disabled, may take longer to get to the door” on it and it makes her feel vulnerable. It wouldn’t be so bad but if you say it’s not ok they look at you like you’re the AH

What are some reasons people don't use online grocery deliveries more often?

Posted by tskir@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 739 comments

ItsShaneMcE@reddit

1. Most items unless on deal have atleast 15p increase to the price and that soon adds up when you have 100 items on your shopping list 2. it’s never the good stuff that they grab. It’s always the stuff most people would look at and put back or stuff that’s going out of date within 3 days 3. even with limiting disabilities I can do a weekly shop and be back in my car faster than I can find what I’m looking for on the online shopping apps/websites 4. If I go myself I get it the same day. I’m not having to wait for a delivery slot later in the week
