Is this a situation where there’s still soap bubbles on the plates when they’re placed on the drying rack? If so, apparently we can blame the 1980’s advertising for this, where - if I mis-remember incorrectly - Fairy Liquid showed plates with bubbles still on them.

> “*I assume they expect someone else to clear their rubbish*” I think it’s more basic and primeval than that. I don’t believe there’s any thoughts at all of “*someone else will deal with this problem*”. I suggest it’s as basic as “ugh, me finish burger, get rid of problem. Open window. Problem gone.” And that’s as much thought as they can muster. It’s learned behaviour; open window, throw out the problem, problem gone away.

So, they met their contractual obligations in starting the movie, on-time, on schedule, as they’re required to do. The fact they then switched it off after 20 minutes because: 1. No tickets were sold, and 2. Nobody came in a few minutes late They still started the show.

Posted by Finding_path762@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 24 comments

Inoffensive_Comments@reddit

Short answer is; No. There’s too many spoofed spam calls. Numbers which are apparently from a +44 UK number, but are very clearly an off-shore call centre in India, Pakistan, or any other country.

Should we move back?

Posted by Phryg1anM0de@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 25 comments

Inoffensive_Comments@reddit

I’d say that with the rise of social media, + an increased cost of living, has resulting a more “me me me” attitude; people get aggressive a lot faster if you dare to point out their poor behaviour, drivers now seem to see red traffic lights as advisory, rather than mandatory, and a low-level pervasive attitude of “not my problem, I’ll do whatever I want” is endemic. That’s not to say that society has broken down; far from it. But, it’s certainly *different* to a decade or more ago.

Should we move back?

It depends - do you currently enjoy a work/life balance in a walkable area with affordable transportation links and a civic-minded community? Would you prefer living in an area where owning a car is essential, instead?

Well, surely the chutney would be on top of the cheese? But, if I take a sophisticated half-bite of cheese & cracker, I don’t want the remaining cheese to just fall off; I want a bit of structural integrity in my cheese cracker construction.
