This is in reply to both people saying this, but that's the first I've ever heard of it being "metric fuck ton". I've always heard people use "metric shit ton" instead (added bonus of being a slight pun in this context) lmao

No idea wtf these comments are going on about. Only times I've seen glasses broken in pubs, the staff have come to clean it up almost immediately, and the person who dropped it isn't even really given time to consider dealing with it by themself. And as someone else said, if the person got injured while dealing with the glass themself, the pub would be liable!

You said 100 schools total though. If you've taught in (about) 100 different schools, you would have had to move catchment area at least once a year. Even if you lived right in Central London I don't think there's even 100 total nearby schools you could've been sent to!

I'm 22 and the eldest of 5. All my siblings and I got our music taste from our parents (and for me, a little from my grandma). Green day, blink 182, sum 41, Queen, the jam, the who, dead kennedys. All sorts. There's even people in my generation (mostly the eldest Gen Zs) who are now getting their young children into bands like MCR, Fall Out Boy, black veil brides, pierce the veil etc. Its absolutely because parents usually pass their music taste onto their kids lmao

In some ways though, it makes far less sense for Americans to chance that, cos apparently most cops don't carry breathalysers over there. So, if you were to get stopped, you could fail their silly little roadside performance test and get arrested for a DUI, even if you're actually under the limit (there's actually a lot of people who have failed that test while stone cold sober too)

So I used to eat Worcester sauce Walkers all the time when I was about 10 (2014), definitely my all time favourite crisps, then we moved away from the local shop and it took me a good few years to realise they'd actually completely disappeared at some point and i was super disappointed. I'd have to Google which exact year they got discontinued. But then they brought them back as a one off event like a year (or 2?) ago, and the event did so well that they brought them back for good! I'm well happy, basically constantly have 2 multipacks in the house now hahah

Only time ive ever seen a real gun in real life is when I was on a Scouts trip to London and at one point they took us past/to the gate at the end of Downing Street. Cue ~25 amazed/bewildered kids stood essentially just staring through a gate at this handful of armed cops for like a good half hour lmao

Yeah I got a load of downvotes only a week or so ago for saying that an American poster shouldn't call the cops on his mentally ill wife because I don't think a mentally ill person deserves to be shot dead. Someone replying to me seemed to genuinely not believe that our cops don't have guns, cos they were asking if, in that case, our cops "just allow" mentally ill people to attack or kill other people/the cops. I had to point out they do what they're meant to [in most cases] and actually de escalate situations!

Lmfao, I'm only 22 and we had to pray in every assembly at BOTH of my non-faith primary schools! Same with my sibling, who is 3 school years below me, so they were in one of them as recently as 2018! And, in one of my primary schools we had fairly regular visits from 2 local vicars, and in the other we had occasional visits from the same male vicar that also visited the other school (the 2nd vicar was a woman, just to clarify who was who, but she also ran a farm so I guess she was too busy to visit multiple schools lol)

Also have a 10y/o sister who would not be allowed to be anywhere in public without direct supervision. Not worth the risk!!! If I were you, I'd never forgive myself if one or more kids got hurt in any way. They can be trusted, strangers can't. There's been too many stories about teenage girls being sexually assaulted in public recently as well. Humans are awful!

In a somewhat similar vein, during covid my town suddenly had a shit ton of *laminated* cards keep popping up everywhere (blu-tacked to any and all surfaces), and they were all about Jesus or God, but most of them strongly implied this person believed that Jesus was going to cure covid and that everyone just needed to pray more. Was ridiculous, and extremely distasteful considering the amount of people dying of covid every day at that point. Found out after a few months while mentioning it casually to my friends, that I was *not* the only one taking them down and chucking them in the nearest bins (2 of my friends had also been doing this lmao). Person must've been very dedicated, went on for well over a year, and it always seemed like they put them up either very late or very early cos they always just basically appeared, and nobody ever saw who it was

Idk if this is lowkey doxxing myself, but a nursery near me had "they live" with a little devil stick figure thing above it for my whole life - if not longer. Then, anti vax idiots put covid themed graffiti on either side of it, and when the council or nursery painted over the stupid graffiti, for some reason they also decided to paint over this 16+ year old cool piece of history. I'll never forgive them for that!!!

You're missing the point. They're asking for a referral and getting told no. Camhs are just being scummy, and they wouldn't even help him anyway tbf. I had similar issues at the same age, and got under camhs for suicidal thoughts. Camhs never diagnosed me with anything. And social services knew about my issues, and just told my parents they had to call the cops any time I had a meltdown. Turns out I have autism and adhd, which they never even tried to start an assessment for. That was why I was so violent, I was having constant meltdowns. Found out years later that camhs at one point told my dad that I was probably autistic, but they immediately followed up by saying they wouldnt refer me to be assessed because "the waiting list is too long". If they'd actually done that, I wouldn't have ever been arrested at 14, and I wouldn't have spent time in care just before I went 15 (which also resulted in me getting arrested a 2nd time after I was with a couple of the other kids all kicking off, and then they both break their bedroom doors off the hinges - i did not - so we all get arrested for criminal damage, though we all got released without an interview or a caution, whereas the first time on my own I got both of those)

No, someone with a personality disorder, or bipolar, or psychosis, or adhd or autism, or a whole host of other things, can't stop themselves from certain behaviours - including violence - at times. That's the nature of having a brain that functions differently to a normal brain. Saying they can help it is like saying someone w/ depression can just "choose" to not be depressed. I myself have autism and adhd, when I was this kid's age I WAS violent. Because I have autism meltdowns caused by sensory overload and emotional dysregulation. Made worse in my teens by A) hormones and B) my family goading me and intentionally winding me up further during meltdowns, even at times when I had asked them to leave me alone to calm down. I am not in control of my body/actions during a meltdown, that's just how autism works. I didn't WANT to be like that at all, I hated myself for it and couldn't understand why I was doing all that. This is an extremely common theme for people with level 2 autism, and people with severe adhd. And especially people who, like me, have both of those. These days when I have a meltdown, I just slam my head into walls or doors, because people don't try to antagonise me further anymore, plus I'm generally less stressed out overall. Again, I'm obviously not choosing to graze and cut my head and risk concussions. It hurts like hell, but I am NOT in control of my actions at that point. But even IF this kid isn't autistic or adhd, he has SOMETHING. Kids arent just "like this". The next most likely candidate would be a personality disorder, which means he has had a traumatic childhood. People with PDs can't help how they are either. Even someone with ASPD who intentionally makes a choice that would hurt someone in some way, they can't help that they developed little to no empathy - ASPD is most often caused by severe emotional neglect from a very early age, and is often accompanied by (recieving) physical abuse. Which could be why he is directing so much rage at his family, whether he means to or not (most likely subconcious)

Been to my GP last year, he refused to refer me for therapy. Due to another thing I don't necessarily need to go into here, I'm currently in the process of writing a complaint about that GP for both that incident and the recent one, because it turns out he's just incredibly incompetent when it comes to both mental health AND neurodevelopmental conditions. Though I got put on the adhd assessment waiting list a few weeks after turning 18 and was finally diagnosed just this year, so now that I've changed GP at that practice, the woman who dx my adhd has written back to the surgery asking for me to have a therapy referral, and I'm seeing the GP in just over a week about it, so hopefully that goes well

Except it won't. Because like I say, beating someone doesn't change how their brain is literally made. And it almost always makes it worse, because they know they can't help their behaviour, and now they're getting hurt for it, which makes them depressed and angry *in addition to* whatever has gone wrong in their brain. Kids don't just choose to be like this. He either has a mental health condition or a developmental disability. You can't beat that out of someone

It's insanely hard to get that. I was similar to this at the same age, though not as severe. My family, *including me*, were all BEGGING multiple services to get me evaluated. Cops, camhs, the nhs in general, social services. Nobody agreed to make that kind of referral. They just wouldn't do it. We were desperate for help and they all refused. On 2 occasions after suicide attempts, instead of getting me a mental health bed anywhere, they just stuck me in the local children's ward. On both occasions, the camhs worker who came to "assess" me the next day said I was fine and could return home with no further action needed. This wasnt a psych eval though, just general chats. My parents fought that both times, but the 2nd time resulted in me being placed in a children's home because STILL nobody would get me a mental health placement or assessment. I was already seeing camhs anyway, and they wouldnt do anything either. Never even attempted to diagnose me with anything, never tried to do CBT or anything, nothing. Turns out almost all my issues were caused by undiagnosed and untreated autism and adhd. Which would've been picked up on SO easily if I'd had a psych eval!!! Found out years later that camhs even suggested I could be autistic at one point, but then immediately followed up with a refusal to refer me for an assessment because, and I quote, "the waiting list is too long"

The thing w your brother was a one off incident where he was and adult getting pissed and being nasty. This is a child who has a years long history of issues. There are major differences. This kid clearly has some kind of issue in his brain, either a structural problem he was born with, or a chemical problem that developed - likely as he hit puberty. Kids do NOT just *choose* to be like this (and again, a one off, or even a couple of incidents over months or years, aren't the same thing)

This. My mum would hit me, even bit me a few times. Didn't stop me getting violent. Turns out I have autism and i literallycant control it. But, I'm nowhere near as violent now that people don't actually TRY to wind me up further during meltdowns - i just bang my head against hard surfaces instead of lashing out. And I get to that point far, far less now that I'm not constantly stressed out and on the edge (school was horrifically difficult, I basically spent 7½ hours a day 5 days a week constantly overstimulated, overwhelmed, and on the brink of a meltdown)

Kids don't just decide to behave like this. Unless they have ASPD (which pre 18 would be conduct disorder) or possibly NPD, but even those require a diagnosis and support. Kid has some issue going on in his brain that needs diagnosing. And it is likely not even some "scary" mental health diagnosis, it's probably a developmental difference. The kid has an issue that needs fixing, beating him will do nothing (besides potentially making it worse). Beating him won't change the structure or chemistry of his brain!
