Smoking it in public (with exception of maybe some music festivals) I would say is straight up chav/roadman behaviour. Totally depends on your social circle but it’s pretty normal thing to do for a lot of people.

What happened to the music scene in Birmingham?

Went to the Castle and Falcon first time the other night to see Thou and thought it was a brilliant venue. Bit concerned it wasn’t sold out considering how good that band is right now and it’s supposed to be the home of all things heavy. Also the walk from city centre to there was grim, I am yet to see a nice area of Birmingham yet.

Men who have used sex workers and later got married, are your open about your past? If not, why?

Posted by SiRoddboi@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 8 comments

FilmCrafty1214@reddit

Don’t see why it would be relevant or why a partner would need to know? Unless you feel guilty about using a sex worker for some weird reason. I wouldn’t ever admit it unless something serious had happened and I needed to state so.

I’m definitely addicted to the internet but don’t regret getting rid of instagram and facebook, especially facebook. The only people I know who still use facebook a lot are middle aged women who love to bitch and whine about whatever their friend or colleague has posted.

What country are you and your mum from out of curiosity? It’s possibly the most common form of casual clothing going for most ages. Hood is useful when caught out in cold weather. Just to prove a point - Here are two British middle aged academics doing one of the most popular podcasts in the country, wearing hoodies. https://youtu.be/yH1v3C7XYX8?si=kNOKsDNghzhDaeMQ

When I’m travelling somewhere in the UK and I’m low on time/money it’s generally reliable. You know what you’re getting and it’s cheap. Saves a lot of time faffing looking for a decent cafe in an area you don’t know.

Why did "straight edge" never really take off in the UK?

Posted by Low_Resolve9379@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 981 comments

FilmCrafty1214@reddit

Because Straight Edge was a very niche unheard of American thing over here, as it still is. During that time we had British indie going mainstream and it was all about boozing as much as you could. I went to hardcore shows back then and it was usually the vain attention seekers who got the X tattooed somewhere. Generally it was laughed at.

There’s loads but for some reason Sigur Ros in Bournemouth sometime ago. Parquet Courts when they first toured the debut album. A punk band called Eagulls in Brighton. I wish I could remember more and I’m only in my 30s.

The entitlement and rudeness of Gen Z can be nauseating. Went to a gig the other month and a couple of 20 years old were talking all the way through. I asked why they did that and they responded with “Don’t tell us what to do, we can do what we like”
