For those who work two jobs, how do you do it?

Posted by thunderfart_99@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 23 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

I used to work 2 part time jobs meaning I was working 18 hours a day for 3 days but then have 4 days off with a full time wage. I was young then though and wouldn't do it now.

What to do with no contact landlord?

Posted by Prestigious-Jump-419@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 14 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

Put the money in an escrow account. Open another account with your bank and put the rent in there. When the landlord makes contact asking for their rent you will then have it to give and if they try to evict you for non payment of rent you have a strong case against them as they broke contact so you kept their money aside for them until you were able to pay.

Do any of you get battery anxiety?

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

It's better for your battery to keep it charged. Lithium batteries need to be kept charged else they lose capacity so you're doing the right thing to charge it before it goes to next to nothing.

I don't think it's the smell of blood. Blood has a coppery smell to it. It's a very difficult smell to explain unless you've smelt a cat in heat. It's very strong through which is why I find it so strange other people can't smell it.

I've not really noticed before about people being ill but my Mrs very rarely is ill and I don't really get close enough consistently with other people to be able to know if I'd noticed. It took me a few months of noticing the smell in the bathroom then her coming on a few days later to associate the two together.

How much are your bills and for how many people pm?

Posted by Ok-Kitchen2768@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 52 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

You haven't said if they include your food. Your food bill alone will be over £250 a month. And your full rent is very unlikely to be covered by benefits, especially if you are a private tenant as there is no social housing available.

No, but it's a pretty common thing for unused buildings to be used for grows. There was a few houses near by and I thought the grow was in there but it turned out it was the whole top floor of the Debenhams.

Don't think I'm going to get too far on it. I really can't understand how other people can't smell it. It's a really strong smell. Not as strong as a cat in heat, but not far off and definitely a similar smell.

Thank you. I know there's a woman who can smell Alzheimer's and pick it up before patients show symptoms which other people can't do which is why I was curious if it is usual for other people too. It's not something you really ask around the dinner table so came here to ask.

I can smell weed from a good way off. I kept walking past Debenhams in town for about 2 years saying I could smell weed and it turned out there was a huge grow on the unused top floor.

Is it hard to learn to ride a bike as an adult?

Posted by Melodic-Lake-790@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 19 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

I think it's pretty much shit confidence. I taught myself to ride a bike when I was about 5 by getting on one and riding off. I went in and told my mum she said he careful she don't go round corners so I went straight out and went round a corner to see why I shouldn't do it. I'm sure you'll be fine. Start off on a gentle decline, keep your head up and face front cause if you look down at your wheel you'll lose your balance until your used to it, kick off and get used to the balance by rolling down the decline and then start to pedal.

An Adidas ruck sack on a milkshake bottle. I'd been the supermarket with my mum while I was visiting her and had bought a bottle that was reduced and before I opened it said to her 'These competitions are rubbish, I've never known anyone win anything' then opened it and won.

If you've got time to fill you may as well do something that either yourself or someone else can benefit from. I go and feed the squirrels in the park or cycle along the river path and feed the ducks. Cycling is always a good way of passing time without harming the planet and it gets you to see things you wouldn't normally see.

Fellow Brits who remember 9/11, how did you react to it?

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

Cheers. It was fun. Had some good chats with random people in coffee shops. I'd been there before when the student loan company messed up and I ended up getting a terms money twice when I was at university and even though I told them they never asked for the money back so i took a mate there but it was only 27 hours in Amsterdam so always wanted to go for longer so thought there was no time like the present. I did go by coach and ferry instead of flying though.

I had just come home and put the TV on and saw the second plane hit. I thought it was a film until I heard swearing. The worst thing I saw of it were people jumping out of the windows and falling to their deaths. My Mum was flying home at the exact time too and couldn't land for an extra hour even though it was England she was landing. A week later I gave my flat and job up and went and travelled around Holland for 8 months getting high cause I thought 'Why not? A plane might land on my head tomorrow'

When’s the best time to tell roommate I’m moving out?

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

Before she goes would be fairer to her. Obviously I don't know what her character is like but if she gets arsey about stressing her out before her holiday she'd only switch it and say "Why didn't you tell me before I left on holiday so I didn't spend so much?" It's not a pleasant situation to be in to feel responsible also for someone else's situation but you've got to tell her some time so giving her the most possible notice is only fair I think.

Suggestions on ways to come up with money urgently?

Posted by Direct_Situation_144@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 40 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

I robbed a bank once and got £3400 for about a minutes "work". A bit drastic though. I wanted to go rehab and there's no better rehab than prison cause you can't just change your mind when you get there so for me it wasn't really about the money. It's always an option for you though cause I don't really think there's an easy way to come up with money urgently else everyone would just do that all the time.

What have people done that’s really helped with weightloss?

Posted by Longlostneverland@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 121 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

Weight management isn't just diet and done, then you can return to your normal. It is a life long thing. You need to be in a calorie equilibrium for the energy you are using otherwise your body will store any excess carbohydrates by storing it as fat. You can have a protein based diet if you still want to be able to eat more but it's better to just have your body used to the intake it needs each day.

My eyes started to get worse for reading when I hit 40. Now I'm 50 soon and at present can read my phone but by this evening it may as well be in Japanese for what I can read. The time until they get bad each day gets sooner and sooner with time. Most people mistake me for being in my mid thirties so it's kinda annoying that even though I may not quite look it yet, I am still getting old.

There's been quite a few murders in Ripley through the years so it's not really Last of the Summer Wine. It's got a pretty decent size class A problem too. Most of it, apart from the murders obviously, goes on unnoticed cause they aren't daft enough to turn the crime they just committed into a rap song.

Would you give up on seeing your 9 year old daughter?

Posted by Clear_Question_7285@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 107 comments

Correct_Task_3724@reddit

Just ask your daughter if she wants to see you then respect what she decides. If she says she doesn't want to see you she may change her mind later and she's old enough to remember she was given the choice and made it.
