Does Vue really check ID at the desk for 18 certified movies?

Posted by pinkfloydfan101@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 68 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

Yes it's literally the law - no different to trying to buy alcohol ect. Cinemas can get fined/lose their licence if caught alongside the staff member caught doing it will likely lose. their job. If you aren't 18 they might let you in if you look older but expect to be turned away.

Do you have any interests you feel you have to hide/keep low-key?

Posted by Proper_Emu_2296@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 530 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

I'm autistic so all of them. I know some people with autism will talk about their interests to anyone no matter what and I wish I could do that. But I always have this nagging feeling at the back of my mind that "nobody cares about this don't talk about it" or "they will only listen to be nice" "they'll find it cringe" ect ect. So I never really talk about what I like to my family and such.

Do you think that schools should have a uniform policy or not?

Posted by obliviousfoxy@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 39 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

Yeah. I know people say "oh kids bully with uniform"... Yeah exactly that point. Bullying is already horrific with stuff like school bags and shoes - it will be so much worse with clothes.

See I am absolutely not defending his behaviour at all/I am not even a massive Ant&Dec fan but I know if it was your favourite celebrity who did it you would willingly move on with it and forgive them.

What’s the worst thing you have seen/got detention at school for?

Posted by Mglfll@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1022 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

I absolutely hated the "whole class detentions" As one of the "good kids" i hated missing my entire lunch and not eating because some disruptive kid wouldn't admit to anything. I remember once we all got threatened with a 2 hour detention because someone locked a teacher out of the class - now the person did own up but I would not have attended otherwise.

Why do we get no votes in the eurovision song contest?

Posted by yes-this-is-my-name@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1061 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

Because we don't get behind our own artists. Before even hearing a snippet of any music it's "bet we get no points again" and no matter what we send people here still hate it. We sent something quirky and different this year. If Greece or Moldova sent it everyone would love it. But we have to dislike it because it's ours??? If we can't support our act then why do we expect Europe to???

Why do we get no votes in the eurovision song contest?

Posted by yes-this-is-my-name@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1061 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

Well we don't know if we would have won. 1. Ukraine was already high in the odds before the invasion 2. We don't know how the points would have been distributed - Spain could have easily won

I saw so many people say "this show better not have the usual Rob Beckett/Romesh Ranganathan names" and when it announced new comics all we got was "who are these people???" The show will never win

AlexSniff7@reddit

I haven't seen it but actually heard pretty good things - the cast seem to be doing nicely and ours can swear!!! which gives it the edge the US version lacks. It's fine for people to dislike it but so many people have been actively rooting for it to fail which I find strange.

What to do about bullies in high school?

Posted by Lower_Canary5713@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 137 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

This image has genuinely had me sobbing - it's the exact insults I would get in secondary school. When people say "kids are getting more tolerant" are absolutely liars. Get her out of that school now and report it to the governors and even the police. She seems really cool and we would have probably gotten on well in school

What is UK people's favourite radio station?

AlexSniff7@reddit

Probably Kerrang. They don't really play the same songs on repeat (they do have some offenders though.) and are great at showing up and coming alternative British bands. The ads are wayy to frequent but I guess that's all non-BBC radio stations now.

AlexSniff7@reddit

Being from Liverpool I cannot stand Radio City. Mainly because when I would be waking up for school all tired and groggy the last thing I wanted to hear was the pericing sound of the breakfast show and calling up kids on the phone-in (for some reason) They also used to play the same songs on repeat. (this was about mid-2010s so I guess the station was past it's peak)

Why has getting a retail job gotten so hard?

Posted by tylerthe-theatre@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 125 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

But also many retail jobs don't want anyone they see as overqualified. They know they're just gonna leave when something better comes along so why bother? Makes it an issue when people are looking for jobs post-uni

Is Coke OT the only soft drink in the UK that doesn't use extra sweeteners?

Posted by Averusty@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 945 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

My corner shop still has vanilla coke full sugar. There is also a new "cherry float" flavour which is full sugar that you can get in Asda and the likes (tastes like a creamy cherry vanilla - big fan.)

What’s a piece of British comedy hall of fame you just don’t get?

Posted by franki-pinks@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 2253 comments

AlexSniff7@reddit

I think it depends on the lineup. My issue is sometimes the tasks can be genuinely interesting but the cast want to purposely perform terribly or try to be the funniest one in the room. I prefer seeing creative ways to actually do the task. I mean they are comedians so it's their job but still.

Me and my partner are going on an all inclusive next week. People get snobby and say "Oh you go to sit around a hotel" but we've had some tough times recently so a week to leave the world behind and just relax with food and drink in the sun is just what we need. And we do have excursions booked so it's not like we won't be doing absolutely nothing

Yeah and these children are old enough to make their own choices. If they wanna go to scouts they can do - there will be plenty of brownies groups if not. I just don't get why this is being treated like some scandal when actually it's a group taking action rather than making statements saying "we're really sorry"
