British lick their lips every time they learn about how they send their own people to america or australia and massacred the natives. And of course they were the one that stood til last against the Germans in the great war.

Not good. Unsafe. If kids know you are foreign, you’ll get racism. They are obnoxious and dangerous because if they start shit with you and dight back, you’ll be the one in trouble with officials. They also may carry knives. This is echoed by every non-white brit i spoke to. From Spanish to french to asians to polish. I met number of polish here in UK. None of them is impressed by UK’s current living environment. Most want to leave. Some went back to poland even. Your brother is correct. And unfortunately this is getting worse because of british politicians are incompetent and no good leader can be found anywhere.

As a foreigner here, how do i make British friends?

You make friends by acting like one and sound like one. Accent, humour, the things you are into (football, f1, 8 out of 10 cats, tv shows, films, gym), if you’re a guy you grow a beard and just appear tough, you conform to western beauty standard…etc

Matter of fact is, british won’t care about what your culture like back home or how your name is supposed to be pronounced. British will just call you whatever they want, pronounce your name the way they like and will piss on your culture given the chance. They’ll say it’s just banter and jokes. If you do the same things to them they will get angry and pissed. Hopefully that’ll help you understand how the british think (in general, not everyone but most) and whether you want to live with people like this or not. On top of the rampant anti-social kids who will absolutely no fear to mess with you, you do anything against them police will arrest you instead. And also they probably have knives on these little shits. 20+ years living in UK, never changed. If anything it’s getting worse. So do you really want to live in the UK? This is not just from myself. This is also from Asians, Spanish, Polish and others all say the same thing. Have a think.

Working in data. My current (big) employer company in the last two years heavily push towards USING chatgpt/ai (for business in general and for employees to use). A number of people i know are not keeping up and i sense that few of them left because they don’t want to keep up with new technology/work trend. I understand from all sides - i get it that as a good worker i should keep up to date with all related technology, methods, techniques or whatever to help produce best work at my role. The employer would also want that, especially if i consider becoming an employer myself one day. But it is also tiring as an employee to constantly learn new stuff and keep up to date. And it will never stop until you retire. As a human life, it’s already a bit much right now. And technological advancement grows exponentially both in rates and in power. At some point i think they need to implement what game console wars did - only release new version playstation Sony and xbox microsoft after number of years as agreed. Same that new improvement technological update of existing technology should release one every few years. It is far more stable this way and it’s much easier for people to keep up with. Otherwise it’s just utter chaos.

Learn how to cook food with pork. Most people have a bias against pork. Thus they are cheap compare to lamb or beef. Also, they are naturally more flavoursome, so you need even less stuff to cook a decent meal with it. There's a certain way to "shake" a sauce bottle that always ensure every movement of your shake makes the sauce go downward - Hold the sauce bottle so that the mouth of the bottle is aim downward pointing to the floor (close the lid so it doesn't leak). Then stretch your arm straight no bending in the elbow. Then imagine your arm is like a children swing and "swing" your sauce bottle forward and backward with your entire arm. You don't need to do it too hard, but you should be able to feel that the bottle is full of momentum wants to fly itself downward ish. This movement will give all the sauce in the bottle energy and move themselves down toward the bottom of your sauce bottle (which you hold upside down where the mouth is pointing downward). Depends on how thick your sauce is, do it up to 30 seconds. Then squeeze the sauce out of the bottle as needed.

Do you think the UK is mostly a racially tolerant society currently?

Posted by DonkeyOT65@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 952 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

Most brits are unconsciously racist. Often they don't even know they are racist in their thoughts. They buy a lot of stereotypes. Not just foreigners, but even for their own people they do it too - blondes = dumb. Ginger = bully target...so and and so forth. Ultimately they are not truly flexible in accepting different culture because UK, like every other developed country in the world that claim to be multi-cultural, never truly understood what it means to be "multi-cultural". If multi-cultural is properly and truly implemented, Islamophobia wouldn't be a thing. Neither if a town full of people speaking non-English, or if a city doesn't seem "British" anymore. They wouldn't keep going on and on about eating dogs/cats is evil. (Nobody ever tell off the Swiz to stop eating cats and dogs here. Nor have they even pass their own law to ban consuming dog/cat meats either). You don't drink alcohol (because perhaps your culture isn't big on drinking alcohol), they treat you as being weird. You don't watch any western media, they immediately label you (in their heads) you're an outsider. UK is going backward, in terms of racism or any prejudice in general. Mainly to do with poor economic growth, rising anti-intellectual and narcissism. Very common for brits to throw "go back where you came from" to non-white brit. Any excuse is a good excuse to be racist, discriminating or just hostile (including passive aggressive) to you and they think it's justified, because white brit is supposedly more important and better than everyone else. It'll only get worse as police forces are extremely weak. Hell when children be racist there's nothing you can do about it. And if you dare fight back against racist children, plenty of white brit come running "rescuing their own", because tribalism is more important than righteous (thus anti-intellectual). For 20+ years living west to east England - this is consistent. Sure they are few non-racist people. Every countries have those too. But the truth of the matter is that most brits aren't "racist" only because they simply abide by the law and they just be passive aggressive with you or just hide their racist thoughts in their head. Few got the balls to be up front racist. If the law says it is OK to be racist, guarantee you they are no better than the countries they claim are more racist such as Asian countries...etc. The west love to pretend to be morally superior than everyone else. The truth of the fact is they are just like everybody else. No better no worse. Just the same as everyone else on the planet. At least no one else in the country pretend to be morally superior because they are multi-cultural.

What are your daily concerns in the UK?

Posted by beruke1@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 267 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

Main public streets become more and more violent, thanks to gangs, social unrest and the culture of narcissism, physical violence and individualism. White brits prefer seeing other white brit. Of 10 white brit, 8 is the case. Not very open minded and struggle to connect with someone who is different, because they don’t have much curiosity outside of themselves. Just focus on living their own bubble. You don’t drink, you are weird. You don’t talk much about football, tv series or reality shows, you are weird. So on and so forth. Even just an accent they don’t like, they will ostracise you for it. Even to their own (brummie). UK is not what it used to be. I think you’ll find yourself being treated as another Turkish, who probably work in kebab shops/barber shop or whatever. No different than how chinese are often thought they come from a family who own a chinese takeaway shop, or an indian that have a corner shop or indian takeaway shop, or whatever. Sad but brace yourself for it.

Why are people so hard on young people when it comes to work?

Posted by Barca-Dam@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 524 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

Depends how you mean. I’m in my early 30s and we had a very young lad work with us. One time i notice the (office) work he did was incorrect, so i asked to speak with him and show him that the work he did was incorrect and i’m happy to fix it for him, but he need to check over the work after it’s done as it’s an important report. I spoke with a very neutral tone no raised voice no shouting nothing. I even said i wasn’t angry nor was i trying to have a go at him. Just letting him know he made some mistake as he needs to know that he did. But colleague apparently thought that was too harsh lol I think there’s a culture of fragile confidence or something - too afraid to speak truth where necessary and not good enough emphasis on constructive criticism that has nothing to do with personal things but just work performance.

Why do you think many people in the UK take pride in being thick?

Posted by Curusorno@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1115 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

Because the culture inherently values pride and ego itself. To be intelligent and wise is to face head on the fact that you are stupid / foolish. Somehow from 2000 onward people become very insecure when it comes to intelligence and wisdom. And somehow “only” way to cope is turn to “ignorance is bliss” as a coping strategy.

Posted by No-Communication2985@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 77 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

No don’t do it you can’t afford it. Currently rental properties from agencies demand you earn 30x the monthly rent before they consider you. They will also check your credit rating. You can however rent a room in a shared house privately, such as spareroom. You’ll get your own space but you can go home for things if you want, and it’s cheaper as you probably won’t need to pay council tax (live in landlord), utility or internet. I’m sorry but you need to work hard and get rid of your debt before you can financially considering on your own rental property. £700+£125 council tax + energy and water easily around £125 a month, not including food, phone contract, any streaming services, gym, going out expense. +£400 debt repayment? You aren’t earning enough i think.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Posted by littleboo2theboo@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 992 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

Depends what kind of ghost. When my family cat died, my mum, who is one of the least likely people to make up these kind of stories, said that on the night my cat passed, she heard the typical scratching door sound my cat makes. My mum then call out to him, then the noise stopped. Does that count? Also, people who miss their loved ones - when will you ever be ready to let them go? You never will. Let them rest.

UK is not tolerant of other foreign culture as they advertise themselves to be. At best you can do whatever you want at home. But out in public you are expected to follow British culture. Therefore that’s not real “multi-cultural”. It’s more like multi-ethnic country that expects people to follow British culture in public but do whatever you want at home.

I’m not even white British but I do it too. It’s a sign to tell (others) you are friendly and you know the culture in a British way. It’s quite huge culturally to be honest. I remember I had a grumpy boiler engineer that have to check my boiler once a year. First couple times I thought he was being unfriendly. Then third time I was making tea for myself and thought what the hell I’ll ask him. He wanted coffee black so made it for him. Then the guy soften up considerably. Still didn’t talk much because that’s probably his personality and I myself don’t talk overly much anyway. But after things are definitely less antagonistic. Last time before moving out I told him my tenant contract finishing and landlord selling and he actually gave me but of a blessing and likewise. So there lol

…back when I was a programmer, I worked alongside literally from 20s all the way to 60s including manager who still code. Most of them can’t touch type, yet no body cared. What people do care however is good code and good software development. If you ask people if they prefer someone who can touch type or something who write clean and efficient code, 100% clean code all the way. They are easy to maintain and read. Touchtype benefits no one but the typer. And I say this as someone who can touchtype too.

Literally had this happened 10 months ago - walked around the street during broad day light in town centre. Spotted a wallet. No one seem to be looking for it nor notice it at all, so I picked it up. I intended from the start to return it to the police anyway. My friend asked how much was in the wallet, I checked it quickly and saw that it had fat stack of 20quid notes like at least 20x inside. Didn't take it out to count or anything. Just took it straight to police. Few days later got a text from police said the owner was grateful. Left it at that. (I'm not rich nothing. Came from poverty actually and worked my way up to average earner.)

is this normal? 30 mins for lunch, working 9 to 5, 5 days a week, £23k

Posted by flagshag@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 938 comments

542Archiya124@reddit

It’s “normal” for rubbish jobs for sure. But if you’re experienced, in a higher skilled position and work for medium and above companies, it should be much better. I don’t think you should be depressed, because you can always compare to other countries where you’re expected to work 9-9, 6 days a week for about the same salary. But of course don’t be overjoyed either cause 30 mins lunch is minimum. 23k is hardly livable wage and 9-5 5 days a week is extremely normal or should I say default. UK is not going to pioneer new or better ways of working or whatever. Hasn’t been for decades. UK is poor and going downhill. They are middle of the road, very mediocre. You want something better it’s either America (lots of skilled remote jobs) or Scandinavia where they are pioneering 4 days a week, iirc.

Next time, when you're still deciding, just say "Hi sorry I'm still deciding give me a moment." If there's other people behind you, tell them to "go ahead I'm still deciding". It'll always work and I did this all the time when I was lacking in self-confidence. Even now as a very confident person I'll still say this if I am taking my time to decide. It'll always work. There are some people in this country that demands British politeness. Just part of the culture. But there's also rude people. I used to work in customer service but I don't believe that just because someone, especially a foreigner, was lacking in British politeness that warrant me to be disrespectful against a customer. (For those who don't know, not every culture on Earth demands the absolute necessary "hello" "bye" greeting. Some culture just get on with it or just absolutely no communication unless absolutely necessary. Western or Eastern or middle east or whatever.) If there's a rude employee, don't hesitate to call supervisor/manager and escalate.
