Do many people in the US actually own gerbils as pets?

I had one as a kid, my cat died so I think my dad bought it real quick to make my sister and me feel better. Lived for a couple years. Does seem like it was more common in the 90s, I’m not sure if I’ve heard someone say the word gerbil aloud in 20 years

My fellow Americans; do you refer to air-conditioning as "the AC"?

Do teenagers actually get to decorate their own rooms like in movies and shows, or is that just a myth?

This is so bizarre it has to be fake right? My parents didn’t want to know what was going on in my room as a teen, they never set foot in there if they could help it. The only rule I can think of was don’t smoke cigarettes in bed lmao

How often do you go to the beach?

In Massachusetts, used to live on the coast but now like 45 mins away. I go maybe 3-5 times a year during the summer around here, and maybe once a year in Florida for a long weekend to visit family. I go on one or two other trips a year and sometimes they’re beach-focused: went to Puerto Rico for a week last year and going to Costa Rica later this year. Not like a 10/10 beach fanatic but I definitely enjoy it and consider it something I would not want to go without.
